Have parent maps for DM, Portals, Gates and others.

As in, have a gate, or portal to go through, so the DM doesn't have to copy and paste all the tokens on every map.
I just get tired of having to copy and paste the icons for all maps when characters move from one map to another. One map may have full Hp and the current ones have some Hp missing. I was looking for something that would be more consistant that if I change one set of hp it will update all the tokens that match to the parent icon. So If I change one it changes all to match the Hp. As it is now I have to delete the old ones on a map and copy and paste the new ones, not hard but thought it might be a little easier.
What I think would really help is having inheritance between assets between maps. It's a basic programming fundamental, and shouldn't be overly hard to implement, depending on how roll20 itself is programmed. For example, you could have a character's data on one map, and have all of the characters of the same name on different maps inherent their data from the 'parent' character. Would save time between maps when say, a character levels up. You don't have to hand-change all the characters on all the maps.
I know this doesn't entirely address your concern, but you can copy and paste whole groups of selected counters at once.
Well, that's what we've been doing. That takes to much time. And is annoying if they don't have the same health value.

One problem we had specifically was when we leveled up our characters. Our maximum HP increased, and our DM changed our token's values to reflect this. However, our player tokens on other maps weren't updated along with this, which slowed things down a bit when we changed maps. What needs to be done is have a master-token or master-character from which others update their characteristics from. In programming, this is known as inheritance. Think of it as something that is the same amongst similar things, like apples. You have Granny Smith, Red Delicious, etc. You don't have to learn what an apple is all over again to understand Granny Smith if you already know Red Delicious, because you already know characteristics common to apples. Likewise, 'child' tokens have all the characteristics of 'parent' tokens. The only thing different between them would be which map they are located on.

I am confused. If you leveled up on a map, lets call it Map A, why can't you copy all of the tokens from Map A and paste them on Map B? All of the stats will be the same. It should take only a few second to copy tokens from 'Map A' to 'Map B'. - Gauss
I like much this suggestion of turning part of a image background or map into "clickable" for activating an automatic passage into other Roll20's tabs. If the values in the tokens of the respective player characters can be maintained from tab to tab or from page to page, much better! This could work along the lines of "interactive backgrounds" -also easing the transition between setting/background images and battlemaps-, and be made by means of selecting a part of the image, or by enabling this capability for certain tokens (doors, for an obvious example). Here is a sample of how I'm envisioning it:
