multiple images in a single token

How about , tokens that have multiple images saved inside them in a specified order so the you can cycle through them in real time. example you have a closed door, click on hit and press a key and it cycles to an image of an open door instead.
From what I heard recently, this is in the works and Roll20 is calling it "multi-sided tokens". Gauss, Oh, I see! Sorry, it's a thread on the Mentor forums . . . because to my knowledge, currently that is the only reference to these "multi-sided" tokens. Another way, then, of pointing to this, is by saying that seemingly the developers heard the points of some of the threads related to the present subject, such as: "Submit your ideas for RPG ezine & VTT content" http://community.roll20.net/discussion/2815/submit-your-ideas-for-rpg-ezine-vtt-content/p1 "I wish there were more status indicators... for reasons other than status'" http://community.roll20.net/discussion/2355/i-wish-there-were-more-status-indicators-for-reasons-other-than-status/p1
iTabletop has these features, which are a neat idea. They have been implemented in a slightly clunky way, but the idea is sound. Tokens have both status images and status overlays. A status image replaces the current token graphic with the selected image (e.g. replaces a graphic of a closed door with a graphic of an open door). A status overlay superimposes the selected graphic on top of the token graphic (e.g. layering the word "locked" on top of the graphic of the door). It essentially means you can have as many statuses and trackers as you like without anything having to be pre-defined in the software, so it's very game agnostic. However, they are a chore to setup as you have to do it yourself in a graphic programme and then set them all up, etc. I like Roll20's cheap 'n' cheerful solution because it means no work for me, e.g. "okay, guys, the bugbears with the red dots have no shields".
Yeah, I agree very much, Mr G. That non-map based Virtual Tabletop has a number of really great ideas, but on the other hand, its handicaps —as the lack of essential, basic features and the chronic lack of development— are just overwhelming to me. The Roll20 pre-arranged status dots definitely are a fresh approach. However, maybe they could be able to be modified or substituted for those users that really want to make the effort of creating their own versions: "token overlay images" are, for virtual minis status effects, usually a PNG transparent layer with some sort of icon situated in a corner, and then placed over the virtual mini —or any kind of "token", like an image. I'm saying this because I don't know if the "multi-sided tokens" implementation is going to be related to the current colored status dots.
