Greetings Roll20 Community, due to schedule changes of my current groups I find myself with new open timeslots and a distinct lack of virtual tabletop gaming in my life. For this reason, I am currently looking to join a new group for either DnD 4e, 5e or the newly released Dragon Age RPG - though DnD 5e is preferred. I am a native German, but I do speak English fluently. Under the week, I am usually available from 05:30pm-12:00am GMT +1. On the weekend, I am usually open during the following timeslots: Saturday: 10:00am-04:00am GMT +1 Sunday: 08:00am-12:00am GMT +1 When I say 'usually', I mean that RL can always get in the way and needs to take priority. In general, though, I should be able to make these times at least 95% of the time. For those of you with the time and willingness to read through it, I have provided some additional information about myself as a player and my expectations below: The type of player I am I've played DnD 4e on roll20 since 09/14, and have been playing both DnD 5e and the Dragon Age RPG since the official release of their respective PHBs. I have some experience with older systems, but only through popular videogame franchises (IWD, BG, NWN etc). I enjoy both roleplaying and mechanics. My characters won't be min-maxed to a T, but they will be effective. I enjoy extensive character backgrounds and development, as well as playing out my character to bring him to life. In general, I prefer hardy melee type characters, though I have several ideas in my drawer for pretty much any type of character concept. I am a sociable person, like to joke a lot once I get to know people better, and get along with most personalities pretty well. I enjoy being part of the team and treat everyone at the table as a member of such. As long as a modicum of respect is afforded to me, it will be given in turn. The types of games I enjoy I prefer long campaigns with a healthy medium in most things. Both combat and roleplaying opportunities should be available in ample quantities. Difficulty should be meaningful. The threat of death needs be there for the sake of immersion and the feeling of triumph after a beaten challenge, but the absolute defining reason for player death should always be player mistakes, not a few bad rolls. I am entirely okay with several deadly encounters every adventuring day, as long as the group always has meaningful ways of beating and/or avoiding those encounters at their disposal. If I have to choose, I prefer a strong narrative over freedom of choice. Epic plots, believable NPCs, a strong villain (in terms of characterization), and long journeys throughout the most dangerous areas of Faerun/Thedas/Whathaveyou are more essential to my fun than being able to determine every station on the way. Of course, a healthy mix with elements of both would be the ideal. The type of GM I get along with well GMing is hard work. I know this well enough, being a GM in a game myself. And know that, no matter whether you actually choose to invite me or not, whether you actually adhere to any of my standards or not, your efforts are appreciated. Keep trucking! That being said, a good GM in my eyes is one who can walk the fine line between the aspects of host and referee. A GM is not the servant of the players, but a sink-or-swim approach is likewise counterproductive. If the players have feedback about anything at all, the GM should be willing to listen. A good GM should also enfore punctuality and keep the game on track. However, a tabletop game is no drill routine, a relaxed atmosphere and some friendly out-of-character banter are healthy things for every table in my opinion. The rules are always in the hands of the GM, but any changes should be communicated properly, and feedback from the players taken into account. No one is perfect, myself very much included. But try to walk the line, and we are going to get along great. And I shall do everything in my ability to help make the campaign a memorable experience for everyone involved. For everyone who made it down here, thank you for reading, and maybe we shall play together soon. Kind regards SJ
