i meant dnd 5e. sorry about that, fans of shadowrun. :p Here's how the campaign sits currently... the setting of eberron has a history of shifting dimensions every few thousand years that bring dreams and nightmares to the world and shakes up the population demographics now and again. in our homebrew history, Hell came to eberron in the last phasing some 4000 years ago, and the only way to shunt the demonworld off of the planet was by detonating the core of the planet with a magical bomb of sorts. this effectively shattered the world and split the continents into free floating rock islands that the remaining nations rebuilt upon. This forced spelljammer technology to be developed so trade could fly from nation-island to another. Meanwhile, Darksun's planet, Athas, is dying. that is the theme of that campaign in general. Past homebrew shenanigans led to a deal with Ancient Powers to shunt the planet out of its decaying orbit to somewhere else.. anywhere else. This coincided with the current planar phasing on eberron, so now the barren wastelands of athas have fused into the floating realms of eberron much like hell had once before... everyone on athas and eberron are "getting acquainted" as cultures colide and begin fighting over resources, land, and opportunities. I think we are going to be cliff-running in the Demon Wastes of the continent of Khorvaire. This land is where the last gates to hell remain intact according to official eberron lore... When Athas imported, Ur Draxa-- the athas city of the dead -- landed in the middle of the demon wastes, so liches and mummy-gods are currently warring with the rakshasa that rule the wastes to see who gets to rule over the damned. So the two pieces of literature most relevant for flavor to our starting point will be Ur Draxa from darksun and Demon Wastes from eberron. I'm not going to make the team stay there if you find paths to adventure leading away, but it's a hostile enough environment that it can be a self-contained campaign if you all take an interest in the area. We'll spend the first session this sunday nailing down what we actually want to play as a team and what the theme of the campaign will be. First player on the team I believe is planning a half orc barbarian with an eye for Feng Shui... so that should give you a sense of the humor in the game, though as a DM i lean towards political and economic intrigue with large dollops of consequence for both smart and dumb decisions.
