Player looking for a Shadowrun Group

First time, might need some help understanding the mechanics of this game. Timezone: +2 GMT (Europe, Lithuania) Contacts: Steam - GlebGuy (will appear just Gleb); Skype - g1ebguy Availability: Dunno yet, probably weekends. I like in-depth roleplaying, only in text (most people are really bad with impressions, sorry) and I'm open for almost any type of character. I will take the one who is most-needed for the group. I already thought of two characters, one is an Ogre who upgrades his shotgun, given a time, chance and resources, also works on a piece of armor (or a whole new mechanical arm) with something like a very small rocket-pack(?) attached to his elbow, giving him enhanced punching power when used; a creepy human mage who wears a gasmask, carries a spear with him and various trinkets around his clothing, fascinated by magic and probably makes his own spells instead of learning of new ones, reads books for a living and has a bad (and twisted) sense of humor, however he's still reasonable and he doesn't go on a random carnage or kill anyone for no reason.
Oh man, I'd love to get on this runner action, sadly I'm not really in the position to GM this...well I'm getting something together just not for this, working on something for Halloween here. Anyway I hope you don't mind if I play tag along with LFG for Shadowrun.
Tagging along as a runner (spec ops type) if we can find a GM. EDIT: I would also be interested assuming we could find a GM. I would probably play a spec ops type character.
Tagging along as a runner (spec ops type) if we can find a GM. Actually, I rather not play as a stealth-like character. I mean I can, but I really don't like that.
It's cool, there are alot of roles in a Shadowrun Team that are needed, sounds like your troll is a Street Samurai and your mage sounds like a....mage. I do have an Ork Muscle/Transportation, and a Decker, no I won't call her a Hacker cause she's been around since 3rd Edition, that could work, heck I even have a Doc Wagon guy lying around
I could add a hacker / AI character to my list but the build points would have to be pretty high I think. AI eats up a lot of BP. Think KITT except more mobile virtually.
So, any GM willing to run Shadowrun around?
I am potentially interested in GM'ing. What were you folks imagining for play structure? If you wanted to do a play by email, I would definitely be interested as I have a lot of time I am willing to commit to that (I would do my best to send out a fair amount of interactive material, drawings, maps, etc). If you wanted to play over Skype, my time is a lot more limited.

The problem with PbE is that it's kinda...limited, I'd think Skype might be easier for everyone, granted time would be limited but...we'd not be dependant on prompt responses
And I think we're back to square one.
Bump.
Wish I knew enough to GM ... Maybe if I started with the intro material and already made missions. Would love to play as well.
throwing in with this thread - would love to play some SR again - I think I've got a half dozen level 1 characters I'd more than enjoy playing again!

I would encourage anyone who is interested in GMing to just dive in. It really isn't as hard or intimidating as one would think. I wouldn't be opposed to starting a game. *draws his Ares Predator and aims at his foot* I should note though that I've been having bad luck getting games of Shadowrun of of the ground. Also, I would like to focus run by run, so that we can just worry about getting through the first run.
I'd love to play depending on times and days. I have GM'd the game before, on several occasions, but I really want to play something.
That sounds like two reluctant GMs.
I'm not reluctant. My life is just a train wreck right now, and I really can't plan anything more than 2 weeks out at best. I'm happy to run, but need the players to know that the game may not last more than a single run.

I guess I am going to try and GM this. Tentatively. We haven't set a time yet but it will likely be either on Saturday's sometime or late evenings some other time... I will post more soon.
Ok rules: 1. 400 BP No more than 200 Spent on Stats. 2. If you plan on playing a hacker or other character dealing with cyberspace, please be knowledgeable and I will be asking you to help me with that part of things. 3. Register at http://www.myth-weavers.com so we can make a character sheet for you. 4. Try to have a character back-story, personality, etc. The more fleshed out your character is the better I can work with him or her. we will be taking 3-4 more players so the first people to post after this have the first slots. May open up more slots later or run (maybe have a co-GM) a separate runner team. But for now the first 3-4 people who contact me with concepts get the first slots. Please contact me privately with your concepts and such... use my email rick.coverdale@gmail.com or skype me obi-wan_meets_dolomite first game is TBA
Assuming it's not a bad time I'm in, on the east coast. Will be working on my character and get back to you. Any restrictions on character creation other then the 400 bp / 200 stats
Also, would you mind if people posted their general role? Face, mage, etc so we can try to cover some bases.
well...shoot, kinda didn't wanna go back there, nothing wrong with mythweavers ...just not sure how long it's been since I've gone there.
Also if we're going to do the role thing Metatype: Ork Role: Transportation, Muscle, Fire Support (Secondary)
No restrictions as long as it follows the rules. If you want anything that might be bending the rules or outside the norm.... go ahead and contact me and we can discuss it. Go ahead and post what roles you would like to fill. So far we have Mage Transporter/Muscle/Fire Support PS just for clarification, Magic does not count toward the 200 bp limit on stats.
I sent off my charecter. Not sure if theres space left. Metatype. Human Role, Generalist, Disguise expert, Pistols + unarmed combat
Just so you know alot of the material for my character comes from Shadows over Europe, and the 6th World Almanac
Finally finished the character. Shes interesting, not too powerful. Think "bones" crossed with cocktail dress bond girl, but without all the points to make it work :p
Nice! Very interested in this - I'll re-familiarize myself with 4th ed SR rules, and build something tonight
Went a little dead. Anynews
Still gearing up for this. Main problem so far is my work. Mostly waiting for everyone's finished characters so we can discuss play times. And Schedule our first run.
What are everyone else's characters, concept even if you havnt finished building.
sorry it's taking a while, mine's a Hispanic ork from the Free California State, sick of the Japanese Occupation and Metahuman Oppression he's left the glint and glamor of LA to settle in Seattle. More or less he's a decent wheel man and pretty good with a shotgun as well, and cracking some skulls. Slick with carjacking but don't expect him to bust a Corp Spider or anything high end. He's pretty up on himself, proud to be an ork, a Hispanic, and to hell with the breeders and their bigotry!
You guys full?
I will be playing either a hacker / rigger or street sam / covert. It would be my first hacker, so not sure how Rick would feel about that. I have tried reading through the books and online guides for hacking but ultimately it's up to him. Off to finish my character now!
So far we have room for about 1 more. I'd like everyone to have their sheets to me by Friday morning EST at the latest so we can schedule our first run. If you can't get it by then, you can catch the next run or I will add you to a second team. That being said how is everyone's schedules this Friday and Saturday? My name on myth-weavers is rcoverdale The game is going to be set in the City of Columbus in what was Ohio..... I live here and can make stuff up and mostly know the area. I will be fleshing things out a little at a time. If you have any specific questions about the city, email me or leave me a message on Skype. Trevor, feel free to shoot me over a character concept and sheet using the methods I listed in my previous post.
I'm pretty knowledgeable about hacking so i can tell you how things work. The build is pretty important though (there are a lot of useless skills and programs and couple of really unintuitive things) so add me on skype (david.carvalho.araujo.) and and show me a copy of your sheet and i'll give you some tips.
Also cant find any shadowrun lore on Columbus, so i'll probably stay as a Seattle runner and just be down there on some sort of crime that needs investigating, perhaps have a couple of shadowruning family members there.
I thought Ohio got caught in the Bug City Hype, not much is said about Ohio in Shadowrun though I guess it is part of the UCAS
Working on it now! Should be done with my CS by tomorrow morning
Friday (Past 5pm EST) / Saturday is good for me. What city will the campaign be centered on? I assume Cincinnati?
he said city of Columbus (which until today i'd never heart of). I mean imagine i was gming it and said ok it's based in the city of newport in wales, all you yanks would be like. "is that near london?". Jokes aside, the lack of source material, and some of us not knowing the area is either: going to give the gm so much work he'll die especially since we as players cant really create any location based plot, for example i had a massive knight erant ork underground conflict idea set up for my charecter since my charecters fixer was mcalistar but she worked for KE Or make the game feel small because all that exists is the mission and what the gm tells us. Not saying this is what will happen, far from it, its just what im worried might happen. Especialy given the gm works for a living :P Perhaps we could all have a brainstorm session where the gm tells us about the layout of the city draws a simplified map and we figure out what might have happened during the ghost dance and matrix crashes and whatever other disasters happened. And from that figure out how the city would look now; what corps have a presence what syndicates have a presence what the shadowscene is like etc etc etc.
Oh and 5pm sounds good to me, thats 11pm my time i think.
A brainstorming session would be great. I have a few ideas and have concocted a few local gangs based on some stuff that has happened. I can transplant everything to another city, if need be but I haven't read too much of the source material for other places. Columbus is the Capitol (real life) city of the State of Ohio. It is a big college town currently. I can get a map of what it looks like now, and we can write the lore or whatnot. PS I am jealous, I have always wanted to visit Wales.
Columbus a college town, huh I must have been gone for sometime I never really noticed that, but I do think a brainstorm session would work well
Add me on skype question, and we can try to give the low down on what I have planned.
what is your skype name?
You guys still active? Have you had your first run? Is there any room for another chummer?
Same question as the above would love to join
