[LFP/D&D5e] New player one-shot

Hosting another one-shot game tomorrow wed july 22nd at 3pm PDT. This is really designed for new players in mind. I will assist with character generation, explain ability checks, and give some examples of play. As well as a play session where you will get to meet "poorly voice acted" npc's, and get a feel for how role-playing games on this site and in person generally are played. Character generation may take up to 1.5 hours in my experience for the 5 players attending, and the play session itself may last 2-3+ hours. A microphone is required as either in-game voip/skype/ventrilo will be used for communication. Please post in my LFG forum: https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/28156/karesh-unfolds When posting please give me your name/nickname, why you are interested in role-playing or D&D5e, and a method of contact (preferably skype). Do not fret if you don't get invited to this session, as I will be running many more players through this adventure. Apparently the link seems not to be working, try copy/pasting until I figure out what's broke.
Sounds like fun, sign me up.
Sign me up too.
Bumping for awareness.
Doxs said: Bumping for awareness. Hi Doxs, I forgot to put my skype information in my post. I've updated my information with another post with the corresponding information! Having one cramped monitor is seriously no bueno on the eyes! Hope that you might still have some room! All best, Aldus

Aldus said: I just played my first-ever Roll20 game under Doxs' guidance, and my review is a spankin 20 out of 10! Sam took so much time out of his time (Literally over 2 HOURS) taking us under his wing to show us critical tips on how to develop our characters, learn the basics of DnD, and answer any and all questions we might have had during that time. I must say that I was quite a slow learner when it came to filling out DnD5e class sheets -- there was a lot of referencing and mathematical equations which Sam expertly helped us all with. His organizational skills in keeping us on track while also keeping everyone engaged was amazing. I have to admit, I took nearly a century trying to figure out where to put my spells, equipment, and items for my Human Sorcerer; however, the payoff when we finally hit our first leg of the journey really paid off when our quest funneled us through a treacherous expanse of jungle... surrounded by an overwhelming enemy force. So without further adieu, if you EVER see one of Sam's games up, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to get in touch with him for a lovely game. Our game (and this was a one-shot, mind you), lasted for over 7 hours (two of which he dedicated solely to helping us set our first-ever DnD 5E characters up!) If all community members are as nice, welcoming, and friendly as Doxs and the players I've had the pleasure of gaming with, then this community without a doubt is one I hope to keep coming back to time and time again.
Aerlynn said: Yup, can't agree more with what Aldus said. Very patient, very friendly, good times :). The same goes for the other players, who also were very patient and friendly. For the short time this one-shot was on, it felt like a real adventure already and I think this was the perfect way to start D&D-ing (at least for me). Well done Doxs, and thanks again!
I have one spot open for today's game still! Contact me soon if you want to learn all about roll20 and D&D5e, send me a PM or post in my LFG listing and please give me skype info so I can contact you! Thanks!

True story! I posted that in the campaign forum last night after our playthrough. SEVEN hours, guys -- two of which he took time out of his day teaching and explaining us through the gameplay! So YES!!! If you're a new player and are looking for one of the most patient and helpful GMs to guide you through your first-ever adventure, look no further--Doxs seriously has you covered! This is coming from a complete DnD newbie--my time playing DnD5E with Doxs last night was probably one of the MOST incredible gaming experiences I've had in over half a decade of gaming, seriously!!
