I've had an extended conversation with Cross, and it looks like this might be able to get off the ground. As far as I know he's going to run a one shot this tuesday. I cannot run it or be there as I have a minor eye surgery scheduled for this tuesday morning, and it will be a day or two to recover. I'l make a group and we can get started. It will take me about two weeks to get going. In the meantime, let's get some characters together. I've run star wars since d6 Star wars RPG was out at least since 1989. That campaign was WEG's New Republic Era. I've run 50 sessions of Saga, set in the Clone Wars, and short campaign of Edge of the Empire. ?I'm thinking Rebellion, but we could do edge of the empire. My conditions are this: Trust that the stories we tell are not going to be random, things generally happen for a reason. Story will trump rules. I'm always looking for a good story. Don't rules lawyer me, or try to make the game into political factions of players against each other. If you can't make it to a scheduled session give me a heads up. I will make as fair and impartial rulings as I can. I will be teaching some newer players to the system how to play, trust the process. The game is generally narrative style, and a lot depends on the dice for results. There will often be plot complications, such as magazine is low on ammunition, power pack shorts out, something falls blocking a character's path. All of this is serving to make the scenario more challenging, and thus more dramatic, leaving the outcome in doubt. Trust the process. I have ran star wars as an rpg with various rules systems for literally decades, and seen all the films, and most of the cartoons. I have reference guides to star wars. But I am no expert on Star Wars. If I make a mistake on the background, misname a jedi or something, I'm okay with a reminder, but if it turns into an argument over canon, I'm not here to argue canon, I'm here to run the game. Don't step on the other players or me. I'm not kidding. this is one thing that really gets to me, is player vs player crap. I don't want any secretly evil, secret imperial spies inside the rebellion passing secret notes, or people murdering each other. It's a cliffhanger action story, get moving, and stuff will happen to make it complicated, and challenging. Deal, and move on. The combats are fast paced. When we first start out, the rules will be new to most people. I get it. But once we've gotten a few sessions down KNOW your character, their advantages, their disadvantages, strengths, weaknesses. Know the text of the various powers and special tricks. have it on your sheet. I don't want to have this deal like you see in D&D games where the wizard guy is taking a half hour to decide what spell he wants to cast, flipping through the player's handbook while we sit, huheari8ng it go on, saying make up your mind, while he says wait, then fights about it. Know what you are going to do, then do it. If you can't decide, take a hold action, or just move and shoot, because normally, Since it's an action game, that will happen a lot. I will ask on your turn, "Okay what are you doing?" Once your turn is done, no taking it back like if i knew that, then I would have done this. No. Be decisive, for good or ill. I don't want to see analysis paralysis, or hours of planning for a 3 minute skirmish. Go go go. Move, shoot, cover, run, fire jump, swing. And describe it all. I will teach it.. Also we will take break when people need a break. usually at half way, but anyone can suggest a 5 minute break. If you have a squeaky chair, live near an airport or jackhammer construction, have a mic you can shut off. Other than that, just be civil, and let things slide, and this will work. Big decision right now, is Edge of the Empire which will be merchants and smugglers, or Rebellion. I don't have force and destiny yet. Also, I need a tally from Cross as to how many people he's got on the team coming in. I think it was three. Plus Akryu makes four. How many players are we looking for? I have run up to 11 but not for this game, and that's too big. 6? 5?
