Question about purchased assets

1438823806

I was wondering if any of the the token/ tile designers sell pre tagged assets. I find that the tokens and tiles I have purchased are basically useless without them and I really dread  having to go through and tag them all. And to add to that most of the free token I have gotten as a supporter are beyond me as to what they are. It would be so nice if they just said things like "female Orc archer" or "stone corner dungeon tile" ya know?
Ya none of the assets are pre tagged from the marketplace. You have to tag them yourself. It is time consuming but worth it after it is all done. I would suggest not using one tag per item though so you can find things easier. I personally use three tags for all my stuff.

I'm a content creator and I tend to add about 5-10 tags to everything I make.  Perhaps they don't carry over once bought? I've had a similar issue looking for a specific map tile.

IIRC, the artists can tag the assets they create, and searching those tags yields results as expected. However, those tags aren't displayed, which might just be a bug. I believe the assets are also automatically tagged with the artist's name. You can also add your own tags, of course.

Luke, thanks for bringing this up. As Alan mentioned, content creators (myself included) tend to add 5-10 tags to each item within sets prior to upload. After reading this, and taking a gander at sets in the marketplace, yes, it does appear as though some tags are not showing up. Not sure if it is in the display or just a glitch, but I've noticed approximately the last half of items in sets are currently missing the tags. I will ask the team to take a look. As Brian mentioned, you can usually also look by the artist's name in the search as well as what you are searching (i.e. "Ooshun Orc"). Thanks for the heads up on this.

Thanks for the replies. If you ( the artists) are tagging your work then somehow the tags are not coming through after people purchase them or receive them as supporter perks I have pages of un-tagged assets ( some of which I have no idea what they are) and as I said previously, to me this makes them basically worthless and not worth the hassle of rummaging through to find what I am looking for. If I had time to search through them all, then categorize and tag them I wouldn't be purchasing them, I would spend my time looking through the multitude of free assets in a google search. The whole idea of putting up money for assets in my mind is to make things more time efficient for the already busy DM who wants to create something special for their game. To me its a no-brainer that they should be easy to find without going through hours of busy work.                                       Thanks again, Luke

While I agree that every effort should be made to make life easier for GMs I'd like to suggest that the assets are themselves worth the money, as opposed to just Googling images and using token tool.  You won't find the equivalent of Russ ' Old World Maps for free, for example, and it costs just  a couple of cups of coffee.  If the tags can be pulled through once purchased it would be very useful though.

I've brought this thread and the tag issue to the devs awareness.

Forgive me for suggesting the artwork itself isnt outstanding on its own.

Luke, I sent off an e-mail to the team asking about the tags. I did notice on several artists' sets, the first 50 or so items in a set have tags, but do not appear after that. Most likely just a small glitch in the display page.  Are you not seeing any tags at all? Even on the downloadable sets? That is odd as the tags are built right into the names for upload. Do the tags appear on sets you download to your computer? The team works with artists, providing suggestions on tagging, naming, etc. in hopes to make the process easier and more enjoyable for everyone.   For example, here is a screenshot of tiles for upload with names and tagging: As you can see, the names are followed by brackets with the tags the artist wishes to include to help make searching easier. In this screenshot, you can see, each name ends in " ... " as the tags within the names continue on, indicating more searchable terms. If you are not seeing tags on items you've purchased, you could possibly also send a PM to the artist, asking them if they've tagged their items or if not, to suggest maybe tagging future sets. It would benefit both sides.  Thanks again for bringing this up.

One possible thing is that I noticed you referring to the sets that were done under the Mentor Token Program.   Those ones I did not tag, because I was doing work for Roll20 and they own the final product. So the wild west themed "Howdy"  and the Steampunk themed "Days of Smog and Brass" were done by me but not tagged by me.  Hope that helps!
Alan did you know the link to your token sets on your profile page is broken?

Just to confirm. I just purchased Quick Encounters, Jungles1 and although everything has tags in the marketplace there are no tags at all in my library. Real bummer. If its bug I am going to hold off any more purchases till they fix it.

The tags don't display, but work if you search.
From what I can tell there is no search for purchased stuff only a search for your library and things dont show in your library till you add custom tags. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

Like Mark said, Luke, the tags (could be called global tags) that are on them in the Marketplace, will work in-your-game in Art Search. The search result graphics will be subdivided, first comes your purchases From The Marketplace and From Your Library at the top, and then under that will come free graphics From The Web. As you found those global Tags from the Marketplace do not currently display as Tags in your personal Library. Documentation wiki, <a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/Art_Library" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/Art_Library</a> Let us know if it doesn't pop up when you type the term into the art search.

Thanks. I really wish we could search purchased assets in the pop-up like you can do for your favs/uploaded images. I hate using the side bar for tokens/tiles (just personal preference). Or even being able to isolate a purchased set would be nice. Rather than taking us back to the marketplace when clicking a set, just load only purchased items within that set.&nbsp;
