Having trouble getting started building a new character sheet. Preview does not seem to work. Not applying css.

I am having a lot of trouble getting started building a new character sheet. No matter what I do, I the preview pain does not seem to be working at all well. What I see is a list of my elements one per line with no formatting. It looks as if the preview pane is totally and completely ignoring the css. If I save the changes and open the campaign and look at a character, the partial character sheet if formatted correctly. But if I go back to the code and look at the preview pane it is not. Am I don't something wrong? How can I fix this? Thanks

Especially if the sheet is working correctly on the VTT, you're probably not doing anything wrong. I don't know of any fix for the problem except trying again later. Or, just use the VTT to check on your changes. (You'll need to refresh the page after each save.)

Thanks. Previously when I tried saving a new character sheet while the vtt was displaying one, I got an error. I will try that a few more times and see if that was just a fluke. I also just downloaded the wysisyg html editor Kompozer, and added a link to the css file at the top, but it is also adding other stuff that I think I don't need. I am not sure if it is going to be more work than it is worth to use that or not. Since I am starting pretty much from scratch I expect to spend a lot of time on it (with many mistakes to be tracked down). What is the development environment that most people here use?

I use the Roll20 stuff, with copy and pasting on Notepad ++.   Have you tired using the Dev server(s)?  I have better luck with the preview pane in there. Works 9 outta 10 times in there, provided I didn't break anything. 

Has anyone thought about posting about this in the bug forum so it is officially placed on the devs radar (if you have then sorry because I don't remember seeing it)?

I abandoned using the preview window - more effort than it's worth. It's quicker for me to save and refresh the main window. Plus preview doesn't work with my minified html/css.

I did the same as Mark, rather than rely on the preview pane which was always a bit off for me anyway I would just have a separate tab open with a game using that sheet. Whenever i saved the sheet i'd refresh the game and open a character up for a look... not ideal but almost as quick as the preview pane would have been.

I did not think to search the bug report section, I did try searching this Character Sheet section (with I guess poorly chosen search terms, since I did not pull up any of the threads on this topic. Might I suggest that this issue ought to appear in the "Read Me First" sticky post for new developers at the top of this section? Thanks for your help, I am trying dev server now.
