QUICK READ RECAP The party takes care of some last minute errands in Hommlet visiting the mage tower, and receiving payment from the town cleric, relating to him the story of their battle, but how Zuggtmoy may return. The 500 mile trip brings them to the coastal Pomarj city of Highpoint only to find it desolate and overrun with monsters. Using a secret entrance in the back of the town temple, Balfon finds himself surprised and in the fight of his life as a pack of ghouls, led by ghasts, attack him from above! Falling to the floor paralyzed from their damage, Karmadel activates his armor's newly acquired protection from evil ability, in an attempt to shield the fallen dwarf from the undead, before he draws his last breath! Party explains to town cleric the results of their battle in the temple. Karmadel tithes. Serrandon tithes. Kyra tithes. Party trades for bracers for Tralaan lowering his AC. Shenjo casts continual darkness and continual light on two separate stones. Party safely arrives in the coastal Pomarj city of Highport without incident, only to find it desolate and overrun with monsters. Party examines a secret door in the back of the town temple. Party notices what appears to be guards on frequent duty on the upper walls. Leaxle enters the hallway and checks the second secret door but doesn't seem to find a trap. Karmadel opens interior secret door and sets off a spring loaded spike trap that momentarily pins him up against the wall, protected by his shield for half damage. Bjorn enters the temple and moves down the eastern hallway looking north seeing nothing. Balfon enters the temple guarding the west hallway. Shenjo goes invisible. Karmadel listens and opens west hall northern door, revealing a due north hallway. Bjorn opens the door to an eastern room with a recently remodeled east wall. Tralaan enters the temple to the tee intersection. Shenjo follows Leaxle and Balfon up the western hallway. Leaxle breaks in the melted door to see a colapsed ceiling with a 5' ledge 10' overhead and a door in the NE corner. Balfon enters the room and is surrounded by ghouls and ghasts that jump down from above. Balfon takes a critical bite from first ghast for 10 hp of damage putting him at 39 points of life. 8 Ghouls attack Balfon for 19 hp of damage reducing him to 14 hp of life! Balfon fails his save vs. paralyzation and falls to the floor, at the mercy of the undead monsters! Karmadel pulls Leaxle out of the doorway and steps into his position to activate his armors new ability. Karmadel activates his 10' protection from evil armor ability to protect Balfron from the onslaught. Sorry my net failed last night. Didn't come back up till this morning.
well that was Sunday's post. I just copied from other thread.
After the temple and this, I keep thinking Kell has brought on this undead/demon punishment because he's not a paladin (yet).
We really need anyone with blessed or holy spells/weapons to come up and toss over Karmadel. While Balfon might take some points while down and paralyzed, we still might be able to 'holy grenade' the ghouls and ghasts. (take out the ghasts please, as they have the stink'um which induces vomit/incapacity!) Most have been covered by Karmandel's armor/protection from evil so, you should be able to toss things into the room (i hope).

Coup-de-grace is only for incapacitated targets, not ones that are capable. How would you know about which creatures may or may not be able to attack? Have you been reading the monster manual? Maybe now I have to see if they're all wearing protection from good rings or under the effect of that same spell.
Don't items shut down if you are incaped or paralyzed?
Sorry guys I put that out in the wrong post. All these post get sent to my email on my phone even my other 3 games i play, and they are all together when i scroll, and in another game, I play a cleric that specializes in fighting undead and we've been fighting undead now for about a month and my group is surrounded by ghasts and ghouls. I just posted that in the wrong chat and was my first time in the 7-9 months of being in this game that i've ever slipped up and i'm sorry for that post.
And craig there is four way's that an item will shutdown 1st i shut it down, 2nd I get knocked out, 3rd dispel magic on armor (which only stays dispelled for 1-4 hours), and 4th if I die.

A magic item is a magic item is a magic item. I have never heard of magic items somehow losing their magic ability over time with some kind of magical expiration date like produce from a grocery store. What items are you talking about ?
Not saying they will lose the abilities, just say. IF Karmendal was to get incapacitated wouldn't his protection from evil Turn off? or if he was paralyzed? Also need a ruling for Ring of free action, Does it protect against Ghouls/Ghasts Paralyze? This does dictate how the party would probably act. Metagaming and basic Character knowledge tells me that Elves aren't affect my Ghouls paralyze. but the Question is Is it a poison, or supernatural ability? I've played it in the past as a supernatural ability so is protected by the ring.

Ring of free action is for external inhibiting sources (web, water, etc).
Ring of Free Action: This ring enables the wearer to move and attack freely and normally even when attacked by a web, hold, or slow spell, or even while under water. The spells simply have no effect. While under water, the individual moves at normal (surface) speed and does full damage even with cutting weapons (like axes and scimitars) and with smashing weapons (like flails, hammers, and maces), insofar as the weapon used is held rather than hurled. This will not, however, enable breathing under water without further appropriate magic.
And Craig is asking if i get paralyzed will my armor stop working and i replied the only 4 ways for my armor to stop working was for me to turn if the same way i activated it, some deactivate when player is knocked out cold, a dispel magic was cast on it which then the armor loses it's magical properties for 1d4 rounds as stated in the spell, and if my character dies, well there is a 5th that would be if i removed my armor.

Exactly as I just said, external issues only. Paralyzation is internal and not a spell effect (otherwise he would've rolled vs spell on his save throw). These creatures are just dirty and full of disease as I described during game play. Even their stench has a debilitating effect on people within a 10' range (the first thing we do next session is have Karmadel make a saving throw or be affected with a -2 to hit penalty). So a ring of free action doesn't apply to any of those types of contracted sicknesses/illnesses.

The DM answered the question I had with the ring of free action As each DM plays it a tad different i've seen it both ways. Now Chris you missed the question i was asking its NOT if you are paralyzed if your armor turns off. it was simply if you are considered incapacitated does the armor stop working? This is due to if you do decide to step in the room. and are paralyzed then you are pretty much SoL at this point. Balfon is still in danger at this point anyways; also 4 Creatures are out of the Protection from evil which means they can still attack. 3 of which are in range of Balfon. There are a few other things i want to point out but for the sake of Not meta-gaming i won't disclose it here for the same of fun in the game.

And Craig if you look at my radius you will see Balfon is in it and for the 4 they have to enter it to hit him, which means they have to still reach in.

No chris you are wrong. if you look at it you'll see that 3 are able to Roll to hit him w/o moving. Thats my point. and if you get real particular 4 but i'm giving the benefit of the doubt. They still can roll to hit and suffer just a -2 to hit. the other. 5 maybe 6 are inside the circle. we still have 4 we still need to be concerned about when it comes to Balfons life. You don't know how if any of them are Ghasts or not Remember Ghouls and Ghasts are indistinguishable so best to assume in the end. Also remember By trying to force this barrier(moving into the room) Or attacking you will end the spell. So the ghouls/Ghasts outside the barrier right now will be forced inside breaking it.
Hey guys anyone know how to get my sound to work again or re-get windows 8, I was originally window 8 and got that free windows 10 update, and now my sound is completely gone and can't figure out how to turned back on or get windows 8 back. Only way i can talk now is skype through my phone only

Reason why the game isn't show its scheduled for this saturday? [DM Update] Fixed. Thanks.
ok got everything back up turns out that Asus hasn't upgraded to windows 10 yet, i can play it but no sound, so microsoft put be back to window 8.1 till Asus upgrades there stuff and i have sound again.
i upgraded to 10 on my laptop already got about 20 issues. luckly i don't use it very often.
Any way we can inject these ghouls/ghasts with Win 10 so they get all glitchy?
i don't think our wizards are capable of doing that yet. need more research
heh... no doubt. Sorry this comes a tad late in the day. Relatives dropped by and we are going out to eat at 5 so I probably won't be back until close to 7pm game time. Aaron is stuck in the corner near Karmadel with no holy items nor long 'pole' weapons... most he can do is get out of the way or toss a hand axe into the room. Kell is all the way over the over side in the corridor next to the ruined (empty) room. That corridor is clear down to Serandon... so 'covering the rear' at the moment. Darn narrow corridors...
Major home emergency. Cannot make it to night. No deaths but all hell has broke loose. I'm sorry
