Session 12

After the big battle, we break into our jobs to repair and secure the BlueBoy base. Joseph performs surgery on Eusyl and heals his damage but fails his roll on the dog spit toxin. Kyle reprograms the Combat Bots to obey us and respond to the password "Maplethorpe". This makes the robot recognize the speaker as a friend. Eusyl repairs the atomic reactor and basically gives us unlimited SEU's. We can charge all our goodies. Rodworth calls the Butler and the phone is answered by a robot. Rodworth asks the computer to stop the police, but none were dispatched. Rod starts talking to Eye about his rent and services. They come to an agreement on rent. He pays his first month of rent with video equipment so we could set it up for security. Kyle mounts an electrostunner on 2 of the robots to alter the weapons available to defense of the base. Rod drags the de-cyberwared bodies out on the street...as a sign to those approaching to stay away. We hack the base computer and get it to cough up it's information. As Rodworth is leaving the building, he's approached by a well-dressed yazirian with a shoulder camera. He's a rep from Interstellar Entertainment, looking for a story. Rodworth offers up an interview. Joseph and Bal head off to the monorail so that Joseph can make the race. They see a large guy by the train station. The guy is wearing a thick skeinsuit, a spacesuit and a screen. He has every weapon known to man strapped to his body. He's watching everyone going by, with a big grin on his face. When asked, he just says, "I'm looking for somebody." As the guys head toward the lift, the guy asks for help finding his friend. He pulls out a photo and asks "Have you seen him?" Yaz says no, but if we see him, we'll let him know. Yaz looks at the photo and sees the collar and recognizes it as a UPF uniform. Yaz and Joseph head up to the station and start preparations. Yaz starts watching things around the bookies to see if there are any fixes in. Something happens at the docking ring, but Yaz and Bal keep an eye on the bookies. Both roll for personality...Yaz failed miserably =) Bal joins him in the flames of failure. The team Joseph was supporting have a rough go of it, but they win at the last minute. Both Yaz and Bal win cash on their bets. Joseph gets paid for his participation (1000 cr). Yaz asks about possibly selling an atomic engine. He finds out they're worth big cash and the Malthar is likely the best person to sell it to. ----fade to black--- The reporter and his crew come back to the building and Rodworth heads out to meet them. Narguu, the reporter, has removed his camera and starts talking to Rod. He asks about the missing students and how he felt about the situation. Rod goes off about the Blueboys and how upset he is about the whole situation and how taking down the Blueboys was a good thing to do. "Now you're in their headquarters, was this revenge?" asks Narguu. Rod answers, "It was a turnabout favor. They destroyed our home, we took theirs." Narguu asks about what the BB's plan was and Rod explains what they were doing with the captives. Narguu thanks him and says he'll be on the news later. Afterwhich, Rod heads off to register the company. We split off the cash and after taxes, we all net 500 SGI's each. We contact the Styrigi's and gain legal control of the building. We have to pay 600 SGI's a tenday for property taxes. We find out that the vault in Steeldove, a day's journey from the Styrigi capital. We plan the flight and head off. Before we leave, Rod and Joseph head off to the Valkyries. As they go, they see all kinds of little drones flying about. They're looking at everyone, ignoring all but Rodworth... ---fade to black--- Back at the base, a group of Yazirian gangers approach the base and demand protection money. Kyle leans out the window with the sniper rifle. He grabs the robots and uses them in a threatening manner toward the monkeymen. Yaz negotiates a deal with the morons on a hireling basis. The goober says we should watch the news, as one of our people has been being profiled. ---fade to black--- Rod, Eusyl and Joseph approach Valkyrie headquarters. Rod gives his weaponry to Eusyl and asks to speak with Artemis. Chickie heads in to get her. Artemis comes to the door, armed with a knife and wearing a skeinsuit. Rod unzips his suit and drops to his knees, surrendering. She takes him to a private room to discuss his actions. A few of the Valkyries approach Eusyl and ask about seeing her in the news. They discuss what we do and offer help if they're able. They mention the fact that the defeat of the BlueBoys really helped them out. They offer their services due to the big favor we did them. Rod lays it out to Artemis, telling him about his brother and his plan on killing him and asks her not to take revenge if he does kill him. He wins her over and she gets all mushy. He says we're leaving but will return soon and says they'll talk when we get back. They all head back to base. We gather our stuff, pack up Gurie and head off to Steeldove. We rent an explorer and head off through some volcanic ground. We arrive at a small cave. In the cave, we discover a rusty door with a set of keyholes. We awaken Gurie and see what we need to do to open the door. It's a plain old locked door. Even looking over the system, it's just a door. Eusyl, Yaz and Bal each take a key and open the door. Inside the room, there is a small spaceship, a Hull Size 2 ship with both a Chemical and Ion drive. It belonged to the triplets father, but it got shot to crap and he landed it here and left it. They were going to try and fix it but never had any money. Inspecting the ship, it really needs some work. The Ion engine is great, but everything else is a mess. We're deciding on the short sale or long term space solution. Joseph is going to try to hypnotize Gurie to make him forget the location of the vault and he succeeds. At the same time, Eusyl and Yaz look over the ship to see what would be needed to make the ship flightworthy. It's going to cost us about 75k to get it up and running. We head back to Styrigia and try and decide where were headed from there. Here we log.
For the Art,  Log of Jenny Truth Seeker of the Iron Monger Clan : Star Crossed.. The Journey home was a long and a lonely one. I had left with three suitors and now they were gone. My heart was heavy, but there was solaces in the fact that my knife was covered in the blood of the man responsible for the death of my brother. The crew of the liner I took wanted to part me from the blade, citing the passenger line rules on weapons, I explained to them that no longer a weapon but a trophy to prove that I accomplish my Blood Hunt. The captain of the craft was Yazirian and understood as they too had a similar tradition, so he allow me to keep it. As Liner went into orbit around Laco it was already being hailed by a system ship owned by my clan requesting permission to dock. It was allow to before the line of shuttles that were waiting to disembark passengers, there was urgency as many spacers remember the events that lead to destruction of the Laco's station by the clans almost six years ago, and few spacers wanted to anger the clans. My father and younger sister greeted me at the air lock. Drifting in the micro gravity my father pulled me toward him and into a hug. “I heard of the deaths of your suitors, it amazing that you manager to accomplish your mission.” “I was helped,” I replied dreading the conversation to come. “ You received help from a flat lander?” He asked stroking his beard. “No from a clan men.” I answer. “A clan men on Styriga? What renegade would help you daughter and at what price?” his tone of his voice made me shutter. “It was freely given, and it was Rodworth of the Shimout clan.” I fought to keep from crying, as I was about to repay a kindness with a betrayal. My father look at me and mutter, “ We better get back to our home ship, this sound as a tale that the rest of the clan should hear.” All I could do was to nodded. Six hundred pairs of ears heard my tale, many more very likely would hear the recording soon. My mother held my hand, and my sister hover around me while other of my clan milled around discussing what they heard. “Was he handsome?”, my younger sister ask about Rodworth. “I cannot believe he turn down your offer!”, my mother injected, “The boy must be crazy.” “Those Shimouts have never been a stable brunch,” added my father, “It was their fault about what happen six years ago, true the Flatlanders of Laco was also to blame. But to destroy a whole space station. The Gold suits will likely want to question you about him when the news gets out, not sure what clan laws he may have broken, but there must be something they'll find him guilty of.” My younger brother rush to my side, during my recital of my tale, he was on the bridge monitoring the home ship operation. “Sister a message has come for you. It from Isabella Star fire, clan chief of the Shimout clan. She would like you to come to her home ship to talk about Rodworth.” Everyone turn to look at me, and I spurted, “Tell her that I am on my way.” All home ships have a similar design, and Isabella's office was no different from my fathers. Control panels and monitors lined the walls, and in the middle was her conference table. For a woman of her age, she looked amazing well. It was said that she fought at the first muster and still was fit enough to handle the day to day duties of a clan chief. Sitting next to her was Rodworth's brother, Barnes. I wanted to hate him, but he gave me no reason. He was polite and listened quietly as I repeated my story. His Grandmother looked at me, and laughed. “ I not sure what that boy was thinking, I would like to blame genetics. His mother was a priestess of the Goddess Infinity and not of the Clans, she must have planted some strange notions in the boy. Any sane clanmen would have taken your offer. Heck any sane person would not have run in the first place.” She paused and looked off into distant, “ But he okay, he was doing fine when you left?” Her voice sounding almost motherly. “Grand mom, he a thief. What about the credits he stole when he left.” Barnes shouted. “Calm down, boy. Your brother only took his share of the Clan funds, he could have asked and I would have given to him.” She answered. “Not to have him run away and desert his duties!”, Barnes countered, and I started taking a instant dislike to him. “What are you going to do?” I asked as the door to the office open. My heart skipped a beat as entering carrying a tray of refreshments was a boy of my age that was the younger version of Rodworth. “Thank you Cross!”, Isabella said to new comer. He place the tray on the table. Our eyes met. I am not a shy girl but I found myself blushing. My mind started to search through my memories of what I knew of the main branch of the Shimout family. I knew Rodworth had three brother, Barnes the oldest, his younger brother Xenon was well known for his scientific and technical abilities, and the youngest Cross. Among the Clan I have heard many call him the unseen, one out shined by his older brothers. Even his sister Grail was more well known and respected. A mouse to their lions. “You can go Cross. “ Their Grandmother uttered, but he made no motion to go. “You talking about Rodworth? Aren't you.?” He asked. “Cross this is not the time or place, we will talk about this later.” She answer in a commanding tone. Yet he made no motion to leave, instead his legs moved as if he was digging himself into place. My pulse began to race, maybe there was lion blood in the veins of the mouse. “No, he my brother. Anything you discuss I want to hear. All these years he been gone, you drove him away. Did any one asked him who he wanted to marry or even if he wanted to be clan chief?” Cross voice carried a tone of challenge. “Brother, know your place. This is a matter for head of the clan to decide!” Barnes rose from his chair. Both boys took stances that look like they were about to fight, and I found myself springing to my feet to defend Cross. “Stop this, I'm Clan chief here and I have made my decision. Dora Star beam has already contacted me and have alerted the Gold Suits that she want Rodworth to be brought back to fulfill his obligations to marry her. He is to be instated as my replacement. From Jenny's story he still capable and knows his duties to his fellow clan folk.” “You can't grand mom !” Cross shouted. His Grandmother stared at him I have heard stories about Isabella's Star fire stare. It is said that it can bring the strongest man to their knees and I could literally feel myself turning away from its intensity, but Cross stood unaffected with a look of defiant on his face and at that moment I lost my heart to him. I prepared for the fight to come, only to be interrupted by the door opening and their sister Grail rushing inside. “Grand mom, I have a message for Barnes from Rodworth.” She said catching her breath. “What does it said?” Barnes asked. I stared at the print out that she dropped on the desk. Even for a subspace message it was short. One word, “Challenge!” I had to laugh as I found myself inching closer to Cross, almost by instinct his hand found mine. “Seem like Rodworth is deciding what he want himself. Are you man enough to face him Barnes.” I found myself saying. “I going with you.” Cross said to his big brother. “I will too.” I answer, staring at Cross. “Like I said, the boy has some strange notions.” the elder Shimout uttered and all we could do is nod in agreement.
I want to propose two art things for the next few sessions; two pieces of the same thing -- our new ship. Firstly, a grid map of the interior and then an illo of the ship from the outside. There are a number of silhouette shots of ships from Knight Hawks, would it look like any of those?
All expected players were on time. +1 xp Log complete: +1 xp Creativity complete: +1 xp Objective: The vault: +3 xp Objective: Artemis: +3 xp ... until you surrendered, I really didn't see a way you'd ever get this one without killing her Total: +9 xp This sets you all to 102 xp. I was thinking the same thing since the ship now figures strongly in the plans of your group.  If we have two volunteers, I'll give a +3 xp reward when it is done (in addition to other creativity rewards on the usual weekly schedule).
Also, just a list of ongoing "plots" in case you are interested: 1) The anti-government terrorist group -> learn more -> allies or enemies? 2) Styrigi tooth removal -> what's up with that? 3) Quill bats -> seem to have become more rare, but why and how? 4) The mysterious Mr. Jones (lost UPF man?) 5) Several other side "plots" were partially resolved, but remain incomplete - at this point, they aren't going to reappear unless players reestablish interest in old events. 6) Naturally, there will be new stuff happening, but the meta dictates that all these "plots" will advance with or without you.
