Private Message Error

I have now tried to access my Private Messages, on 4 different computers in 3 different locations, using both Chrome and Firefox, and in every attempt the Server Times out before the it connects, none of this ever happened before yesterday. Monday everything was fine Tuesday morning it went to hell! -Ajax

Before we dive into the guts of the issue, we're going to need you to do a few things for us, things that sometimes fix issues for users before more extensive troubleshooting is needed. You've done step 1 (changing browsers), so can you please follow Steps 2-3 of our Solving Technical Issues wiki page (temporarily disable all browser add-ons and extensions, temporarily pause any anti-virus) to see if one of those components is causing the problem. If one of those does fix the issue, just let us know :) If none of that resolves the issue, please follow Step 4 , so that we can have this information to further assist.
Did all that..bupkus! -Ajax
A 504 error probably means that our server is timing out the request. How many PMs do you think you have? I think I have something like 200 and it takes around 10 seconds to load them all...if you have a lot it might be that it's taking more than 30 seconds to load and timing out. I am planning to add pagination to the PM Inbox which will fix that issue...
I would have no problem if all the PM's in my box were deleted, as long as I could currently get back to access them, was there or is there a way for the user to delete old PMs... And yes I'm sure I have a lot, thanks for taking a look at this... See you boys at GenCon... -Ajax

See you boys at GenCon... -Ajax While not the same as a hard delete (when you can get into your inbox) you can archive the messages that are either considered dead or otherwise redundant. It helps keep the clutter down with the added advantage that if the recipient responds at a later date it will revive the message for you.
I'm trying to come up with a work around for this problem, I believe that Riley has diagnosed the problem as I have too many Private Messages and they are taking too long to load and the server is timing out. I know that I have a tremendous amount of PMs, I have run many, many many games on Roll20 since July of 2012, so three years of PMs... Is it possible to have my PMs wiped clean, as it just delete them all so I can start over? (probably the best solution) Can a Dev go in to my Account and Archive all the PMs? I wonder can I just Create another Account although anyone that knows me by Ajax will be confused? With the amount of activity I have going here on Roll20, I need access to my Private Messages, any one have an immediate solution for this conundrum? Thank in advance, -Ajax
Sounds like archiving them would be a better option, then you can go back in and delete what you simply don't need. Maybe they can get in and do that for you since you can't get into them yourself.
We've added pagination to Private Message inboxes. If you had a lot of PMs (hundreds or more) previously and you were getting a 504 error while loading your inbox this should fix that problem as well. Please let us know if you have any other issues by creating a new thread.
