Date: 23rd Reaping, 609 CY Attendance: Alena, Cat, Wulrakas, Virgil. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recap: Lowtide is in full swing as the sun sets on Oerth. The greater moon, Celene, is nearly full as Alena, Cat, and Wulrakas head back for the Wayward Dolphin. They find it surrounded by guardsmen. Sticking to the nearby alleyway, they eventually cross paths with Oki. He leads them to the docks after informing them that the ship is leaving that night, rather than the following morning. The fact that some of the Adventurers are wanted criminals has forced the Captain to set sail earlier than anticipated. They reach the docks and Oki accosts a guard blocking the way to the ship. The three adventurers hastily board. Oki runs after them but is subdued. The ship nonetheless raises anchor and sets off, leaving Oki behind. But not before Cat nearly kills a guardsman with magic and Woolie tosses a rope that is later grabbed by the guards. The captain seems unworried about Oki, figuring the man will be put in jail for a while but ultimately released. The ship leaves port, just as magical fireworks explode over the vast Metropolis. Virgil, meanwhile, ascends to the upper decks hungover. Apparently he'd been whisked aboard shortly before the guards approached the Wayward Dolphin. Later, after settling into their rooms, the group joins the Captain (Evan Tarth) for dinner. Evan tells of a dream he experienced while shipwrecked in the Azure Sea; a tale involving a vast monolithic slab and a humanoid fish monster. He says he felt a similar presence when the adventurers boarded. He's then suddenly overcome by a strange entity, an entity claiming to be Clifton's patron. The voice reminds them of the necessity of reaching the small town in Salinmoor and stopping whatever 'the woman in red' seeks to accomplish, lest the world be plunged into chaos. Like typical adventurers, it seems the party had completely forgotten why they were heading there in the first place. Zagyg would be proud.
