Archiving

Other than de-cluttering the sidebar, does archiving stuff actually make a difference in the performance of the VTT? Reason I ask is that I had a monster folder all set up, archived a goodly portion of them for use later, but when I un-archive they reappear in the root folder.

Archiving the journals is mostly for organization purposes. Many people create a master journal that has a list of all the other journals created. I heard someone once created their rule book in this manner and it contained a few hundred handouts and journals. Everything was archived except the master page which allowed the players to access all the other pages. If you think this behavior is a bug do you wish me to move this thread to the bug forum?
Thanks for the reply, its not necessary to move the post.

Archiving does not maintain folder structure. Archiving pages used  to give a performance boost, but the VTT has since optimized away that need. I don't think archiving journal entries has ever made a difference on performance.

Archiving journals was created to give a sense of structure (reducing clutter) to those of us that prefer the folder way instead of tags. It wasn't setup to improve performance. Now many updates ago, the archiving of map pages was done for performance improvement but that has been optimized and while archiving still provides an improvement it is again more for clutter reduction than anything else.
Thanks for all the replies guys. First time DM on Roll20. It's going to be great. I am using Minaria / Divine Right as my world basis.
