This post contains summaries of the sessions we played during our "Curse of the Crimson Throne Redux" campaign, which was completed. Session 1 (03/25/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Arodus, 25 Things Done: We finished creating characters, we talked a bit about the system and the setting, and then we played the first scene: riots all over Korvosa. Highlights: A meeting between Captain Alarion of the Korvosan Guard and the mercenary group Lucky Bastards was interrupted by rioting mobs. Tessara 'Leaf' persuaded Theandra Darklight to leave her tavern behind as rioting mobs approached from Old Korvosa looting and destroying everything. The rest of the PCs helped several civilians to escape. They encounter several groups of violent citizens along the way to safety, and even managed to evade rogue otyughs bursting from the city sewers, until they found a young girl looking for someone to rescue her friends who were abducted and trapped in a building. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): 1. Why the riots? 2. Why Alarion was holding a meeting in a tavern rather than the more secure Citadel? 3. Why the otyughs, who are normally kept controlled by guards and mages from the Acadamae, were bursting from below indiscriminately. Awards: 200 XP to Tobias, Gromian, Forniel, Leaf; +200 to Tobias for coming up with a group backstory. The Wayfinder Magic Item. This is something that every member of the Pathfinder Society has (the Wayfinder), according to your backgrounds. Wayfinder Power bonus: +5; Market Price: 500 gp; Weight: 1 lb. Construction Requirements: Light Shaping Power, creator must be part of the Pathfinder Society; Cost 250 gp. Description: A wayfinder is a magic item used almost exclusively by members of the Pathfinder Society, so much so that the device has become a calling card of sorts for the explorers and chroniclers. A small magical device patterned off ancient relics of a long lost civilization, a wayfinder is typically made from silver and bears gold accents. With a standard action and a command word, you can use a wayfinder to shine. This light illuminates a 10-foot radius area, centered around the wayfinder, and lasts until you deactivate it. The wayfinder can emit this light as many times as you like. The wayfinder also acts as a nonmagical (magnetic) compass, granting you a +2 bonus on Survival checks to avoid becoming lost. All wayfinders include one small indentation designed to hold a single ioun stone. An ioun stone slotted in this manner grants you its normal benefits (as long as the wayfinder is held or kept close to the body), but frequently reveals entirely new powers due to the magic of the wayfinder itself. Inserting or removing an ioun stone is a standard action.

Session 2 (03/30/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Arodus, 25 Things Done: We ran the second scene: rescuing abducted orphans from the Fishery. Highlights: The young girl from the other session lead the PCs to an old Fishery, where her friends were held captive. The PCs basically stormed the place, disbanding a small criminal group, rescuing 7 children, and encountered some bizarre events in the Fishery. They were able to capture one of the criminals, Yargin Balko. Another criminal was slain (Giggles) and another escaped through a window (Hookshanks). Seven children (two females, five males) were rescued. They were employed by the criminals to do the dirty work at the Fishery and elsewhere. Another orphan was found dead with a crossbow bolt in his back, while an orphan was never found (and was presumed dead after a few body parts were seen in the lair of a crocodile below the Fishery). The criminal lord Gaedren shot himself when he was dying. Violet smoke rose from his mouth. A dark violet ball of energy sprang out of Gaedren's mouth and invaded the mind of Tessara, but was dispelled by a bright sphere of light that came out of nowhere too. A mysterious woman materialized out of nowhere to warn the PCs to get out of there. A Harrowed Deck of Cards was found. When leaving the Fishery, the PCs stumbled upon a man who was leading part of the mob during the other session. He got scared and escaped through one of the holes that a sewer otyugh dug. Gromian made several brief rituals to honor the fallen ones during the Fishery scene, including the dead criminals. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): 1. What was the ball of dark violet energy that affected Tessara? What about the other light? 2. Why Gaedren kept rambling about the doom of the city and weird energies came out of him? 3. Who is the woman that appeared in the Fishery out of nowhere? 4. What happened to Hookshanks, who escaped the Fishery? Awards: 634 XP to Tobias, Gromian, Forniel, Leaf; +100 xp to Gromian, Leaf, and Tobias for not harming a single orphan. +1 replenished Conviction for playing according to traits: Gromian always risking his life for others, Leaf and Tobias avoiding as many innocent deaths because they feel guilty for their pasts. Treasure: This was the stuff that was found in the chests that Gaedren had, as well as other significant items in the slain criminals: garnet amulet worth 100 gp 200 cp. 100 sp. masterwork light crossbow wand of acid splash (28 charges) an obsidian wand of magic missile (7 charges) a tiny glass tube containing a dose of oil of keen edge acid flasks (2) tanglefoot bag (2) thunderstone teak cigar case inlaid with tiny bits of jade worth 25 gp 2-pound gold ingot worth 100 gp bearing the Cheliax coat of arms a miniature gold crown worth 350 gp a fist-sized scrimshaw carving of a kraken with garnets for eyes worth 200 gp a silver ring worth 150 gp bearing the inscription “For Emmah—the light in my nights,” highly realistic and highly scandalous ivory figurine of two entwined succubi worth 450 gp an abalone-shell holy symbol of Shelyn worth 300 gp

Session 3 (04/07/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Arodus, 25-26 Things Done: We exited the dreaded Fishery and continued fighting in the riots. Then we had an audience with the ghost Zellara who explained things a bit (perhaps?). Finally, we got another mercenary contract from Cressida to arrest Verik. Highlights: Sargent Grau Soladi was being attacked by two deserter guards who abandoned their posts in the middle of the riots. They were knocked out and arrested, taken to the citadel. Zellara, the ghost, explained that she was a Varisian gypsy and fortune-teller who also died at the hands of Gaedren. She has been paying attention to a change in "the city's mood": more violence and desperation growing each time. She also has seen the dark lights before. She wants to investigate, but the only man she thinks might help is the well-guarded shoanti diplomat Thousand Bones. One of the rescued orphans was the grandson of the shaman and diplomat Thousand Bones. Field Marshal Cressida was very glad since he went missing days ago, and she didnt want problems with the shoanti. Plans of the Lucky Bastards: the mercenary company of the PCs planned to seek a home for the rescued orphans and eventually they want to establish a base of operations here in Korvosa. The PCs went to arrest Verik (as told by a mercenary contract issued by Cressida). Verik setup a shop where he was distributing free meat for the people, but he also deserted from the guard and was reuniting more deserters. The PCs only managed so far to get two of those rebel guards out of the shop to ambush and capture them. One of the ambushed rebel guards attempted to escape to safety and a chase scene happened across Korvosa. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): 1. People in the riots were claiming that they do not want the Queen to fully rule now that the king is dead. Is he really dead? What will happen next? 2. How the shoanti shaman Thousand Bones can help in the mystery of the dark energies found in the Fishery? 3. What Verik and his rebel guards are planning? Is there someone behind them? Awards: 400 XP to Tobias, Gromian, Forniel, Leaf, except Forniel for 300 XP. Treasure: Cressida offered a small reward for rescuing the orphans and Gaekhen: 400 gp for each PC. Also, Marlow will need a bit of time to sell the rest of the loot from the previous session.

Session 4 (04/16/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Arodus, 26-28 Things Done: After taking two renegade guards down (Baldrago and Malder), the PCs went to the butchery to arrest the rest of the renegade guards. They sneaked in from the rooftop, and then began a long fight with the rebel sargeant Verik Vancas and the other two henchmen: Karralo and Parns. They were arrested. Then the PCs took the night to rest and think about recent events. Two days next, they entered the citadel only to find the Queen addressing all military organizations. Highlights: The long fight with Verik, mostly due to so many bad rolls. But also of interest were the swashbuckling card who made all enemies attack Gromian (the group's defender), and other cards too. And all the disarms, stunning, darkness spells, trips, grapples and throws, etc etc. It was really a fight with a lot of cool movements and a lot of status conditions. The reunion in the abandoned building, where Leaf got into discussions with the rest of the group. The Queen's speech at the Citadel, where she gave her gratitude but also asked all the military groups and leaders (Cressida of the Guard, Marcus of the Sable Company, and Maidrayne of the Hellknighs) to investigate more the cause of the recent riots and the missing Seneschal. She also made official the death of King Eodred. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): 1. Who was the woman named Trinia that was in the same room as Verik and that escaped through the windows? What was the "plan" that Verik said that must continue? 2. What was Verik really doing? What were his purposes? 3. As Leaf mentioned, how the people who started rioting did so immediately after the king's death? How did they know so fast? 4. The Seneschal: who is he? Why has he gone missing? Awards: 600 XP to all (Gromian, Tobias, Leaf) 800 gp given to each for arresting Verik and his henchmen. A masterwork silver dagger, 1 vial of spider venom, 1 potion of cure wounds (with power bonus of +2)... see note below. (All the jewerly and miscellaneous items found in session 2 were converted to gp except for the ring, totaling 1425 after Marlow took his commission. This is divided by 3 PCs for 475 gp). (Also, whoever paid the Cow Hammer Boys - the renegade guards - to trick them, gains back those 75 gp). (The weapons that Verik had are considered stolen property from the Korvosan Guard. The guards who came to escort Verik are witnesses of this. So, the Korvosan Guard will want those weapons back. However, some items were found inside a small chest in Verik's office... those three items are given above). (Finally, with all the loot given so far, the estimated amount of money that each PC has is between 2000 to 2500. The treasure chart on the Equipment chapter says that level 2 PCs should have 1,000 gp, so we are good here).

Session 5 (04/20/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Arodus, 28-30 Things Done: This session was more of a 'downtime', where the PCs got to explore the setting and their characters. Highlights: Several funeral rites began in Korvosa to honor the dead king Eodred and the fallen guards and citizens that died during the riots. The PCs started the process to obtain a building where they can establish a base of operations. For this base, they will hire Theandra as a barkeeper and quartermaster. They went looking for her, and found her in her old damaged tavern, fighting two rogue imps with the help of a pseudodragon. Forniel, Gromian, and Leaf interacting in the church of Iomedae, where Forniel told Leaf that the elven enclave might be the first place to look for the information she wants. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): 1. Again, what are those dark lights that erupt from people and attempt to get inside the PCs head? In this session, they found a dying prostitute who expelled these lights. One attempted to attack Tobaias, while two others got lost in the city. Awards: 600 XP to all (Gromian, Tobias, Leaf) +1 replenished Conviction

Session 6 (04/27/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Arodus, 31 Things Done: The PCs went to fulfill their contract of investigating Devargo and an ambassador from Cheliax called Darvayne Gios Amprei. They ended up uncovering a lot more than what they thought or needed. Highlights: On their way to Eel's End, Marlow Bramblefoot spotted Grau dressed in black and with a cloak, traveling through Old Korvosa late in the night. Eel's End in itself: five barges anchored to an old pier in Old Korvosa, each one of the barges serving a different vice of the underworld: drugs, prostitution, gambling, and drinking. Eerie lamps everywhere and all sorts of people in that place. Marlow in the House of Clouds (the barge of prostitution), attempting to search the prostitutes' rooms and also extracting info from them. At the Dragon's Breath Corridor (the barge of drugs and smoking), Leaf and Tobaias interacted with a half-orc man who seemed to be a wealthy merchant. They also interacted with a bizarre elf woman dressed in a leather catsuit with spikes. Tobaias later found that the elf is highly likely to be a cultist of Zon-Kuthon, the evil god of pain and torture. The elf was kicked out of the barge for stirring up trouble by saying all sort of inflammatory political comments. An audience among Devargo, Leaf, and Tobias, which sadly proved to be unfruitful. Marlow sneaking into Devargo's ship much later in the night, traveling through dark corridors and hearing all sort of inhuman noises. In the end, he stole all the correspondence of Devargo. What was in all those letters what much more than what they expected (see below). Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): 1. What was Grau doing without his Guard Sargent armor and going all incognito in Old Korvosa? 2. Who was the half-orc merchant called Urun? 3. Who was the elf lady with dark hair and bizarre catsuit with spikes? Could she really be a cultist of Zon-Kuthon? 4. What was the creature in the lower decks of Devargo's ship? 5. All the letters stolen, what ramifications they can have: The contract and records of shiver trade (a drug), between Devargo and the Arkona noble family The letters and records of smuggled weapons brought from nearby towns including Kaer Maga. Letters from Devargo to Verik asking him to recruit more members. A letter from Glorio Arkona to Devargo saying that he should treat the Vundran twins fine and that Devargo should wait for the next step. Incriminatory letters of the Chelish ambassador Darvayne Gios Amprei having affairs without his wife knowing. Awards: 600 XP to all (Gromian, Tobias, Leaf, Marlow) Money: to be decided, depending on what info the PCs will share with the Guard

Session 7 (05/04/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Rova 1 Things Done: Grau summoned the PCs to handle a delicate situation: the Queen issued an arrest of Trinia, the suspected killer of the King. But the Korvosan Guards want Trinia first, in order to interrogate her and learn more of the Arkonas' plot. The PCs went into a race against time, across the Shingles, to chase and capture Trinia. Highlights: A castle guard was being held by Sabina and two hellknights. He was sobbing and making a confession of how he and Trinia devised a way to poison and kill the King. He was regretting all of that, because the ensuing riots killed many people, including a relative of the guard. The PCs went into Trinia's flat, first getting confused with an illusion of her. But then they spotted Trinia escaping through the window (again) and a chase ensued. Bakar and Hookshanks, ex-henchmen of Gaedren in the Fishery, also joined the chase so they could capture Trinia first. The chase itself was a highlight: all the PCs and Trinia running from roof to roof, evading all sorts of obstacles: from birdcages to chimneys with clouds of soot, and from barrels of water being turned over in their path to rogue imps trying to cut ropes that they used for climbing. And doing all sort of skill checks. And all while fighting Trinia and her magic. Trinia was very close to escape, but Tobaias shoot several magic missiles that knocked her. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): 1. Is Trinia the real assassin of the King? How does this all fit with the plot of the Arkonas? Awards: 1000 XP to all who captured Trinia (Tobias, Gromian, Leaf) Money: 1,000 gp to each PC (Tobaias, Leaf, and Gromian) for all the letters acquired from Devargo. 8,100 for the capture of Trinia. It can be divided by 3 PCs (Tobaias, Leaf, and Gromian), for 2,700 to each PC. (This would place the current PCs -- Tobaias, Leaf, and Gromian -- with an approximate wealth of 6175 gp, more than enough for the current level).

Session 8 (05/18/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Rova 1 to Rova 22 Things Done: The PCs ran a downtime of three weeks, where they attended a lot of personal businesses. Highlights: Vencarlo: The renown swordman Vencarlo Orsini invited the PCs for a walk through the city for a little of sightseeing (mostly East Shore, Thief Camp, and North Point). Through him, the PCs learned that the title of property for their building is finally ready to be purchased, for the discounted amount of 5,000 gp. The PCs will use this building as a base of operations for their Lucky Bastards mercenary group. Vencarlo: They also learned from Vencarlo that Grau and Sabina were apprentices of him, but some kind of dispute or bad incident made Vencarlo not too friendly to Grau anymore. About the Shoanti: tavern keeper Portenus Gaskelinni (friend to Vencarlo) explained that the "mood" of the shoanti is one of uncertainness: they might march upon Korvosa now that the city is getting disorganized, or they might not have the forces yet to do so. The orphans: Tibor, the brother of Lucky Bastard leader Tobaias, came to Korvosa all the way from Nirmathas, to handle the situation with the orphans rescued from Gaedren's Fishery. They both inspected the current states of the orphans, in an city orphanage, and concluded to get them out of Korvosa. It is likely that Tibor will handle them. Gromian and Zellara: The ghost woman appeared to Gromian inside the church of Iomedae, and told him that the dark energies they have been seeing might be linked to the undead incident that the Lucky Bastards had in the Bloodsworn Vale. She also received a vision of a Varisian woman fighting a dragon. She doesnt know is this is a past, present, or future event. Investment: Tobaias and Gromian invested 500 gp each in the Three Rings Tavern, and they extended an invitation to Vencarlo to this bar. A bar fight almost erupted, when some drunken guards (off-duty) showed their envy to the Lucky Bastards for the way they are operating as free agents, with all the money and all the freedom. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): 1. What is the meaning of what Zellara said, about the link between the dark energies and the undead in the Bloodsworn Vale? And what about the vision she had of a Varisian woman fighting a dragon? Past or future event? Awards: 1000 XP to all who played (Tobias, Gromian, Leaf) Money: 500 gp to every member of the Lucky Bastards, as passive income from their mercenary company (as they completed small random contracts).
Session 9 (05/25/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Rova 22 Things Done: A new player was brought, so we talked about the setting and made his character. Then the PCs headed for the Dead Warrens catacombs to rescue the shaman Thousand Bones. Highlights: (not much because of a short session) The new character, Marz, was tasked by Cressida to go and help the PCs rescue Thousand Bones. According to Cressida, this character is an ex-Hellknight, who after having disputes and unfortunate incidents with the Hellknights, decided to quit them and join the Korvosan Guard instead. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): 1. What are those mysterious tracks with four fingers that the PCs have been finding in the Dead Warrens catacombs? Awards: 350 XP to Gromian, Tobaias, Forniel, Marz

Session 10-11 (06/01/2015, 06/08/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Rova 22 Things Done: The Lucky Bastards (PCs) continued their adventure in the Dead Warrens catacombs to rescue the shaman Thousand Bones. They battled many derro and other menaces, rescuing some prisoners, and ultimately rescuing Thousand Bones. They also witnessed the failed execution of Trinia Mabor. Highlights: The PCs entered the Dead Warrens and after fighting a few skeletons and spotting footprints with four fingers, they came to rescue a captive half-shoanti woman named Amiria, who was a bodyguard for Thousand Bones. She remained with the PCs to help them recover the shaman. Marlow also joined them for the adventure. Throughout the catacombs, they fought several derros who ambushed the PCs, using tables as barricades and secret tunnels to coordinate their efforts. They battled a weakened flesh golem who rampaged around until they set it on fire, exploding due to embalming juices getting too hot. Another prisoner was found and rescued: a gnome human named Tiora. Marlow took her out of the catacombs. The long battle with the derro necromancer Vreeg and his coward brother Dreeg. Vreeg was levitating and shot many mana balls that greatly injured the party several times, which was then mass healed by Tobaias on each occasion. He also got to confuse Gromian, cast other annoying spells, and even managed to knock out Marz. But before that, Marz managed to entangle him with a rope and a hook and they pulled him down. Once on the floor, they hit him hard and Amiria delivered the killing blow with her gigantic earthbreaker hammer. Dreeg ran quickly and hid himself in the catacombs. This was a tough battle overall; five PCs vs 1 villain and they still had a lot to worry about. Almost all characters had their resources depleted. The shaman Thousand Bones was found almost intact on a table, unconcious. After Tobaias woke him up, he asked several questions and answered some too, asking for the man called Rolth (who captured him). Thousand Bones also took a crystal sphere with a shimmering dark violet energy. This sphere was resting on a shelf next to him, where some rats with pustules and weird liquids were found. The shoanti shaman didnt know what the sphere was for. But he took it anyway and made no further comments. Only Amiria knows this (and woe to whoever meta-games this): Thousand Bones told her if she will stay in Korvosa or depart to the Cinderlands with him, as Korvosa was now in great danger. Amiria refused, and Thousand Bones wished her luck and he hoped never to encounter her in the armies of the shoanti's enemies. At sunset in the same day, it was announced that the trial of Trinia Mabor concluded and the execution would take place in the Castle's courtyard. There, several important people gathered including Glorio Arkona, Vimanda Arkona, Lady Eliasia Leroung, Zenobia Zenderholm, Marcus, and Cressida. Then the Queen appeared with Sabina and Trinia and the monarch made a speech about how justice will be served. But when about Trinia was going to be executed, a man dressed as Blackjack appeared running towards Trinia with incredible speed and managed to grab her and climb the walls. Marz cast a daze power at him and he barely resisted, getting two crossbow bolts shot on his body while this happened. The nobles ran away, although Marcus and Cressida remained standing to see if anything dangerous would happen. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): What things the derros were doing at the Dead Warrens? Who is the man named Rolth? What was the orb with the dark violet energy? Why Thousand Bones had an attitude of silence, urgency, and worry? Why Blackjack appeared, after so many years of being missing, to rescue Trinia? Awards: 1,800 XP to Gromian, Tobaias, Forniel, Marz, and Amiria (which will be transferred to the new character that Mery makes). 900 XP to Marlow Money: 600 gp to Gromian, Tobaias, Forniel, Marz Vreeg 's Treasure: a ring, a pair of good-looking boots, a robe, a scroll
Session 12 (06/15/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Rova 22 to Lamashan 28 Things Done: Downtime! The PCs had five weeks to resolve some personal things and interact with NPCs. Highlights: Tessara "Leaf" Evanara left a note bidding farewell to the rest of the Lucky Bastards, saying that staying in Korvosa would not help her achieve her personal goals. Partying with Grau: The PCs had a moment to drink and socialize with Grau. They learned from him that Sabina and Grau were apprentices of Vencarlo, but Sabina and Vencarlo had a dispute for which Grau was responsible. He also thinks the seneschal was assassinated. Finally, Marlow followed him to his home, and was able to listen to Captain Alarion tell Grau that he needed to be available for the next days to do an investigation of the Shoanti's purposes. The Lucky Bastards improved their headquarters, adding a maid and a blacksmith. They also completed some routine contracts that involved patrolling and keeping order in the city. Plus they helped the Church of Pharasma clean the Dead Warrens. Tibor, brother of Tobaias, left for Nirmathas taking with him the 7 orphans that the PCs rescued from Gaedren's Fishery. There, Tobaias and Tibor plan to give a better home to the ex-Lambs kids. He also gave Tobaias something to remind him of his family back in Nirmathas. Queen Ileosa eliminated the vice taxes and disbanded the Cerulean Society. She also started filling silos with food for the coming winter. [For Tobaias only] Tobaias wrote a letter to Thousand Bones before he departed to the Cinderlands, explaining the dark energies. Thousand Bones replied that "the violet energies is unlike anything he has seen. Either is something invented completely or is a kind of threat that is emerging from some unknown place. He suspects that whatever it is, is something that is meant to harm Korvosa, and it might be connected to something that King Eodred stole from the Shoanti in the Second Invasion". He advises Tobaias to deliver this letter to the Church of Pharasma, which will take matters in their own hands. The PCs came to the aid of Marcus, who was battling a devil in the Pantheon of the Many. The devil fled and jumped off the western coast cliff, after saying "Korvosa is doomed". Back in the Pantheon, the PCs and Marcus found that the shrine of Asmodeus was defiled and three priests of Shelyn were dead. Marlow and the rest learned that on Lamashan 27, a ship was fired and sunk in the Jeggare river as it entered the city without identifying itself. They learned later, from Cressida, that this ship was the one that had the weapons that Devargo wanted to smuggle. Finally, Zellara gathered the PCs once again and talked about the future and gave them swashbuckling cards. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): [For Tobaias only] What does Thousand Bones knows that everyone else doesn't and that made him leave Korvosa? And why he wrote to Tobaias: "might be connected to something that King Eodred stole from the Shoanti in the Second Invasion". Why the shrine of Asmodeus was defiled by a devil. Why the devil jumped off the cliff and said "Korvosa is doomed". What does Asmodeus has to do with this devil and with Korvosa? Awards: 400 XP to Tobaias, Gromian, Marlow, Marz Money: 200 gp to Gromian, Tobaias, Marlow, Marz from city contracts; plus 300 from contracts with the Sable Company 75 to Gromian and Tobaias, from Theandra Other Treasure: A Brooch of Shielding for Tobaias. Gromian's Shield: A bashing masterwork heavy shield. Marz got a a strange package from a "secret admirer". It contained a nice shirt and some belt. Vreeg 's Treasure was identified: a ring of protection +1, boots of favored environment (urban), a robe of bones, a scroll of mana shield

Session 13 (06/22/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Lamashan 28 to Neth 4 Things Done: A short session. The plague known as the Blood Veil began. Several important NPCs were introduced. Highlights: Grau came to the PCs to ask for help since her niece Brienna caught a bad sickness the day before and a healer from the temple of Abadar (Ishani) has not been able to cure her. The PCs and Grau pooled money together to buy a potion of Cure Sickness for Brienna Soladi (Gromian and Grau put 200 each, Tobaias and Kiki - Mery's new character - put 150 each, and Ishani was able to lower the overall cost to 700 gp) The PCs also investigated how Brienna acquired the sickness. They interrogated her brothers and boyfriend, and eventually found that she acquired it while traveling near Thief Camp and after she stole some coins. A small downtime of 5 days ensued with some minor events. The sickness that infected Brienna became a major plague known as Blood Veil. After resolving the issue of Brienna, Ishani calls the PCs again on Neth 2 to tell them news of the plague. The PCs found out that the stairs leading to the Temple of Abadar were crowded with desperate people seeking help with the plague. Once inside, Ishani told them that the Citadel awaited for them. Inside the Citadel, the PCs find a lot of guards reunited in the courtyard while Cressida addresses them. She explains that the Queen created two new organizations to deal with the rising Blood Veil plague. One of them is composed of doctors from the nearby satellite towns around Korvosa, and these plague doctors wear marks resembling birds. They are led by Doctor Davaulus from Cheliax. The other organization are the Gray Maidens: a new military body composed of women who answers directly to the Queen. By otrder of the Queen, the Guard are tasked with helping the doctors deal with the plague as well as to collaborate with the Gray Maidens. Finally, a brief downtime of 2 days follow in which the PCs deal with unrest in the city due to the Blood Veil plague. Marlow and Kiki contracted Blood Veil at the end of the session. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): The PCs speculated that the devil who was defiling the Pantheon of the Many could be responsible for the plague. Awards: 400 XP to Marlow, Kiki, Gromian, Tobaias Money: To Marlow, Kiki, Gromian, Tobaias: 100 gp from Ishani for their help; plus 200 gp from the Guard as they deal with the unrest following the Blood Veil plague. Conviction: To Marlow, Kiki, Gromian, Tobaias: +1 Conviction for helping Brienna and her family and all the RP and investigation that went there.
Session 14 (07/06/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Neth 5 Things Done: The PCs investigated a woman named Vendra who claimed to have a cure for Blood Veil. They uncovered the scam, and also arrested Hookshanks in the process. Highlights: First Things First: Marlow was cured of Blood Veil thanks to the efforts of everyone. Investigation Summarized: The PCs went to Vendra's shop looking for the cure. They learned that this Chelaxian woman has a history of fraudulent marketing and sales. Marlow joined the long line and interrogated a few people including the witness Solt Carmino who claimed to have been cured. He ventually entered the shop to buy and inspect some vials and analyze their contents. Marz disguised himself as a doctor (wihtout the mask) and went to pursue a man who bought the 'cure', interrogating him and seeing if the cure did an effect when applied to a sick relative of the man. Tobaias also inspected the shop and interrogated the bouncers and Solt Carmino. Bakar and Hookshanks strike again: While investigating Vendra's shop, the dynamic duo of Bakar and Hookshanks appeared again disguised as guards (apparently they learned of the reward that the Temple of Abadar was offering). But once they were about to enter the shop, Tobaias alarmed everyone with his magic that they were actually criminals and not guards. The duo smashed the crystal of the shop and escaped into the city, initiating the third chase scene in the game. Eventually Bakar escaped through the sewers, but Hookshanks what caught and Marz almost killed him. He was arrested and taken to the Citadel. Vendra Arrested: The PC eventually gained enough evidence to uncover Vendra's scam. The Guard issued an arrest on her. Three samples of the supposed cure were acquired and one went to the Temple of Abadar, another to the Church of Sarenrae, and another to the Guard. NPCs Deaths from Blood Veil (these events happened in the 'background'): Gromian learned that Tiora, the gnome woman they rescued from the Dead Warrens, died of Blood Veil. Also, Tayce, the mother of Brienna Soladi, died too of violence surrounding the Blood Veil epidemic. This will be played in the next downtime. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): Nothing new for now. Awards: 550 XP to Marlow, Tobaias, and Marz +100 extra XP for Marlow for spotting in the first instance what was wrong with Solt. Money: 1,200 gp from the Temple of Abadar to be split among Marlow, Tobaias, and Marz (for 400 gp each). +200 gp for Marlow, Tobaias, and Marz, for capturing Hookshanks (sorry, but if the Guard were to pay thousands for every criminal, it will be broke). Conviction: +1 replenished Conviction for Marlow, Tobaias, and Marz: the RPing was nice, well in-character. Gear: 1 masterwork rapier Misc: 900 plague points. These will be explained in future adventures.

Session 15-16 (07/13/2015, 07/27/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Neth 6 and Neth 7 Things Done: The PCs went to quell a rebellion that some wererats were planning. These wererats lived under the city. The PCs also investigated the ship that was sunk days ago and found in it some chests with diseased rats and coins, and some papers incriminating Davaulus as the owner of such disease-carrying ship. Highlights: (This occurred 'off-scene', meaning that the PCs only learned of the news): The Hellknights withdrew from Korvosa. Apparently, their Lictor (topmost leader) recalled the centaur Maidrayne and her Hellknights because they failed to avoid all the chaos that happened in Korvosa for the past months. Eeries Seeks Help: A wererat in human form, named Eeries, contacted the Lucky Bastards privately and asked for a favor. She wanted them to quell a rebellion that another wererat, Girrigz, was planning on Korvosa. Eeries was sure that the rebellion was doomed to fail and Girrigz and other wererats were doomed to die, so she wanted someone not affiliated with the guard to stop their plans. In return, Eeries was going to give some important information. Into the Wererat Lair: The PCs navigated the city sewers until they found Girrigz' den. Here they managed to convince several wererats to abandon their rebellion, but had to fight other wererats anyway. A long battle ensued where the PCs lost quite some damage but were always healed by Tobaias. Girrigz was able to almost kill Marz (3 hit points to death) but he was healed and eventually knocked Girrigz. Other wererats fled. Gromian Spoke: The half-orc Gromain spoke for the first time in the campaign, after Girrigz beat Marz and spit on his dying body. Gromian removed his masks and threatened Girrigz, hitting him subsequently until Marz got up and finished him. Eeries' Revelation: Girrigz' unconcious body was brought to Eeries and she said she was going to take Girrigz out of the city. She then revealed that 10 days ago, when a ship was sunk in the Jeggare river, she noticed strange boxes floating. Upon fetching one, she saw diseased rats and silver pieces in it. She instantly could tell that something smelled bad with those diseased rats, and so she threw the box to the waters. She gave some potions of water breathing to the PCs and suggested they explore the ship. Preparing to Dive: The PCs requested a late meeting with Cressida, Ishani, and Nerus (a cleric of Pharasma). They spoke about the matter of the sunken ship Direption and came up with a plan of exploring it late in the night, to avoid anyone noticing this top secret mission. The clerics cast several spells (including one to protect from the icy waters of the Jeggare) and the PCs departed to the Jeggare River shortly after midnight. Mysterious Lights Again: While they were sneaking around East Shore and Thief Camp, they saw two dark violet energies flying from Thief Camp to North Point, getting lost among the buildings. Inside the Sunken Ship and Battle with the Hag: After swimming for a while, the PCs spotted the sunken Direption ship in the middle of the night and the murky waters of the Jeggare. The ship broke in two halves as it sank. The PCs entered it and inside they found a shark, which was the familiar of a sea hag. A combat followed in which the PCs were rolling high, as they avoided most of the curses that the hag threw at them. They were able to dispose of it fast. Skinning a Shark: Marz, remember that you will bring back the shark that you guys killed in the Jeggare river, for eating it and using the skin to wrap your katana. Marlow Steals Papers Again: While the PCs fought the sea hag, Marlow sneaked past her and found some papers sealed in an airtight container. He grabbed them and swam fast to the surface (thanks to a Swashbuckling card too). He read the papers, which were mostly trade ledgers, but one of them mentioned how the Direption ship was sold to the doctor R. Davaulus and it contained 'specimens'. Dead Doctor of Urgathoa: also in the sunken ship, the PCs discovered the rotting corpse of a plague doctor (still wearing his mask) and found that he was carrying a symbol of Urgathoa. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): Again, the mysterious lights were flying over the city. What they could signify? It was the same lights that have been seen previously, including in Gaedren's fishery. And Thousand Bones recovered one of these lights from the Dead Warrens, encased in a crystal sphere. Who is the 'B7' entity that signed the papers that granted the Direption ship to Davaulus? A dead doctor was discovered in the sunken ship with a pendant of Urgathoa. Some evil people worship Urgathoa but other innocent people plead to her when a bad disease is affecting. So, which one is that dead doctor? Awards: 2,200 XP to Marlow, Tobias, Marz, Gromian, and Kiki +200 extra XP to Tobias, for the vignette and other ideas. Money: 1,000 gp to each PC for the evidence they found in the ship Direption. (Tobaias, Marz, Gromian, Marlow, Kiki) Gear: +2 enhanced silver rapier +2 enhanced short spear bracers of armor +2 From the wererat lair: 30 gp, 3 smokesticks, 1 tanglefoot bag, ornate copper trumpet worth 120 gp, 4 potions of cure wounds (+4 power bonus; 2d6 + 4), eversmoking bottle, minor blessed potion (+2 bonus) From the wererat armory: masterwork chain shirt (x2), 22 daggers, 15 short swords, 6 light crossbows, 4 chain shirts, 12 flasks of alchemist fire, masterwork longsword, 3 masterwork studded leather armor Misc: 400 plague points. These will be explained in future adventures.
Session 17 (08/03/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Neth 8 to Neth 14 Things Done: Another downtime! The PCs witnessed the decaying city and all the turmoil and cruelty that has followed the plague. They also attended some personal matters. Highlights: Sunken Ship Evidence: The session started immediately after they recovered the evidence they found in the sunken ship Direption, which included some papers and a drowned plague doctor. The Pharasma priest Nerus casted magic to make the corpse speak. The corpse told in short repetitive sentences that the he was tasked with navigating the ship into Korvosa but when it was sinking, the Red Mantis jumped off the ship and left him to die. The Red Mantis and Davaulus are behind the ship carrying the plague. Cressida Issue Arrests of Davaulus: After seeing all the evidence recovered in the ship, Cressida issues a secret arrest of Davaulus. Other doctors will not be arrested as they might be innocent. However, Davaulus hasn't been found yet. A Dying City: During this downtime, the PCs got see more how the city has been decaying. Citizens have become more crazy and violent, attacking food silos for the winter, dumping moribund or dead people to the river, abandoning diseased elderly people or children in other wards, people infecting others as act of revenge, Thief Camp being obliterated, and even Gray Maidens found assassinated on the streets. The Closing: Queen Ileosa announces a total quarantine of the city. All gates and roads are closed with outposts of 8 or more Gray Maidens on each gate. The rivers are patrolled by boats of Gray Maidens and no ship can sail without permission. The Sable Company monitors the skies for fugitives. Regarding this quarantine, Cressida agrees with it and thinks that it's for the best, to avoid the plague spreading to other cities. Other Events: Temples have been chock full of people trying to get help. The elven enclave of Mieranni was allowed to leave Korvosa after they were inspected for Blood Veil. Lesser devils continue to be seen at night. House Leroung and House Zenderholm (and House Jeggare on the fence) are thinking of asking Cheliax for direct intervention; while House Arkona and House Ornelos oppose this (as well as House Endrin). NPC Deaths By Blood Veil: Tayce, the mother of Brienna Soladi, died of blood veil violence. She left Brienna, Rello, and Charlo without family. Grau, being the uncle, wanted to adopt them but his duties in the Guard would make him an absentee caretaker. So the Lucky Bastards ended up making room for the three Soladi orphans in their building. Another who died from Blood Veil was Girrigz. When Eeries was taking him out of Korvosa, he found out he was contaminated, and after apologizing to Eeries and the PCs and giving thanks, he rowed to the Jeggare river and drowned himself. Wererat Blood Followup: The organizations that analyzed the wererat blood looking for a cure for Blood Veil found out that it was mostly useless. However, it might work for a cure if this research were to be combined with other research. B7 Group: Marlow was able to investigate this dangerous piece of information with a super duper high Investigation check. He learned from a merchant that the B7 was a group in distant Riddleport which were assassins and conducted evil rituals. Pathfinder Lodge: Tobaias used his Wayfinder compass to find an abandoned lodge of the Pathfinder Society in Old Korvosa. He plans to use it as a safehouse later on. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): Who are the B7 anyway? What are doing the Red Mantis in Korvosa and what do they want? Awards: 2000 XP to Kiki, Marlow, Tobaias, Gromian, Marz Money: 1000 gp to Kiki, Marlow, Tobaias, Gromian, and Marz, as part of routinary contracts of maintaining the city in order 75 to Gromian, Marz, and Tobaias, from Theandra Misc: Two new hirelings for the Lucky Bastards headquarters: Valentia, a female elven spy, and Talarin, male dwarven clerk
Session 18 (08/09/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Neth 15 Things Done: In my notes, the name of this session was: "The Doom that Came to Carowyn Manor". And it was precisely that. The PCs went to investigate a series of disappearances in Carowyn Manor and unearthed things far more incriminating and bigger than what they expected. Highlights: Intrigue at the Marbledome Opera: Cressida took the day off and so she went, well-dressed, to see an opera at the Marbledome (taking Captain Alarion as her bodyguard). She asked that the PCs come to visit her at the opera for some important news. Turned out that she didnt take the day off at all, and was in the opera investigating the disappearance of Ruan Mirukova, a virtuoso who disappeared in a masquerade held at the Carowyn Manor. After she briefed the PCs on their next mission, the opera ended and the PCs were able to see Cressida delivering some letters to the Arkonas. Eerie Manor: The PCs went to South Shore to investigate the manor and the disappeared virtuoso. They find absolutely no signs of presence. The manor on the outside looked completely still, silent, cold, lifeless, and eerie. They spotted some tracks of people with full plate armor going and coming from the manor's entrance. Finally, they decided to climb some fences and entered the manor through a back door. Massacre at the Manor: Once inside, the PCs encountered that a massacre occurred there. There was blood all over the place, which stank of decay, and all sort of objects, dinnerware, decorations, etc., were scattered all around the rooms. They heard some rustling and shuffling noises, and soon discovered walking bloated 'corpses', still dressed in masquerade costumes, and which they had to fight. Ausio Carowyn Survived: They found the owner of the manor, Ausio Carowyn, hiding in the cellar for three days. He turned out to be a coward who hid among his painting supplies, and who retold how the party was interrupted by a elven woman, dressed as a harlequin, who murdered everyone at the party. Ausio waited for the PCs to finish exploring the manor and dealing with that elven woman. Jolistina Attacks: When they reached the second floor, they suddenly were shoot by the elven harlequin, named Jolistina Susperio. Gromian was able to interpose himself in front of the shot, thanks to sheer luck and a swashbuckling card. Then a cat-and-mouse chase happened all inside the manor, where Jolistina ran to different rooms and hid or became invisible, then she suprised-attacked, and ran again. Eventually Marz was able to spot her while hiding, and Gromian crippled her so that she couldn't run. Then she was overwhelmed and captured. Jolistina Interrogated: This was a very hard task, since the psycopath elf was insane and truly a masochist. After a long time trying many different things, they were able to blackmail her and she told almost everything. She narrated how Rolth sent her to the masquerade to kill many people there. She also was tasked to capture a few people and throw several balls with smoke and vials with liquid at them. And then finally open some crystal spheres with dark violet energies in front of the captured victims. They became lemures some days later. Also, Rolth tasked her with capturing the Varisian virtuoso Ruan Mirukova, and hold him. Rolth arrived with two days later with two Gray Maidens and took Ruan with himself. She asked Jolistina to remain in the Carowyn Manor. Debriefing: Some clerics of the church of Pharasma inspected the corpses of those murdered at the manor, and found that they were not undead, but rather lemures (the lowest entities of the Nine Hells). The PCs bound and covered Jolistina and put her in a deep cell within the Citadel. Then they told everything to Cressida, which put her on 'extreme' alert. She continues the manhunt for Davaulus and will try to gather more evidence to incriminate the Gray Maidens and the plague doctors. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): From where those lemures came from? What relation do they have with those murdered in Carowyn Manor or the plague? What is the relationship between the orbs with dark violet energies and what occurred at the Carowyn Manor? What's the fate of Ruan, and why Rolth wanted to capture him? There was an invitation in the party, addressed to Emma? Is this the same person of the ring the PCs found in Gaedren's fishery? Awards: 1,900 XP to Tobaias, Gromian, Marlow, Marz, Kiki, Forniel Treasure: 100 gp from Deyanira, to be distributed among all PCs Free passes for one season of Marbledome shows 500 gp to Tobaias, Gromian, Marlow, Marz, Kiki, Forniel, from Cressida Gear from Jolistina: +1 enhanced light crossbow, +2 enhanced leather armor, potion of invisibility (x2), potion of Cure Sickness (x2), wand of Enhance Attributes (6 charges) Other loot: six doses of pesh (15 gp each), 650 gp in jewelry 1 bottle of wine worth 250, for Tobaias Misc: 500 plague points. These will be explained in future adventures.
Session 19, 20, 21 (08/19/2015, 08/24/2015, 08/31/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Neth 15 to 17 Things Done: The Lucky Bastards had a small downtime after the incident in Carowyn Manor. Then they went to storm the Hospice of the Blessed Maiden: the headquarters of Davaulus and the plague doctors. They had their most intense fight ever and were able to kill Davaulus, but succumbed to the villainous Rolth and Lady Andaisin (priest of Urgathoa). The goddess Pharasma revived them and now they stand knowing that the feeling of victory has escaped their hands and two dangerous criminals are still there plotting to destroy Korvosa. Highlights: Events in the Brief Downtime: The desolation of Korvosa continued to be shown. Organizations like the Guard, Sable Company, and Temple of Abadar have lost many members and now function at a fraction of what they were. Yet the Lucky Bastards have carved a growing place for themselves in the city, being recognized and thanked by some citizens. Expulsion of Church of Asmodeus: The Queen ordered this Church to leave Korvosa. She suspects they are behind the appereances of rogue devils, and she orders the expulsion just to be safe. The Church of Asmodeus blames the Acadamae for the devils and also vows revenge. An investigation on the Acadamae will soon follow. Into the Hospice: The Guard were able to capture a messenger who worked for the Arkonas and who tipped the guards about the lower levels of the Hospice. The guards sent the Lucky Bastards in to use the element of surprise (and to avoid a possible mole leaking info). After some preparations, the PCs became invisible and infiltrated the Hospice. Of Patients, Plague Doctors, and Gray Maidens: Inside the Hospice they found a big room filled with dozens of cots, each one with a dying, sick, or moribund person. Four plague doctors were checking and taking care of them, while 2 Gray Maidens patrolled the area below and 2 patrolled the area above some catwalks. Among the moribund was Idec, the boyfriend of Brienna Soladi. They also found a room, a loading bay, with two lemures chained to the walls. They entered a room with a lift and wanted to use it to get to the secret underground levels, but they needed a key for that. One Gray Maiden spotted one of PCs opening a door (even when they were invisible) and so combat ensued among the Lucky Bastards, the Gray Maidens, and the plague doctors. The combat was quite intense with lots of spells being flung and the Gray Maidens trying to do their best to work together to capture the PCs. Damage was given from both parts, but in the end the PCs drenched the Gray Maidens with a lot of acid spells. The last standing Gray Maiden was going to kill an innocent patient if the PCs didn't surrender, but Gromian stopped her and Tobaias knocked her down with a column of water. It was a taxing combat that depleted the PCs resources somewhat. Uncovered Gray Maiden: Kiki removed the armor of one of the Gray Maidens and below she discovered a woman with carelessly-cut short hair, and scars all over her face, like she was mutilated as part of a ritual or something. Showdown with Davaulus: The PCs then went upstairs to the second floor, looking for a key. Inside they found Gray Maidens guarding the fugitive genocide doctor, Reiner Davaulus. They fought them, launching a lot of spells and blows. Forniel was able to counterspell Davaulus on certain ocassions and of course the rest of the PCs dealt all the damage they could. This combat was more taxing and further depleted the PC's resources. But they were able to render Dr. Davaulus unconcious and capture him. Gromian was thinking of killing Davaulus, but Tobaias Steward stuck to his code of honor and decided to capture him. However, the two plague doctors that never were fought managed to escape the Hospice and alerted other Gray Maidesn nearby. They called for reinforcements and they rushed to the Hospice to guard the entrances and keep the PCs inside. They also discovered among Davaulus' documents, some notes regarding how Varisians are virtually immune to Blood Veil and how this might work for a cure. To the Lower Levels: With a key they found in Davaulus, the Lucky Bastards used the lift to access the lower levels, where they encountered a temple dedicated to Urgathoa. They were able to see several rooms were the plague doctors rested or conducted experiments. They even saw an horrific room with hundreds of corpse remains, some animated, and some lemures too, piled up behind walls of glass. Then they entered a room with three huge metal vats with liquid inside, and their darkest hour followed. The PCs' Darkest Hour (so far): In this new room awaited the necromancer Rolth with several Gray Maidens, plague doctors, and priests of Urgathoa. The Lucky Bastards started the fight with a lot of massive spells that killed and injured most of the lesser foes. But the remaining ones fought back hard and Rolth was able to inflict much damage with his ice spells. The PCs resources were already low, but they did their best to fight to the last hit point. Lots of damage happened. But in the end the PCs were pushed back, and Lady Andaisin joined the fight. Overwhelmed, the PCs decided to do last-resort actions: Tobaias smashed the crystal walls with undead behind, and also killed an unconcious Davaulus (so the genocide doctor could not kill again). And then the villaisn finished the Lucky Bastards. Audience with Pharasma: Apparently doomed, the Lucky Bastards woke up in an unusual and supernatural cathedral of Pharasma. The goddes herself spoke to them and told that, knowing fate, she saw that the PCs had an important role in twarting the hellish invasion that is occurring on Korvosa. She told them to return and keep doing good, and so Pharasma resurrected them. The Sable Company to the Rescue: After the audience with Pharasma, the Lucky Bastards revived in a church with Marcus, Grau, and other members of the Sable Company and the Guard. The Sable Company came to the Hospice after the PCs sent a magical message to Cressida, and the marines battled the remaining foes. But Rolth and Andaisin apparently escaped. More details will be given in the next sessions. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): Why the Church of Asmodeus was kicked out of Korvosa? Who is Lady Andaisin (besides a priestess of Urgathoa working below the Hospice) and what are her motives? Why the Gray Maiden that Kiki undressed has her face and hair mutilated? What is really happening with the 'hellish invasion' that Pharasma spoke of? Awards: 2,800 XP for Kiki, Tobaias, Gromian, Forniel. NOTE: these were already given amid the Hospice encounter. +400 XP to Kiki, Tobaias, Gromian, Forniel for secretly entering the Hospice invisible, which didnt give time to Davaulus for joining with his fellow evil NPCs. NOTE: these were already given amid the Hospice encounter. New XP: 4,400 to Kiki, Tobaias, Gromian, Forniel (this XP is for the defeat of Rolth, the Gray Maiden lieutenant, all other foes, and the trap, but not for Andaisin). Treasure (that they were able to recover and keep after dying): 2000 gp to Kiki, Tobaias, Gromian, Forniel (Payment from the Guard and the Sable Company). From Davaulus' corpse: potion of Cure Sickness; +1 enhanced bane rapier (non-human citizens of Korvosa); +1 enhanced chain shirt; amulet of natural armor +1 From room: robe of bones with an image of a skeleton and a zombie 11 platinum pieces 75 gp Misc: 1 replenished Conviction for Gromian and Tobaias (for RP-related actions). NOTE: these were already given amid the Hospice encounter and were spent. 1 new replenished Conviction to everyone. Despite the PCs' deaths, you all fought very hard until the end. I'm reeeally amazed and satisfied at how you all fought. 500 plague points. These will be explained in future adventures. Returning Items: The PCs must return some items that they borrowed from the City Guard. Gromian needs to return an amulet of natural armor +2. The rest were expendable items.
Session 22 (11/02/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Neth 18 to Neth 27 Things Done: And we returned from a 'longer-than-expected' hiatus, where we moved the campaign online and waited to recruit more players. We adjusted characters, learned the Roll20 app, brought a new player, and started playing the big downtime between books 2 and 3. Highlights: Grau Re-Tells the Aftermath of the Hospice: While the PCs were recovering after they stormed the Hospice and died, Grau told all the story of how they found a big chaos down there, with some Gray Maidens, many dead or moribund people, undead, bizarre monsters, etc. Grau and company also found the virtuoso Ruan, being experimented upon by a vampire who escaped. Then the rest of the Hospice was cleaned, even with magic. No signs of other cultists were found. Davaulus Interrogation: Grau, Marcus, and the rest of the rescue team brought back the corpse of Davaulus, who was magically interrogated by Aelfrick, a good doctor working for the Church of Pharasma. Davaulus' corpse spoke that he developed the plague and was helped by the Red Mantis and the Church of Urgathoa, including Rolth. He told that the plague was developed to "help the conduit". He told that the Queen did NOT hire him, but when asked who hired him, the corpse screamed and the magic ended. A Cure for Blood Veil: The Lucky Bastards, along with all the samples and papers they recovered, asked the good doctor Aelfrick to try and complete a cure for Blood Veil. He was able to gather all his knowledge and come up with a remarkable method of synthetizing the properties of Varisian blood that grant immunity to Blood Veil. Marz Bids Farewell: The Lucky Bastards, when returning one day to their headquarters, found a note written by Marz saying the he went on an important mission and that they should not seek him. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): What is the "conduit" that the corpse of Davaulus mentioned, and that the plague was developed for helping that? Who was the vampire Ramoska that was experimenting on the virtuoso Ruan, and for what purpose exactly? For who Davaulus was working? Awards: 400 XP for Tobaias, Gromian, Aelfrick. Treasure: 2000 gp to Kiki, Tobaias, Gromian, Forniel (This is a payment from the Guard and the Sable Company that was given after storming the Hospice, but I noticed that you guys never accounted for it). 1000 gp to Gromian and Tobaias, for all the effort in collecting the previous samples and papers for the cure. 1000 gp to Aelfrick for joining all the clues to develop a cure. The PCs sold some unwanted magic items. This generated 5,133 gp in total. It was distributed like this: 831 to Tobaias, 3,302 to Gromian, and 1,000 went to cast permanent hallow magic in the second base of the Lucky Bastards. (These items were: Oil of keen edge, Scroll of mana shield, Bracers of armor +2, +2 enhanced leather armor, potion of Cure Sickness (x3), +1 enhanced chain shirt, Masterwork Silver Dagger). Misc: Negative Level Progression: Tobias and Gromian died on level 6, so to get rid of the negative level, they need to accumulate 6,000 xp after they died. So far they have accumulated 4,800 xp. There are only 1,200 left. Reputation: The PCs developed the cure and actually spread the word about this. While some random people in the streets dispute who created the cure, in the end many Korvosans know that it was a mercenary company called the "Lucky Bastards". They even got a 'VIP' status with several organizations: the Guard, the Sable Company, and the Churches of Abadar, Sarenrae, and Pharasma. With this status and reputation, the PCs can actually meet with top figures of such organizations.

Session 23 (11/09/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Neth 28 to Kuthona 9 Things Done: We ran the rest of the big downtime between books 2 and 3. Highlights: Public Executions: The Queen set a public execution of some plague doctors. She first delivered a speech lamenting and apologizing for her mistake in appointing Davaulus and his corrupt doctors in dealing with the plague. In days before, she disbanded the plague doctors, some of them confessed, while others were executed or arrested, and a few innocent ones were banished from Korvosa. She also said how some Gray Maidens were bribed by Dr Davaulus and were traitors. Then she had a big pyre where they burned the corpse of Davaulus. Meanwhile, a dozen doctors were tied and held by the neck to different gallows and a public stoning of them took place. Some citizens were called forward and handed knives, with which they slit the throats of the helpless doctors. Isolated Old Korvosa: The Queen decided to cut off Old Korvosa from the main city due to all the unrest there, the constant violence, and the threat of the plague still staying strong there. The Gray Maidens destroy every single wooden bridge leading to the smaller island, set-up a strong barricade on the remaining stone bridge, and declare total martial law on this district. Nobody can leave, curfews are put, outside people are advised to stay out, and no commercial activity can happen without authorization. Portents: Tobaias had a weird vision or illusion where he was speaking with a strange man inside the Lucky Bastards tavern. The man said that nobody can do much regarding Korvosa, as Korvosans are cursed with outside powers by their own fault, and the man might not be able to control that. All that remains is to fight to vanquish the threat that affects Korvosa. The man points out that Neolandus knows more and that he is alive somewhere in Old Korvosa. Also, Gromian had lucid dream where he was near the Worldwound, and an armored woman (possibly Iomedae) told him that Korvosa could suffer a fate similar to Sarkoris and the Worldwound. She urged Gromian to seek help outside of Korvosa. Zellara Appears Again : The ghostly Varisian fortuneteller appeared for a brief moment to give her usual cryptic messages. She spoke of a rebel entity which might be related to all the recent tragedies in Korvosa, and she also spoke of a trail coming to an end in a precipice. As usual, she gave several of her Harrow cards to the PCs, imbued with bizarre magic powers (the 'swashbuckling cards'). End of Marcus and the Sable Company: On Kuthona 9, Queen Ileosa decided to hold another public address in the Castle Courtyard. Along with her were Sabina in full Gray Maiden suit, a bloated mage called Togomor, the commandant Marcus, and Cressida. Ileosa explained her quaranteening of Old Korvosa and appointed the mage Togomor as the next seneschal, while disbanding the Sable Company. Marcus couldn't stand it anymore, so she attacked Ileosa with a crossbow. Ileosa surprisingly resisted a critical hit on the neck and then she grabbed Marcus with tremendous strength, paralyzed him, and hurled him inside the Castle. A violent skirmish ensued where the remaining Sable Company marines fought with Gray Maidens. The multitude of citizens stampeded down the castle pyramid while Cressida and the Lucky Bastards fled to secure places. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): Aelfrick investigated one of the empty crystal spheres that contained some of mysterious violet energies, and found that inter-planar banishment magic was cast on the spheres, ~8 months ago. And two of the spheres analyzed were created by the same person/entity. Where is the missing seneschal Neolandus, since apparently he is alive? What does he knows about the events on Korvosa? What is the rebellious figure that Zellara mentioned? Also, what does the trail into the precipice mean? Why the Harrow realm (from where Zellara draws her portents and divinations) is quiet? Who is Togomor, the big mage from the Acadamae who was appointed as the new senescal? What exactly did Ileosa do when she fought with Marcus? Is Marcus dead or alive? Awards: Treasure: 600 gp each for completing City Guard contracts. Also, Gromian and Tobaias receive 75 gp as passive income from Theandra's tavern. For Tobias: he earned a ring of protection +1 blessed by Caylean, that also dispels fear and can transform water into beer. For Gromian: he earned a crimson cloak of resistance +1 that also allows the use of Smite Opponent once per day, and can manifest the symbol of Iomedae at will. Misc: New Swashbuckling Cards were distributed among the PCs (remember, they can be exchanged; you must state this beforehand). Cards for Tobias: "This is extract of... llama!" "Of course you know, this means war" Cards for Gromian: "You're not a guard. Neither are you." "The Magic Goes Away" Cards for Aelfrick: "Raaaaagghh!!!!!!" "It looks like a big... Johnson!"

Session 24 (11/16/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Kuthona 10 Things Done: We played several climatic encounters where the enemies of Korvosa made an all-out attack and stormed the Citadel, as well as the Lucky Bastards' headquarters. Highlights: Winter is Coming Here: Kuthona, the last month of the year, finally came to Korvosa and snow has been engulfing Korvosa with more gloom, desperation, and bleakness, all after it has endured the riots and the plague. Will more citizens perish from the cold winds? Extracting the Sable Company Marines: On the afternoon of Kuthona 10, Marlow came with a mission assigned by Alarion by which they needed to smuggle out six Sable Company marines who were holed up in an abandoned taver in East Shore. After using subterfuge, invisibility, and illusions to reach the marines, they smuggled them out on a boat, rowing through the icy waters of the Jeggare river and out of East Shore. The marines thanked them and went to one of the satellite towns. The Citadel is Under Attack!: Returning at night from East Shore, the PCs heard the sounds of battle in the distance: clashes of steel, shouts, and explosions. When they rushed over the High Bridge, they found an all-out attack on the Citadel. Dozens and dozens of Gray Maidens were battling the guards while arrows and spells were flung from both sides. But a swarm of imps were harrassing the guards atop the walls and dozens of other devils (barbazu, osyluths, and gelugons) were rushing towards the Citadel. Finally, a big winged devil called Makroveras stood on top of the walls, decapitating guards with his barbed chain. The Lucky Bastards recognized that this was an unwinnable battle and went rapidly to their headquarters. Assault on the Headquarters: Upon arriving to their headquarters, the Lucky Bastards saw how it was under attack too, by a detachment of Gray Maidens, barbazu, and Red Mantis. Talarin, the clerk of the Lucky Bastards, rushed out to help the kid Rello but one of the Red Mantis, called Kayltanya, decapitated Talarin. The same fate could have fell on Rello, but he was saved by Tobias who shot acid spells at one Gray Maiden, Gromian who ran to grab the kid, and Aelfrick who put the other Gray Maidens to sleep. Then the Lucky Bastards decided to flee towards North Point but their enemies started chasing them. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): Who ordered or organized the attacks on the Citadel, and why? From where they came, all the devils that attacked the Citadel? Who ordered the assault on the Lucky Bastards headquarters? What is the fate of NPCs that were in the Citadel, like Cressida, Alarion, and all the villains that the PCs have arrested? What is the fate of the remaining Lucky Bastards who were not with the PCs (Forniel, Amiria), as well as the other orphans? Awards: 2,200 XP for Tobaias, Gromian, Aelfrick, Marlow. Misc: Negative Level Progression: Tobias and Gromian died on level 6, so to get rid of the negative level, they need to accumulate 6,000 xp after they died. So far they have accumulated 7,000 xp. So this penalty is over.
Session 25 (11/25/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Kuthona 10 to Kuthona 11 Things Done: The session began with the Red Mantis chasing the NPCs from their headquarters to Old Korvosa. Then a role-play encounter happened with Grau and Theandra. Finally, the PCs visited Vencarlo's home and were ambushed by the Red Mantis. Highlights: The Chase: After attacking the Lucky Bastards headquarters, Mistress Kayltanya, four Red Mantis, and four barbazu went after the PCs and chased them through the streets of Korvosa. For some reason, Mistress Kayltanya and two Red Mantis retired from the chase. The PCs fooled the rest of the pursuers with magic and they were able to escape them, hiding in Theandra's tavern for a while. The PCs went hiding in their second hideout: an abandoned Pathfinder Lodge in Old Korvosa. Grau's Tale: That same night of Kuthona 10, Grau appears by their second hideout, thanks to the Wayfinder that the PCs lend to Cressida. A very shaken Grau told the story of how the Citadel was rampaged by devils and how Cressida ordered Grau to escape and seek the Lucky Bastards, to deliver some final orders about defeating the corrupt monarchy. He also was in shock and even cried when the PCs told them about the attack on their first headquarters and the capture of Grau's nephews (except Rello, who is with the PCs). Ambushed at Vencarlo's Home: The next day, the PCs went to Vencarlo's home after Grau gave them a letter from Vencarlo inviting them to his home. They found the home completely empty and then were ambushed by two Red Mantis who set the house on fire. After killing them and escaping the burning house, they took with them a metal chest that they found in Vencarlo's home. Also, some citizens of Old Korvosa went to try to put out the fire and one of them was the merchant Amin Jalento, who was badly injured during the King Death's riots. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): Why the Red Mantis were hiding in Vencarlo's home and ambushed the PCs? Awards: 4,200 XP to Gromian, Aelfrick, and Tobias Misc: Vencarlo's Chest +1 Conviction for good RP (already given and written down)
Session 26 (11/30/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Kuthona 11 to Kuthona 12 Things Done: The PCs wrapped up some things from the past session and then they tried to find Vencarlo. Highlights: Blackjack Revealed: The PCs opened the chest that they got from Vencarlo's home. Inside, they found a complete set of garments and weapons that were identical to the ones that Blackjack used, thus revealing that Vencarlo is Blackjack. They also found a series of papers were Vencarlo was writing some ideas for establishing a rebel group in Old Korvosa. "Blackjack" Reappears: The Lucky Bastards decided to attract the attention of the missing Vencarlo by having Gromian don Blackjack's gear and pretend to be him. He went near the stone bridge in Old Korvosa and threw a Red Mantis helmet to a group of squabbling citizens and Gray Maidens. This drew the attention of everyone and became the talk of the day. But it had one unintended drawback: more security was sent to look at Old Korvosa. Interview with the Red Mantis: Aelfrick interviewed Yves, a half-elf dead Red Mantis from the ambush at Vencarlo's home. He spoke that Togomor and Queen hired the Red Mantis. Yves also confessed that the Queen didn't ordered the attack on Vencarlo's home, nor on the Lucky Bastards headquarters. Finding Vencarlo: The PCs continued to seek Vencarlo. They even went to the house of a local artist named Salvator, that knew Vencarlo. But they saw the mysterious elf that they saw many months ago in Eel's End, and turned back. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): Someone other than the Queen is giving orders in secret, perhaps with or without her consent. Might be the new seneschal Togomor, as he and the Queen hired the Red Mantis to be in Korvosa. However, the attack on the Lucky Bastards headquarters and Vencarlo's home were not ordered by the Queen. Who is Pilts, who was mentioned several time during their investigation in Old Korvosa? Who is the mysterious elf woman that was in Eel's End and Salvator's House? Awards: 1,000 XP to Gromian, Aelfrick, and Tobias

Session 27, 28 (12/07/2015, 12/21/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Kuthona 13 Things Done: The PCs followed the leads towards the base of crimelord Pilts Swastel, where Vencarlo and/or Salvator could be. They attempted to infiltrate the place but a fight ensued and finally Bakar was able to identify them as the Lucky Bastards. Pilts decided to strike a bargain with them. Highlights: Pilts and His Men: The PCs decided to capture a few of the thugs working for Pilts. They set up a trap for them and were able to capture and charm one of them. The thug told them all about Pilts: how he used to own a playhouse and then ascended through the criminal world of Old Korvosa; how he set-up a base in Old Korvosa after the quarantine hit and now he wants to slowly conquer Old Korvosa and wrestle power from Glorio. And many other details. Infiltration: The Lucky Bastards also attempted to forge a letter from Glorio to be able to get into Pilts Palace, but in the end they infiltrated it the old fashioned way: by being sneaky and using powers to their favor. They also took Grau dressed as Blackjack with them. The Elf Again: While they were sneaking into Pilts Palace, they spotted the mysterious elf that they have seen twice in the past, but this time she was too attempting to infiltrate Pilts Palace. They lost track of her after a while. But at the end of this encounter, they learned from Pilts' thugs that the elf was spotted inside the palace but she escaped through a dark portal. Marz Reappeared: Just before entering Pilts' Palace, the PCs saw two thugs carrying an unconscious Marz. They rescued him and thus Marz re-joined his old colleagues. Pilts' Bargain: While sneaking into Pilts' Palace, the thugs spotted them and combat ensued. However, Bakar recognized them as the Lucky Bastards and Pilts halted the combat. He then offered a bargain to the PCs: if they help him get rid of Devargo (who has been hiding in some sewers and is ambushing Pilts' men), then the PCs will be able to see Salvator. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): The mysterious elf again! Why does she wants Salvator? Awards: 2,800 XP to Gromian, Aelfrick, Tobias, and Marz

Session 29 (12/28/2015): In-Game Date: 4708, Kuthona 14 Things Done: The Lucky Bastards bargained with Pilts and went after an old foe: Devargo Barvassi. They got a suprise when they saw him but eventually vanquished the King of Spiders. Then they had an audience with the mysterious elf Laori Vaus and later with the artist Salvator. Highlights: Marz bid farewell again and told the PCs that the devils might be acting rogue without the authority of the arch-devils. The King of Spiders (literally): The PCs went to some sewers near the destroyed Eel's End, to hunt down Devargo who has been abducting Pilts' men. Once inside they found two barbazu and Devargo, who was no longer human but a bizarre monstrosity that looked like a fiendish half human, half spider creature. Combat with Devargo: after some combat in which the PCs got quite some decent damage, Devargo and his barbazu aides perished. The PCs discovered one signet ring identifying Devargo (proof of his demise for Pilts) and three empty crystal spheres like the ones they saw before with violet energies. Then they dragged Devargo's tranformed body through the streets of Old Korvosa to make a statement. The Mysterious Elf, Once Again: While dragging Devargo's corpse around, the mysterious elf appeared once more and introduced her as Laori Vaus, priestess of Zon-Kuthon. She mentioned that she has been trying to find Salvator for a bit of friendly, innocent questioning, as he possesses some qualities that are of interest to her church. She saw that the only realistic way of achieving this was to seek the aid of the PCs. She offered information in return. Audience with Salvator: At last, Pilts made his promise (although a bit hesistant) to allow an audience with Salvator. Under the watch of Jabbyr, Salvator told Tobaias how he had some bizarre dreams that inspired him into painting the gruesome works for which he is famous. But he no longer had such inspiration and that's why Pilts constantly beats him. And also, after being asked a question from Laori if he kept dreaming about the blue dragon Kazavon, Salvator then replied that yes, but he is no longer dreaming about him. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): Why Devargo was transformed into such spider-like monstrosity? Why there were two barbazu with him and three crystal spheres? What else does Laori wants from Salvator? Why Salvator has such prophetic dreams and who is the blue dragon Kazavon that he dreamt? What does this all have to do with everything else in the campaign. Awards: 3,800 XP to Gromian, Aelfrick, Tobias, and Marz Treasure: Devargo's gear: potion of cure wounds (2d6 + 4), potion of invisibility, masterwork bladed gauntlets (2)

Session 30 (01/06/2016): In-Game Date: 4708, Kuthona 14 to 15. Things Done: It was a 100% RP session. Exiting Pilts' Palace, the PCs gave Laori the information she wanted and then she promised she would get Salvator again. Then they had a very brief downtime and proceeded to seek an audience with Glorio Arkona, which revealed and promised quite some interesting things. Highlights: Laori, Until We Meet Again : Outside of Pilts' Palace, the PCs reunited with Laori and delivered some information that they got from Salvator, like the strange dreams and the mention of Kazavon the blue dragon. Laori promised that she was going to extract Salvator from Pilts' home and then she handled the PCs a piece of clothing belonging to Neolandus. She told them that she found such scrap in the home of Salvator. Then she bid farewell. Half-Human, Half Devil : Aelfrick inspected one of the barbazu corpses that they dragged from Devargo's den. After hours of research, they found a small human toe protuding between the barabzu's big clawed toes. The PCs then correlated the violet energies with the devils, and concluded that they are transforming people to devils (and also that Blood Veil helped in such transformation). Glorio's Story : The next day, they went to Glorio Arkona's impressive and luxurious palace to seek an audience with him, since all clues now pointed that Neolandus and Vencarlo were trapped in this place (Tobias even used a Hallow power effect to learn this). They met Carnochan, Glorio's majordomo, and then had an audience with him. Glorio told them several things. First, that Vencarlo and Neolandus are indeed in his place. But then he told how they are now being held by his lover, Melyia, in some underground labyrinth after she made a 'coup' in their House and wrestled away most of the power, men, and resources that Glorio had. Melyia now wants what Glorio wanted: to rule Korvosa, and to this ends she is seeking how to use the two important prisoners. So, Glorio told them that they could fetch the prisoners and asked them if they could enact revenge on Melyia. She is a threat anyways to the PCs and the city. Glorio explained that he no longer wants or can be Korvosa's monarch, after Melyia's coup left him weakened and after witnessing the sudden powers of the Queen. In the end, Glorio crafted a small contract with the Lucky Bastards for the rescuing of the prisoners and the elimination of the Arkona traitors. He also explained how to traverse the Labyrinth, talking about the rotation of the dungeon and how there is a sphinx named Sivit who maintains the labyrinth and its traps. Glorio handed a letter and an amulet to the PCs, so they present them to such sphinx in an attempt to secure her aid. Finally, Tobias was toying with the idea of making Glorio the king (since Ileosa could be worse). The PCs made some preparations for the Labyrinth: They will get common gear for a dungeon. Potion of Spider Climb: 300 gp (paid by Tobias) They crafted 4 potions of Cure Wounds (4d6 + 8) for a cost of 800 (split by Tobias and Gromian). They crafted 1 potion of Enhance Attribute (Str, +16 power bonus) for a cost of 800 (Gromian paid it). They crafted 1 potion of Haste (+4 bonus) for a cost of 300 (Gromian paid it). Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): What Neolandus was doing in Salvator's home? Awards: 1,400 XP to Gromian, Aelfrick, and Tobias Misc: +1 Conviction point to Gromian, Aelfrick, Tobias: good RP and analysis was carried out.

Session 31 (01/18/2016): In-Game Date: 4708, Kuthona 15 (at night) Things Done: Mostly a combat session (after last session's RP). Several thugs loyal to Melyia were fought and the PCs descended into the underground caverns of Palace Arkona to seek Melyia. But before that, they had to fight a rakshasa guardian and his two undead-like creations. Highlights: Combat at One-Room Jungle: The thugs loyal to Melyia discovered the mercenaries that Glorio hired (the Lucky Bastards) and so a combat ensued through the corridors of Palace Arkona. It concluded at an interior garden in the Palace, made to look like a tropical jungle (complete with magic that kept the place warm even on winter). Bolts were fired, punches were thrown, spells were flung, 1s were rolled, and in the end the PCs decimated the thugs and escaped through the statue's underground stairs. Ambush on The Bridge: Continuing the journey to the underground caverns and the Labyrinth, the Lucky Bastards were ambushed by some bizarre monsters that were invisible, flying, and looked like gigantic skeletons. Gromian was thrown over a bridge but he managed to catch on the ledge and climb back. Then a hidden mage started casting powerful magic at the PCs. After Grau slashed the skeletons weakened by Aelfrick, Tobaias kept the party alive, and Gromian catapulted onto the mage and pinned him down, the combat was finally over. The PCs were quite damaged and stressed. Rakshasa Revealed: The mage battling the PCs turned out to be a dreaded and sneaky rakshasa when it died and his true form was revealed. He had the head of a lion and his fingers were backwards. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): Nothing new for now. Awards: 3,600 XP to Gromian, Aelfrick, and Tobias Treasure: Boots of Elvenkind that Aelfrick looted from the Rakshasa
Session 32-33 (01/25/2016, 02/03/2016): In-Game Date: 4708, Kuthona 15 (at night) Things Done: The PCs braved the Vivified Labyrinth, seeking to rescue Neolandus and Salvator, and battled Melyia Arkona and her henchmen. Highlights: The Revolving Dungeon: Shortly after they entered the Vivified Labyrinth under the Arkonas' Palace, the PCs noticed what Glorio told them: that the dungeon's room and hallways rotated and changed as different levers were turned. They had to keep trying and explore different configurations of the dungeon, and bypass several traps. But the dungeon many times rotated against their will, suggesting that there were other creatures in the dungeon manipulating it. Lady of the Labyrinth: After the rotation of one of the Labyrinth rooms finished, the PCs were suprised by a sphinx who pounced and attacked them for a while. They all exchanged blows and powers, rotating the dungeon in between, until they showed the sphinx Sivit some papers and amulets given by Glorio. The sphinx acknowledged the PCs' alliance with Glorio and so she stopped attacking them and helped them. Here are some highlights of this aid: * Sivit mentioned how Melyia told her that Glorio wants to destroy the Arkona's legacy and be the sole ruler of Korvosa. * She told how Melyia has been spying on them since a long time. * Sivit gave them the password for some of the traps' dungeon. Showdown with Melyia Arkona: After one more rotation of the dungeon, the PCs entered a room where Melyia had Vencarlo tied to chains and three more Arkona henchmen appeared. Sivit took care of two of them while the PCs had a long battle with Melyia and one henchmen. They exchanged blows, made somersaults with flying kicks, casted a lot of powers, were hit by a lot of lightning, and more. They depleted all their stamina and most of their hit points (Tobaias fell unconcious once). In the end, though, Melyia was depleted too and so she teleported to another room. Melyia's Treachery: during their encounter with Melyia, she oftentimes spoke about how Glorio was the true menace (she could have been lying) and even tried to bribe the Lucky Bastards to side with her. She also mentioned how she has a lot of influence in Korvosa's government thanks to her magical spying, a tool she has been using to even spy on the PCs since many months ago. Melyia Captured; Neolandus and Vencarlo Rescued: The Lucky Bastards pursued Melyia into another level of the dungeon, where they found Neolandus being tortured by a six-armed and three-faced female figure called Shensiir. Melyia quickly told her to help, but then Gromian grappled and bound Melyia, asking for all of them to surrender. Melyia was took captive towards Glorio. Meanwhile, Tobaias grabbed Neolandus and teleported him towards the upper levels, where he grabbed Vencarlo too and teleported out of the dungeon and into the Lucky Bastards headquarters. They Are All Rakshasas: As they killed Melyia's henchmen, their heads transformed to the heads of several animals: boar, crocodile, and condor. Rakshasas in fact. And when Tobias teleported out of the dungeon, Sivit told her the last word of "they are all rakshasas". Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): Why there were many rakshasas under the Arkona's Palace? Who is really telling the true and who is the real threat? Melyia or Glorio? What new information do Vencarlo and Neolandus have? Awards: 6,600 XP to Gromian, Aelfrick, and Tobias Treasure: Loot in a rakshasa's room: 1-foot-long blue-coral gecko (300 gp), firepelt cougar carved (200 gp), and a gold flame drake with tiny pearls for eyes (1,200 gp).
Session 34 (02/17/2016): In-Game Date: 4708, Kuthona 15 (at night) Things Done: The PCs exited the Vivified Labyrinth only to find Old Korvosa under attack by another wave of devils. They helped evacuate the district and then fled to outside of Korvosa. Highlights: Back at the Headquarters: Tobias, Neolandus, and Vencarlo teleported to the abandoned lodge that serves as the second headquarters of the Lucky Bastards. There, they briefed Neolandus and Vencarlo of all the recent events of Korvosa (basically, most of the campaign. The Execution of Melyia: Meanwhile, Gromian, Aelfrick, and Grau escaped the Vivifyed Labyrinth and had a small audience with Glotio Arkona, where he explained a few last things about his life and old plans. Then he woke up the unconcious Melyia, only to exchange a few words and then he ordered Carnochan to execute Melyia. The PCs received their promised reward and exited the Palace. Hell Breaks Loose Again: When both groups of PCs and NPCs exited their respective places, they found the city under attack again by devils. Mavrokeras sent a detachment of the usual devils (imps, barbazu, and even one gelugon) to Old Korvosa along with some Gray Maidens. They stormed the streets and killed many civilians, while capturing and dragging away others. Hold the Gates!: The Lucky Bastards quickly mounted defense and coordinated an effort to evacuate the remaining civilians. They set up barricades and lit them, commanded Glorio's men to hold gates and stand their ground armed, and devised ways in which the civilians could climb down the cliff and escape the city via the frigid Jeggare River. Gray Maidens to the Massacre: After the civilians and the Lucky Bastards were on boats escaping the city, a small group of 12 Gray Maidens appeared to open fire and toss burning oil on the frightened civilians. The Lucky Bastards killed the Maidens with kicks, swords, and spells and saved most civilians aboard except for a few who fell to the cold water and drowned. Bakar and Laori Just Can't Stop Appearing: The shady Bakar appeared again among the civilians, pleading Tobias to escape aboard their boats. Laori too appeared during a moment, opening a dark portal and inviting Tobias to escape the city through it. Gathering the Civilians: Outside Korvosa, the PCs and Neolandus gathered the civilians and rallied the to march to Harse, the town where a resistance is building up. The PCs and NPCs also had a meeting to discuss recent events. Grau decided to stay in Old Korvosa and help find Cressida and other NPCs. Finally, when they were moving away, a an collapsed in pain and a malformed imp oozed through his chest, both dying in the process. Aelfrick took the imp's corpse. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): What would happen to Glorio Arkona, now that Melyia is dead, most of his men are dead or gone, and Old Korvosa generally went to hell? Is he also a rakshasa? Awards: 2,000 XP to Gromian, Aelfrick, and Tobias Treasure: Glorio handed them a heavy chest with a hefty reward for clearing out the Vivified Labyrinth and making Melyia pay. The treasure is divided: 40,000 gp for each active PCs and Grau.

Session 35-36 (02/24/2016, 03/09/2016): In-Game Date: 4708, Kuthona 15 (at night) to Kuthona 21 Things Done: The PCs escorted a band of Korvosan refugees to the village of Harse. Once there, they had a meeting where they planned a rebellion to retake Korvosa. The meeting was attended by the Lucky Bastards, Vencarlo, Neolandus, Trinia, ex-marines from the Sable Company, ambassadors from nearby towns, a member of the Church of Asmodeus, and a shoanti scout. Then they departed to the village of Sirathu to find Maydraine and enlist the Hellknights. Highlights: Marz' Motives: Marz appeared to reveal his true motives: that he was working for Eliasia Leroung all this time. He mentioned that the devils were never conjured by the Church of Asmodeus, but there seems to be a powerful devil that escaped Hell and is masterminding the devil invasion of Korvosa. Then he returned to Korvosa to guard Elisia. Trinia, Long Time No See: Just before the meeting in Harse, the PCs found an old face: Trinia Mabor. She got very mad upon seeing the PCs and even tried to slap Tobias. Gromian and Vencarlo intervened and explained that they are not the enemies, that they were fooled by the Queen like everyone else, and they are the reason why Korvosa still stands. Neolandus' Story: At the beginning of the meeting, the seneschal Neolandus told a lot of the Queen's story. He mentioned how she was abused by Eodred and how she was fighting leukemia. Then she started visits to the Castle Vaults and an increased level of isolation, so Neolandus confronted her. Ileosa denied that anything extraordinary was happening and later that night, she sent the Red Mantis after Neolandus. Neolandus then mentioned that there was a potent magical relic (a crown) inside the Vaults that was stolen from the Shoanti and kept secret and hidden, so that's why Neolandus was worried about the Queen. He explained that the stolen crown was something powerful and evil that the Shoanti were hiding and protecting, but Eodred got hold of it during the Second Shoanti Invasion. Some mages of the Acadamae, including Togomor, examined it and concluded that it held fiendish, other-worldly powers and that the crown seemed to hold some degree of sentience. Also, the crown was indestructible and could grant powers to the one wearing it. But Ileosa began to frequent those Vaults. How Ileosa knew about the stolen magical crown and its capabilities is a mystery. But apparently to protect herself from the abusive Eodred and to have a salvation from the leukemia, she used the magical crown and that's when things started to change and decline. The Hellknights Involvement: The diabolist from the Church of Asmodeus that was present in the meeting mentioned that Maidrayne of the Hellknights was doing an investigation on the devil invasion, collaborating with the Church of Asmodeus. The last thing she knows about Maidrayne is that she went to the small village of Sirathu to the north, to investigate about rumors of protections against devils coming from Korvosa. She recommended the PCs to head there and find Maidrayne, if they want the help of the Hellknights. The Cinderlands Expedition: One thing agreed during the meeting was that the PCs and Neolandus will go to the Kallow Mounds in the Cinderlands to speak with the shoanti shaman Thousand Bones, to seek more information of the stolen magical crown and perhaps to also get the aid of the Shoanti during the rebellion. Last Tasks In Harse: Before departing Harse to head for Sirathu and the Cinderlands, the PCs drafted a contract with Neolandus for mercenary efforts and coordinated other plans for war efforts. Gromian trained people in Harse. Trinia travelled to other places, like Abken, to recruit more. And the Korvosan refugees started departing to different towns. The Fourth Harrowing: The Varisian ghost Zellara appeared to give them some dire warnings of the Lucky Bastards' future, saying that she saw deaths in their mists of fate. Then she distributed the magical cards among the PCs. The Road to Sirathu: The PCs traveled for a few days towards the village of Sirathu, near Kaer Maga and the Storval Rise. On the way, they encountered a caravan of Grey Maidens and one gelugon escorting carriages with slaves transported from Kaer Maga. The PCs teleported away to avoid encountering them on the road. Trouble in Sirathu: Once they reached Sirathu, the Lucky Bastards learned that Maidrayne was there, but she was in a coma along with the village shaman: a 12-year-old girl named Laurana. They were in a coma because they entered the Dimension of Dreams, from where Laurana obtained her prophecies, to seek more information on the devil invasion. But something in the dreamscapes trapped the two women. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): Why Marz have been working for the noble Eliasia Leroung during all this time? Is there really a powerful devil that escaped Hell and is masterminding the devil invasion of Korvosa? How Ileosa knew about the stolen magical crown and its capabilities? What are the powers of the magical crown? Who really is Togomor and what he is doing? What does Zellara means when she says that she saw deaths in the PCs' fates? Session 37 (03/23/2016): In-Game Date: Kuthona 21 Things Done: Within the Dimension of Dreams, the PCs entered some dreamscapes that took them to the Acadamae two and half centuries ago, and the Acadamae at the present time. In those dreamscapes, the PCs learned more about Lord Volshyenek Ornelos and the relationship between the Acadamae, the devil invasion, and the Crown of Fangs. Highlights: Dead Volshyenek Ornelos : In one of the Acadamae dreamscapes, the PCs found the corpse of Volshyenek Ornelos, with a note written in blood: "Traitor Lorthact. No immortal life for me. A devil in the Acadamae..." Togomor, Toff, and the Crown : After they walked the corridors of the old Acadamae dreamscape, battling some mages with all sorts of magic and stunts, the PCs entered another dreamscape of the present-day Acadamae. Here, they found that the mages Togomor and Toff Ornelos were reunited along with another mage called Fenris. They were discussing the Crown of Fangs, stolen from the Shoanti. And Fenris was blaming Togomor and Toff for any distaster coming from stealing such crown, and refused to partake in any more dealings with it. Here is an extract of the conversation that they were having: Fenris: "Stealing this crown was a big mistake. This will bring the total wrath of the Shoanti." Toff: "Fenris, you forget that was the will of the Korvosan people. This war made Korvosa progress. The sacrifices that our Korvosan people did will ensure generations of progress and total independence from Cheliax". Fenris: "They all acted out of greed, with all the promises that Eodred made. Besides, I refuse to acknowledge that the death of my friend Aeldruss in the Lavapit Expedition was worth it". Toff: "Fenris, stop, now." Fenris: "This crown has tremendous power. I know that you, Togomor, want that power to boost this Acadamae's summoning resources. To summon and control more powerful devils. But I don't want Korvosa to go the same path as Cheliax. I think this crown should be hid, destroyed, or returned." Togomor: "Well, Fenris, remember that is not your decision to make. You are being watched. And the one who decides will be visiting soon". Wrestling the Crown : Aelfrick used Telekinesis to wrestle the crown from the hands of Togomor. Then another combat ensued more magic was hurled from both sides, dealing considerable damage to the PCs, but then Gromian used his force of will to alter the dreamscape and impose obstacles on Togomor. Meanwhile, Tobias was running away with the Crown but Toff paralyzed him. In the end, Aelfrick dispelled the effect and Tobias escaped with the crown. Laurana Rescued : The PCs returned to the nightmarish Korvosa dreamscape with the symbolic crown snatched from the Acadamae dreamscapes. This fragment of dream altered the little coherence that the Korvosa dreamscape remnants had, thus shattering the crystal and freeing Laurana. Revisiting the Bloodsworn Vale : The next dreamscape that the PCs entered was a recreation of the events in the Bloodsworn Vale that decimated the Lucky Bastards, long before the campaign began. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): A new mysterious name appears: who is Lorthact? Why did Togomor seemed conscious inside the dreamscape? What will they find in the Bloodsworn Vale dreamscape and how does it relate to the events of the campaign? Awards: 1800 XP to Gromian, Aelfrick, Tobias, and Marlow

Session 38 (03/30/2016): In-Game Date: Kuthona 21 to Kuthona 23 Things Done: The Lucky Bastards entered a second dreamscape, drawn from their nightmares and memories and taking the shape of the Battle of Blood Revenants in Bloodsworn Vale. There they battled countless of undead until they rescued the representation of Sir Gyrad Tolgrith. This freed up Maidrayne from the Dimension of Dreams and she joined their efforts in battling Korvosa. Then they departed to Kaer Maga, en route to the Cinderlands. Highlights: Missing Sir Gyrad: When they entered Bloodsworn Vale, the belegueared Lucky Bastards of the dream informed that their employer, Sir Gyrad, was missing. They suspected that he was the piece of dreamscape info that was needed to collapse the dreamscape crystal where Maidrayne was trapped. So the PCs went to find Sir Gyrad in the village near Bloodsworn Vale. Bloodsworn Nightmare: Countless of skeletons and zombies kept coming and coming, spawned by the dreamscape itself. The Lucky Bastards had to battle through them, while seeing old members of their team getting slaughtered. But with courage and clever use of magic, they cut through the undead horde, which included shadows too, until they found Sir Gyrad being assaulted by a wraith. The Wraith Mandraivus: A dread wraith was holding Sir Gyrad, constantly draining life from him, and asking there the "stolen relic was". He even threatened to steal Sir Gyrad's soul if he didnt tell what he wanted. But Tobias managed to teleport Sir Gyrad away and then they escaped the nightmare. Maidrayne Free At Last: Once back to the nightmarish Korvosa dreamscape, the crystal that trapped Maidrayne collapsed and she was fred. Then they all returned to Sirathu, where the villagers celebrated that Laurana also returned. The Lucky Bastards and Maidrayne then rested before departing to Kaer Maga. What Maidrayne Knows: The next day, Maidrayne joined the PCs on the way to Kaer Maga. As the day passed, she told the PCs the following: Around 4493, a powerful infernal duke known as Lorthact fled Hell to hide in the mortal realm, as some devils and erinyes were looking to enact revenge on him. He eventually hid in Korvosa, killing and impersonating Lord Volshyenek Ornelos of the Acadamae, until "Volshyenek" "died" but Lorthact kept hiding. He has somehow managed to stay well hidden, for even magic from the Hells cannot find him. Not even Asmodeus himself as far as I know. Yet he has continued to exert influence in the city, particularly in the Acadamae. He seems to be responsible for all the devils that have been appearing. Now, these devils are rogue and it seems they are not ordered or sanctioned by a higher archduke. How Lorthact is summoning these devils is unknown. But I believe that he obtained a powerful relic that helps him. Also, the dark violet energies seem to be part of his scheme for this unauthorized devil invasion. The questions that I still have is: first, why is he doing that? And second, what is that relic and how does it connects with his scheme? She then explained that some hellknights and diabolists from the Church of Asmodeus will go to Cheliax to speak with the high echelons of the Church, to report the discovery of Lorthact. Enter Kaer Maga: Once at the base of the Storval Rise, below Kaer Maga, the PCs paid the Duskwardens to travel the Halflight Path into Kaer Maga. Not much happened except for the unsettling atmosphere of the Halflight Path. And finally, they reached Kaer Maga. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): Who is that wraith that called himself Mandraivus, and why he wanted the stolen relic (the crown)? Awards: 3800 XP to Gromian, Aelfrick, Tobias, and Marlow
Session 39 (04/06/2016): In-Game Date: Kuthona 23 Things Done: Now in Kaer Maga, the Lucky Bastards spent some time buying magical gear and gathering information. They learned more about the Lavapit Mines, where the Crown of Fangs was stolen from the Shoanti, and also learned more of the people who stole it. Finally, they were ambushed by some bounty hunters looking primarily to collect Aelfrick's bounty. Highlights: Maidrayne Departs: After they climbed the Halflight Path and entered Kaer Maga, Maidrayne Vox departed and went to seek Hellknight contacts. Shopping in Kaer Maga: The PCs took their time to buy magical items among Kaer Maga's districts and markets, where they had the chance to see all sorts of oddities: hobgoblin and orc merchants, troll soothsayers, zombie and skeleton servants, and golems patrolling some streets. Fenris' Story: When they were buying stuff, a middle-aged merchant told them about some jewellery made from rubies from the Lavapit Mines. This prompted the PCs to ask more information, and the merchant referred them to a miner named Glin who excavated those gems. The miner Glin in turn told how he belonged to the original Lavapit Mines Expedition, who was headed by Aelfrick's brother Aeldruss and how a mage named Fenris from Korvosa was it in too. Glin told the PCs where to find Fenris. Then the Lucky Bastards had an audience with Fenris. His story was that he belonged to the Lavapit Mines Expedition made to survey the mines. But an orc warband from the Deadwatchers tribe captured the expedition, and while captured, they learned that the orcs wanted to seek the bones in Korvosa of an ancient shoanti shaman who took the Crown of Fangs from Castle Scarwall. And this shaman, so the orcs said, had some power able to defeat the magic of the crown. But several members of the expedition fought the orcs and only Fenris, Aeldruss, and Glin escaped. They went back to Korvosa to report all of this. Fenris stayed in the Acadamae to help Korvosa in the war that followed the expedition (War of the Fiery Sands), but Aeldruss said that he was going to seek more info about those bones. Thanks to the help of some shaonti, Aeldruss discovered that those bones could be deep below Korvosa. So Aeldruss continued his quest, but Fenris never learned of his fate. Years passed and the War of the Fiery Sands (where the shoanti were invaded again) came to a conclusion, with Korvosa having stolen the Crown of Fangs. Fenris, being a mage of the Acadamae, questioned his superiors (Toff and Togomor) about the motives of invading the shoanti. But almost a year later the mages tried to assassinate him. So he fled to Kaer Maga. The Cinderlander Attacks: Turns out that the middle-aged merchant was really the Cinderlander, who is a bounty hunter and guide with quite a reputation in Kaer Maga and the Cinderlands. He recognized Aelfrick from some wanted posters set by the Stolya family, and Bakar Reappears: Bakar was among the henchment of the Cinderlander, recognizing and attacking the PCs. The Lucky Bastards fought back and eventually they captured all of these bounty hunters and decided to sell them into slavery so that they would not bother anymore. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): Who exactly is the Cinderlander and why he was seeking Aelfrick? Awards: 6,400 XP to Gromian, Aelfrick, Tobias, and Marlow And +400 XP bonus to Gromian for coming up with detailed images of his new character look. :) Misc: +1 Conviction (I just loved last session and how everyone played)

Session 40 (04/13/2016): In-Game Date: Kuthona 24 - Kuthona 25 in the afternoon Things Done: The PCs departed Kaer Maga and went to the Kallow Mounds in the Cinderlands. On the way, they rescued a shoanti in danger. Once in the Kallow Mounds, they met other shoanti and participated in a traditional challenge. Highlights: Atonement: On the last night in Kaer Maga, the god Cayden Cailean communicated with his disciple Tobias Steward to let him know that he committed wrongdoing when he sold Bakar and the Cinderlander into slavery. Cayden Cailean is a deity of freedom who precisely is against slavery. Tobias had to atone for this error and had to buy back the two NPCs and set them free. Bakar Joins: In a suprising turn of events, Gromian told a liberated Bakar that he could join the Lucky Bastards as an assitant and squire. Bakar really didn't expect that and after much thinking and discussion, he joined. Now he has to endure Gromian's rigid discipline... but at least he is alive. Terva, the Shoanti in Danger: After a day crossing the rock desert, with canyons and gullies of all shapes, sizes, and colors, the Lucky Bastards came upon an oasis where a shoanti herder of the Sun Clan was being mauled by a bulette. They rescued the man when they clevered used magic to try to drown the bulette. The man, Terva, then spoke a little about the Sun Clan and then joined the PCs to the Kallow Mounds. Welcome to the Skull Clan: The PCs then finally arrived to the Kallow Mounds, where the shaman Thousand Bones and his grandson Gaekhen received them. Many shoanti started to be curious about the PCs, but others didn't want them there. Thousand Bones spoke a bit to the Lucky Bastards about the situation in Korvosa and he also introduced them to Chief One-Life and elder Ash Dancer. But all these introduction were interrupted by trouble from the impetuous Sun Clan members. The Game of Sredna: Krojun, the famed hero of the Sun Clan, arrived to the Kallow Mounds to bury one of their champions. He learned that the Skull Clan was harboring outsiders, and Krojun wanted to know who they were. Thousand Bones intervened claiming that Krojun had no authority to decide who could be their guests. But Krojun demanded that they show up and when he saw Gromian, a half-orc, he invited him to do a Game of Sredna. After a lot of struggle and many turns, where Gromian and Krojun tested their strength and resilience, Gromian ended up winning. Krojun vented off his anger but in the end he complimented somewhat Gromian, showing some respect for the PCs. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): None for now Awards: 1,400 XP to Gromian, Aelfrick, Tobias, and Marlow And +200 XP bonus to everyone for the good decision and RP they did with Bakar. Treasure: They looted the Cinderlander and took: Vindicator: +1 enhanced, human bane, shock, heavy repeating crossbow +2 enhanced chain shirt Gloves of Dexterity +2 Wands of Cure Wounds (6 charges, 2d6+4) 20 screaming bolts 80 pp 800 gp were recovered from the earrings they bought Misc: +1 Conviction to Gromian (already given in session)
Session 41-42 (04/27/2016, 05/04/2016): In-Game Date: 4708, Kuthona 25 (afternoon) to Kuthona 28 Things Done: In these two sessions, the PCs attended a council meeting with the Skull Clan, where they spoke about the tragic past of the Korvosan Invasions against the shoanti and about collaboration to resolve the current Korvosan crisis. Then the Red Mantis ambushed the Skull Clan camp, looking to kill the PCs. Finally, they departed to the Sun Clan camp to try to convince them in joining the war efforts to liberate Korvosa. Highlights: Skull Clan Council Fire: Around a big campfire, Neolandus and the Lucky Bastards had an audience with several Skull Clan members: Thousand Bones, Chief One-Life, and Ash Dancer. The shaonti recriminated Neolandus and Korvosans for the past injustices and wars that Korvosa has waged against the shoanti. But some apologies and acts of peace were made. Next, Thousand Bones spoke about the link among the dragon Kazavon, the Crown of Fangs, Queen Ileosa, and the devil invasion in Korvosa. In a nutshell, Thousand Bones explained how the Crown of Fangs was fashioned from cursed bones of the dragon Kazavon, when he was killed at Castle Scarwall, and this crown in turn was safely kept by the shoanti. But once Korvosa stole it, the crown fell into the wrong hands and was donned by Queen Ileosa, awakening part of Kazavon's spirit and unlocking the powers of the cursed crown, which was used somehow to channel the fiendish energies that are now invading Korvosa. Finally, Thousand Bones made clear the importance of having the Sun Clan on their side, if they wish to march against Korvosa. Neolandus and the Lucky Bastards, from their part, promised to return some lands to the shoanti and build a decent embassy for them in Korvosa. The Legend of Eyes-of-Fire: Another important thing that Thousand Bones mentioned was that a shoanti shaman named Eyes-of-Fire participated in the raid that killed Kazavon in Scarwall. When the remnants of Kazavon were made into objects, Eyes-of-Fire decided to take the crown and hide it in some shoanti ruins. In order to do this, Eyes-of-Fire took a portion of power from the artifact sword Serithial (who was used to kill Kazavon), in order to contain the crown's power and sentience, and perhaps destroy the crown if needed be. Thousand Bones explained that the remnants of Eyes-of-Fire lie below Korvosa, and his spirit might know how to destroy the crown or he might still have the power he took from Serithial. Red Mantis Ambush: Chief One-Life and Thousand Bones departed to attent the burial of some Sun Clan warriors brought by Krojun. Everyone else in the shoanti camp went to sleep. But late at night, many Red Mantis aided by gargoyles flew into the Skull Clan camp. They were tracking the Lucky Bastards and looking to kill them. So an intense combat ensued where the PCs did quite some clever magic tricks that decimated the gargoyles and Red Mantises. The shoanti also fought the enemies and Krojun battled an orc hunter and tracker named Ko-Dar. Then came one of the Red Mantis leaders, a woman named Cinnabar. Once again, clever magic use (and favorable rolls) quickly defeated Cinnabar and the rest of the enemies surrendered or fled. The Skull Clan camp was saved but several shoanti died in the battle. Interrogation of Cinnabar: The Red Mantis lieutenant offered some information before she committed suicide. She and other Red Mantises spoke about the defenses that Korvosa currently has, who commands there, and what were their mission in the Cinderlands. Then the surviving Skull Clan shoanti executed those captured Red Mantises and everyone waited for Thousand Bones to arrive. Towards Flameford: With the Red Mantis ambush twarthed, Thousand Bones thanked the PCs and then told them how to reach Flameford, where the current Sun Clan camp exists. But before they departed, Thousand Bones gave them some magic items as a way to help them more and also gave them the location of Eyes-of-Fire's remnants in the catacombs of Korvosa. They bid farewell and Neolandus decided to hide with the Skull Clan deep in their ancient crypts. The Lucky Bastards rode towards Flameford and in the way encountered Krojun, who raced with them. Once in the outskirts of Flameford, the PCs encountered some hostility from the Sun Clan shoanti. Their Sun Shaman, however, ordered everyone to back down and welcomed the PCs into the guest yurt. There, they exhanged words about their purposes and the Sun Shaman invited them to their council meeting to discuss possible collaboration in the war against Korvosa. But before, they have to pass the Trial of Totems in order to be admitted to the council. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): Who exactly was the dragon Kazavon? Why he was killed? What powers were infused in the crown made from his bones? How the power inside the crown is being used to fuel an invasion of devils in Korvosa? How the crown can be destroyed and the devil invasion stopped? Can the spirit of Eyes-of-Fire help them save Korvosa? Awards: 10,700 XP to Gromian, Aelfrick, Tobias, and Marlow (total for two sessions with intense combat) Treasure: Each of the PCs got the following items, gifted by Thousand Bones: Gromian: Bracelet of Friends: <a href="http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/wondrousItem" rel="nofollow">http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/wondrousItem</a>... Tobias: Rod of Splendor: <a href="http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/rods.htm#spl" rel="nofollow">http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/rods.htm#spl</a>... Aelfrick: Ring of X-Ray Vision: <a href="http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/rings.htm#xR" rel="nofollow">http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/rings.htm#xR</a>... Marlow: corrosive magical ability for his crossbow, thus raising the total value to 32,000
Session 43 (05/11/2016): In-Game Date: Kuthona 28 to Kuthona 31 Things Done: Once in the lands of the Sun Clan, the PCs had to pass the Trial of Totems in order to be admitted to the clan's War Council, where the PCs would get a chance to convince the Sun Clan to unite the clans and join the Resistance in liberating Korvosa. Highlights: The Trial of Totems: Thousand Bones recommended the PCs to carry out a traditional trial of the Sun Clan in which the strength and resiliency of a group of persons is tested out. Those who pass it are considerable very honorable and strong, and thus might gain the admittance to the Sun Clan as guests and honorary members. So, the PCs requested this trial and were taken to a big rock that formed a mesa, where some heavy wooden totems were scattered. The challenge was to stand up those totems in several platforms and hold them in place for three dawns, all without sleeping or eating a lot. The shoanti of the Sun Clan would be observing them to make sure they didn't cheat. The Lucky Bastards did some preparations for the trial: they cast shadow magic to lessen the scorching rays of the sun, and they did a variety of things to carry the totems without error. Needless to say, mighty Gromian was indispensable for this trial. But it was to become much harder. The sun, the weather, and the hours without rest pushed the Lucky Bastards to their limit, standing to hold the totems in place for so much time. Krojun Pays a Visit: On the second day, Krojun decided to visit the PCs in the trial. He taunted them a little bit, but complimented them on how honorable and strong they were. Bulettes Pay a Visit Too: Apparently, Krojun's heavy warhorse attracted a pack of bulettes, for shortly after Krojun left, the monsters started to encircle the PCs while they all held the totems. Yet the PCs solved this problem quite well: they protected themselves and the totems with a force field, while Aelfrick cast some illusions of horses to make the bulettes chase them and go away. Visions of the Aurochs: On the last afternoon, Tobias and Gromian had a vision where they saw themselves as powerful aurochs, charging with a pack of them towards Korvosa. Victory and Celebrations: The last morning of the Trial, the Sun Shaman went to see their success, and found that all totems were still standing and thus all PCs passed the trial (even Bakar, who is Gromian's squire now). The PCs were admitted to the Sun clan camp, where they held a small celebration (Tobias conjured a banquet for everyone, using his magical rod) and then went to rest until the night. Sun Clan War Council: Several points were discussed during this council between the shoanti and the Lucky Bastards. First, the shoanti were conviced to change plans: instead of raiding Korvosa and causing the loss of so many innocent lives on both sides, they were to help the Resistance Army in liberating Korvosa and attain better relations. Second, the shoanti demanded that the crown be destroyed or delivered to the Sun Clan. Third, they also demanded a variety of things: that some green lands below the Storval Rise be returned to the shoanti, that they are given access to some rivers and lakes, that no more persecussion against the shoanti takes place, and that a monument be erected to honor the many shoanti who were slain during the first and second invasions against the shoanti. Finally, they discussed a raid on the orc city of Urglin, because that was necessary for the shoanti to be able to unite and march south. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): None for now Awards: Because the Book 5 of the Adventure Path will not be run, the PCs were given a lot of XP and treasure after this session to bring them up to the power level necessary for Book 6. 16,000 XP were given to Gromian, Aelfrick, Tobias, and Marlow Treasure: 100,000 gp were given to each PC to account for their new level's wealth. This money was justified in game as loot they got when they helped raid the orc city of Urglin, as well as other errands they did for the Resistance. Misc: All Conviction points were replenished to all PCs.
Session 44 (05/25/2016): In-Game Date: Abadius 1 to Pharast 25 Things Done: A downtime of two and half months began, where the Resistance Army did many preparations and many other background events happened. Then the Resistance Army finally marched on Korvosa, lead by the command and strategy of the Lucky Bastards. They breached the walls of East Shore and began liberating that district. Highlights: News from Korvosa: During the downtime that followed the adventures in the Cinderlands, the PCs and the Resistance got several news from Korvosa, supplied by Grau (acting as Blackjack): Martial law and curfews befell upon Korvosa. Slavery was instituted and many slaves were brought too from Kaer Maga and some of the satellite towns. To cope with winter and the new changes in Korvosa, a mechanistic system of fishing, hunting, and grain distribution took place. Ishani and other members of the Temple of Abadar disappeared, probably murdered by Red Mantis because of their involvement in the Blood Veil cure. The rest of them were given the option to step down or collaborate with the new infernal government of Korvosa. Several nobles and authority figures were killed by Red Mantis. They include some members of houses Leroung, Jeggare, and Zenderholm. This intimidated those houses to support of the Queen, out of fear. Grau learned that a small resistance group has been hiding and surviving all this time below the Gray District. He learned this after finding some prisoners who were able to escape the Citadel when it was attacked. The ex-prisoners and some members of the Guard, Cressida included, escaped through ancient secret tunnels below the Citadel. The guards have not surfaced since then and they have been making efforts to smuggle supplies to those tunnels, and also to recruit more rebels and try to establish contact with the outside world. Tara, a cleric from the Church of Asmodeus, speculated as to why Lorthact is causing the invasion of devils in Korvosa. She, however, spoke of a magical blockade that Lorthact has been erecting around Korvosa to make divine intercession harder. Once that blockade is removed by destroying the Fangs of Kazavon, then authorities from the Hells will apprehend Lorthact. Final Downtime Events: Other events happened during this downtime: Trinia came back with news that adventurers and explorers have spotted warbands of orcs from Belkzen marching to the southern parts of Belkzen and preparing to cross the Mindspin Mountains. She suspects those orcs are headed towards Varisia. Other members of the resistance might speculate that these orcs come to aid the Korvosan fiendish regime. Scouts came urgently towards Harse informing that the towns of Veldraine and Palin's Cove were ambushed by forces from Korvosa. Rebels were killed and security was strengthened, making sure those towns comply with Korvosa's demands. The fall of Veldraine and Palin's Cove prompted the resistance to move their base deep within the mines of Balswief. Some final interactions were held between the PCs and some past NPCs, such as Vencarlo, Theandra, and Rello. They spoke of what could be the outcome of the war to liberate Korvosa. A final reunion was held by all representatives of the Resistance. They spoke of the plans once they are inside Korvosa: what districts to liberate first, how to rescue Cressida from under the Gray District, how to find the hidden Serithtial power, and what to do with the Crown. Last Harrowing: Zellara conducted a last Harrowing in private, telling how the cards drawn have been the darkest ones. She believes Korvosa will be liberated, but great sacrifices will be made, as battling the fiendish energies might cost the lives of one or more of them. Marching Forth: The remaining shoanti warbands and hellknights finally arrive to the satellite towns where the Resistance has been gathering, and with this, the war started. All Resistance units marched towards Korvosa and commenced the attack. (At this stage, the game changed to a tactical 'mini-game' of warfare, even with different rules). The War Begins: The first thing that the Resistance Army did was to breach the walls of East Shore, destroying its cannons in the process. Once inside, they vanquished most of Ileosa's forces inside the district: Gray Maidens and a few cultists in the service of Lorthact. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): None for now Awards: 1,450 XP were given to Gromian, Aelfrick, Tobias, and Marlow Misc: The PCs got a new set of 'swashbuckling' cards from Zellara's Harrow Deck: Tobias: Zippit! Zip! Zippy‐Zippahhh Raaaaagghh!!!!!! Aelfrick: Multipass! Outta My Way! Gromian: Butterfingers For the last time, we did not order a giant trampoline! Marlow: Fade to Black Do you wanna live forever?

Session 45 (06/13/2016): In-Game Date: Pharast 25 to Pharast 30 Things Done: The Resistance Army led by the Lucky Bastards mercenaries continued liberating districts of Korvosa, reuniting with old allies and fighting old enemies. Highlights: The War Continues : Once the Lucky Bastards entered the city by breaching the walls of East Shore, they continued leading the Resistance Army in cutting away the forces of Ileosa and the devils of Lorthact: Gray Maidens, red mantis assassins, barbazu squads, imps, some hamatulas, and much more. They advanced with great tactics, skill, and force into the other surrounding districts of Grey District, Midland, and South Shore, encountering old friends and foes along the way. Liberation of Grey District and Reunion with Cressida : The Resistance Army knew that Cressida and some ex-members of the Guard have been holed up below Gray District for 3.5 long and cold months. So they hurried to this place, liberated it, and the Lucky Bastards entered the tunnels below. The first thing they noticed was a force field held by Iomedae's divine magic to protect the rebels hiding beyond. With Iomedae's blessing, the Lucky Bastards passed through and the City Guard ex-members quickly noticed them, standing up in awe and making military salutes and cheers. Further inside the tunnels, they found Verik Vancas, who escaped the Citadel and was helping Cressida. He was scared a bit after seeing the Lucky Bastards, but also was glad and he let them through the door to Cressida's headquarters. The ex Field Marshal was lying down on a hammock, tired, haggard, and with sadness and hopelessness in her face. This all vanished when she saw Tobias, Gromian, Marlow, and Aelfrick. She sprang up and started to cry out of joy and relief, hugging the Lucky Bastards. After some greetings and kind words, they all sat down to discuss everything that has happened and that will happen from now on. Seeking the Ancient Blessing : The next step after the liberation of the Grey District was to find the ancient power that Thousand Bones indicated to be below Korvosa, in the tomb of an ancient shaman called Eyes-of-Fire. With the power, they would be able to destroy the malign energies in the Crown of Fangs. The Lucky Bastards ventured deeper and deeper into the catacombs below Korvosa, where they found it to be haunted by restless spirits who attacked them and who tried to trap Zellara. These spirits were commanded by one of the wraith bodies that Mandraivus used and controlled (apparently the same form that attacked Bloodsworn Vale a long time ago). Mandraivus was also in these catacombs searching for the ancient power in order to finally escape Castle Scarwall permanently. But the Lucky Bastards destroyed this form and were able to summon Eyes-of-Fire, who gave them the power of Serithial: a shining silvery light which was a portion of the magic in the Serithial sword, but now much stronger after Iomedae gained more adepts and powers through the centuries. This could destroy the cursed Crown of Fangs. After finishing business with Eyes-of-Fire, Aelfrick found the ghost of his brother Aeldruss, who was trapped in these catacombs when he also went looking for the power of Eyes-of-Fire. He explained to the Lucky Bastards all his experiences during the Lavapit Mines expedition and his fatal quest in finding a way to destroy the cursed crown. He then told Aelfrick about their father, his inheritance, and about other members of the Stolya family who were falsely claimed such inheritance. Aeldruss bid farewell to his younger brother Aelfrick, not before encouraging him to claim the inheritance and be the best of his family. Bad News from the Front: After they left the catacombs, news came from the army camp. Tara, the cleric of Asmodeus, told them that she had doubts about the Curse being broken by destroying the Fangs of Kazavon (the crown). Lorthact seems to have crafted the Curse in a way to be self-propagating and perhaps independent of anything else. She doesn't know for sure. But suggests that if destroying the crown doesn't work, or if the Curse doesn't disappear when Lorthact is banished, then perhaps they will have only two dire options: mercifully execute all citizens who are still infected or use the ancient Serithtial power to conduct a ritual that can eliminate the Curse. Yet this ritual will require a way to amplify the Serithtial power. Tara knows that lifeforce is the best component to do this and further suggests that, if the ritual is to be carried out, it will require the life essence of one willing persons who is powerful enough, not evil, and have wielded the Serithtial power. Capture of Sabina Merrin : When the Resistance Army attacked the Citadel, Sabina took flight on her young black dragon and came to defend the fortress. The Lucky Bastards counter-attacked and in the middle of the fight, Sabina herself turned against her dragon mount and together they all killed him. Sabina pleaded for mercy and apologized for all the chaos and suffering she has contributed in the name of loyalty to Ileosa. She wanted to set things right, better later than never. The Lucky Bastards spared her life but captured her and said that she will have a trial later. The Resistance Army Pushes Forward : With Midland and the Citadel in their hands, the Lucky Bastards pushed onwards to North Point, Old Korvosa, and finally the Heights. Brienna Soladi and the Gray Maidens : With the capture of the Longacre Building in North Point, the Resistance Army defeats the majority of Gray Maidens and imprison many of them. They also rescued Ishani and the Archbanker Tuttle who were trapped in the Abadar Bank. But the Lucky Bastards found a surprise they didn't expect. Brienna Soladi, the early-teen niece of Grau, was drafted into the cruel Gray Maidens and was there in the Longacre building. Scarred, tortured, and sobbing, she didn't want to encounter the Lucky Bastards in such a sad and unfortunate way. She even asked to them: "Where were you when they came for us?". Tobias Steward assured Brienna that things would get better from now on, while he also contained his own tears, letting a few sobs through. Capture of Palace Arkona : Old Korvosa had become a graveyard ever since the devil forces invaded Korvosa. Most buildings were in ruins, burned down or demolished by mobs. Some citizens moved to other parts of Korvosa and others were lucky enough to escape the city alive. But many citizens who died in the past months were simply resurrected as zombies by the new lords of Old Korvosa: Lady Andaisin and the necromancer Rolth, who slay the crimelord Pilts and captured Glorio Arkona when they overtook Palace Arkona. The rest of the criminals of Old Korvosa bent their knees to the new lords. So the Lucky Bastards entered Palace Arkona after liberating the district, battling their old necromancer foes and capturing them. Then they headed to the Vivified Labyrinth below Palace Arkona to find Glorio. Tobias encountered the sphinx Sivit and cast Break Enchanment on her, liberating her from the Arkonas' curse. She then teleported away to her plane of origin. Finally, the Lucky Bastards found Glorio Arkona, beaten and tortured, in the same chamber where Neolandus was tortured some months ago. They freed Glorio and held him for a trial later. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): What really happened to the lost hero Mandraivus, for him to be trapped inside the haunted Castle Scarwall and wanting to seek a source of power to free himself? After the Lucky Bastards fought him, was he really gone forever? Perhaps going to Castle Scarwall and eliminating or liberating Maindraivus is material for a future campaign. Could there be another reason why Sabina Merrin switched sides at the last moment? Awards: 8,450 XP were given to Gromian, Aelfrick, Tobias, and Marlow

Session 46 (06/20/2016): In-Game Date: Pharast 30 Things Done: The PCs stormed Castle Korvosa after the Resistance Army liberated much of the city. There, they fought the main villains at last: Ileosa and Togomor. Then they thwarted the resurrection of Kazavon (the dragon spirit inside the Crown of Fangs). Finally, Lorthact was cast away from Korvosa by old extra-planar rivals, and his Curse was eliminated, but costing one great sacrifice. Highlights: Storming the Castle: With virtually all city districts liberated and the Resistance Army fighting the remaining devils, the Lucky Bastards entered Castle Korvosa to finish Ileosa's diabolical regime. They battled lots of criminal soldiers, Gray Maidens, and different devils along the hallways, rooms, and levels of the castle. In the lower levels, they found what appeared to be some sort of 'incubation' chambers, where citizens possessed by the eerie violet energies (Lorthact's curse) were brought here to finish their transformation into devils. Mercy for Marcus Endrin: The Lucky Bastards went to the top levels looking for Ileosa, but on the way they found a hideous monster that looked like an amalgam of different creatures. It had six strong legs of skinless muscle, with steel bars, plates, and bolts grafted everywhere. From the torso and upwards, it was humanoid, but had long claws, two malformed bat wings, and two big horns. It reeked of rotten meat and looked around twitching, without actually showing much intelligence or conscience. The monster and the Lucky Bastards lurched forward and began to fight. But then they were surprised, shocked, and horrified when they stared at its face and saw a resemblance with Marcus Endrin, who was dragged to the castle months ago. Precisely, during the combat, the monster recovered some conscience and yelled: "Help me! Lucky Bastards, please! End this suffering. End this nightmare!". Saddened and appalled by this tremendous act of cruelty, the Lucky Bastards delivered some killing blows of mercy to the entity that once was the honorable and esteemed Marcus Endrin. Once dying, the trapped spirit of Marcus took control again and thanked the PCs: "thank you my friends, honorable warriors, role models to follow. Save the city if there is still time. Help Cressida if she still lives. Tell her I enjoyed every second of her friendship". Togomor's Transformation: Still without recovering from the horror done to Marcus, the Lucky Bastards continued to the upper chambers of the Castle. They met the false seneschal Togomor hurrying towards a smaller secondary throne room. But first he turned to face the PCs, pronounced some insults, and then his body began to tremble and expand, parts of his skin rupturing and spilling a lot of blood until the bloated mage's body violently tore apart, revealing a gruesome monster that looked like a giant maggot with three skull-like heads. The monstrous worm then levitated and entered the small throne room. Showdown with Ileosa: Inside the dark secondary throne room, Ileosa and the true form of Togomor, called Sergminatto, commenced a final epic battle with the PCs. Ileosa, fuelled by the malign energies of the Crown of Fangs, was levitating and hurling all manners of spells to the Lucky Bastards. Meanwhile, Sergminatto did the same, raining down destructive elements at them. Ileosa also proved to be immune to many of the powers that the PCs had. The battle was intense, with both sides trading blows. Gromian doing all sort of stunts to incapacitate the enemies, Marlow shooting deadly bolts from behind cover, Aelfrick hexing and obstructing his enemies with magic, and Tobias keeping everyone alive and also giving back blasts of acid. Sometimes when Ileosa was hit, Kazavon's spirit in the Crown resurfaced, making Ileosa's eyes glow red and speak in a guttural and bestial voice, things about "wanting to be free from these devils", "my daughter", and "destroying anyone and levelling any city that stands in the way". Once, for a brief moment, Ileosa's true self emerged and yelled: "Help me! Destroy the crown!". The combat continued with Sermignatto taking the majority of hits. When it was almost dying and lost, Ileosa turned and delivered a killing blow to Sermignatto, telling in her Kazavon persona and voice: "I had enough of you devil! I will escape and I will be free from the grasp of the Hells. Nobody will stand in my freedom. Then I shall seek my long lost imprisoned daughter". The showdown came to an end when the Lucky Bastards made an ingenious plan. Tobias opened a small portal using a special magic item, Aelfrick wrestled the crown from Ileosa using his magic and then threw it inside the small portal, and the crown got teleported near Gromian, who wielded the Serithial power and thus sundered the crown. Kazavon Attempts Resurrection: With the Crown of Fangs sundered, the dragon spirit inside went desperate and berserk, and attempted to resurrect prematurely using what was left of its magic. Inside the small secondary throne room, a dark violet vortex of energies appeared, from which a draconic talon lanced out, and then an immense skeletal wing. The entire room shook and shuddered, and a growing roar filled the air, quickly rising to deafening levels. A storm of harmful magical energies harmed the PCs with each passing second. However, the Lucky Bastards thwarted such resurrection when they used the Serithial power to close the vortex. Ileosa's Redemption: With Kazavon gone, the Lucky Bastards turned their attention to Ileosa. They asked for a reason to keep her alive, and she mentioned that she could help in getting rid of Lorthact's Curse. She negotiated with the PCs and made them swear to spare her life and let her go: no trials, nothing. Ileosa then echoed what the priest Tara said: that the Curse can be eliminated by channelling a positive force and amplifying it with the power of Kazavon fangs (who still lied near the shattered crown). This force could be Serithial's power but a much stronger force was needed, such a lifeforce. But she offered (drawing from her old connection with Kazavon) more details about the ritual that had to be performed. With this final conversation almost ending, the PCs told her to go away and never return to Korvosa, or she would be executed immediately. Ileosa offered some parting words: "I tried, I tried to be a dedicated ruler. I wanted to make Korvosa better, rise it from its decadent days. And I started on that. But I also was sick, frail, and manipulated. And I ended up welcoming a force that should never have existed. Now Korvosa has suffered a lot. The survivors of this tragedy now have a heavy weight on their shoulders: to rebuild the city. But you also have a clean slate to start a better place.". She then teleported away from Korvosa; nobody knows to where. Eiseth vs Lorthact: What the priest Tara said weeks ago became true: after Lorthact's magical blockade was gone due to the destruction of the Crown of Fangs, Asmodeus sent someone against the rogue infernal duke. As the PCs exited Castle Korvosa, they saw a big, shinning red portal opening high above the Acadamae, and from it, many erinyes poured out, led by Eiseth (one of the erinyes queens) and with the company of several cornugons and one pit fiend. All these fiends entered the Acadamae looking for Lorthact, and the Lucky Bastards stealthily followed them. They witnessed Eiseth confronting Lorthact but the infernal duke opened a portal and went to another dimension. Eiseth and some of her erinyes went into the portal too, resuming the ages-old hatred and extraplanar chase between the too. Gromian's Sacrifice: With the major villains of Korvosa gone, the Lucky Bastards still needed to end Lorthact's Curse. Refusing to kill all the infested citizens (who would later transform into devils only to propagate the Curse even more) Tobias Steward decided to sacrifice himself to use his lifeforce and the remaining Serithial power to counterspell the Curse. So Tobias and his Lucky Bastards went to their first Korvosan headquarters (the One Ring Tavern) and prepared a ritual with the help of Tara and Ileosa's instructions. The fragments of the Crown of Fangs (and the fangs themselves) were placed near some magical crystals while Tobias laid down in the center of a circle. The power of Serithial was channeled into that circle. But when Tara was going to deliver the killing blow to Tobias, the loyal lieutenant Gromian pushed Tobias aside and knocked him unconcious, while he offered himself for the sacrifice. With a ritual dagger driven into his chest, Gromian's lifeforce began to combine with the Serithial power and all those energies were amplified into a shinning silvery column of power that burst towards the sky, forming a dome of energies all above and around Korvosa. Soon the dark violet energies of the Curse began to dissipate until they all quickly faded away. When Tobias regained conciousness, he found all the Korvosan crisis and nightmare to be gone, but at the expense of his best friend's life. Gromian was honorably buried around the temple of Iomedae in Korvosa. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): What really happened to Kazavon, the ancient dragon that was trapped inside the Crown of Fangs? Why he kept screaming about being free from the grasp of the Hells? What about that 'daughter' that he mentioned? Was Kazavon completely eliminated when the Lucky Bastards closed the vortex and twarted his resurrection? To what place Ileosa teleported. What would become of her? Lorthact escaped into another dimension but Eiseth followed him. What will be his final fate? Awards: 17,200 XP were given to Gromian, Aelfrick, Tobias, and Marlow
Session 47 (06/22/2016): In-Game Date: Pharast 31 to Neth 3 Things Done: The campaign ended with a good epilogue. Epilogue: Right After the War: Some events happened during the next days after the Resistance Army liberated Korvosa. First, the last pockets of devils or Ileosa-allied government forces were eliminated. Also, the Resistance Army has been coordinating with several Churches to continue supplying help to the civilians: food, medical help, burials, etc. Finally, Mistress Kayltanya was killed when the Resistance Army stormed the Heights, and all remaining Red Mantis fled the city. As for the Lucky Bastards, they have been helping in all of this while still recovering from Gromian's death. Tobias went to their first base in Midland and started repairing it, consecrating it in the process. He also took from Castle Korvosa the contract that the Red Mantis had with Ileosa, and planned for someday to take more revenge on the Red Mantis. High Profile Trials: The Lucky Bastards managed to capture some notorious enemies of Korvosa and several trials were held for them. Hookshanks, the ex-henchman of Gaedren who was still causing lots of trouble, was sentenced to prison for life. The necromancer Rolth and her psychotic, serial-killer lover Jolistina were hanged in public and their corpses prepared to prevent resurrection. Lady Andaisin of the cult of Urgathoa was executed in the Church of Pharasma: to the expectations of everyone, Urgathoa did not resurrect her even when Andaisin mockingly assured that her goddess would do so. The right-hand of Ileosa, Sabina Merrin, was swiftly executed as was Lord Glorio Arkona, his decapitated head reverting to its true form of a tiger rakshasa (to the shock and surprise of everyone). Hail Queen Cressida: Another issue that the Resistance Army has been solving is the restoration of a good Korvosan government. They would like to crown a monarch fast so that there is no time for new wars to develop or for neighbor nations to invade Korvosa. Since the Arabasti line didn't leave a heir nor a regent (and many nobles, arbiters, and magistrates proved to be corrupt and sided with Ileosa), several other people were nominated. They were: Neolandus (although he insisted not to be a candidate), Cressida Kroft, Magistrate of Regulations Lolia Perenne, Lady Eliasia Leroung, and Archbanker Darb Tuttle (although he was also reluctant due to his duties to Abadar). Voting was carried out among them and members of different Churches and surviving noble houses. Tobias Steward of the Lucky Bastards also cast a vote. In the end, the voting greatly favored Cressida Kroft as the new monarch of Korvosa, thanks to her great dedication to the people of Korvosa, her virtuous and fair judgments, and her having endured and survived the whole Korvosan Crisis. The actual crowning ceremony would take some time to be done, but with selection of Cressida as queen and the end of the Crisis, the contract between Korvosa and the Lucky Bastards was fulfilled. Founding of Luckhaven: The major reward that the Lucky Bastards negotiated with seneschal Neolandus before the war was the granting of some lands to the north of Korvosa where the Lucky Bastards could establish a new town. The awarded area was big enough to form a town in the fork of the Yondabakari river that leads to Abken, Janderhoff, and Sirathu. However, other things were stipulated. First, the new town of Luckhaven must serve as a trading ground for Korvosans, Varisians, and Shoanti, and as an occasional place of political reunion. Also, Luckhaven won't be entirely independent: while they can make a lot of laws regarding taxes, regulations, and all, for military purposes, it's still part of Korvosa, meaning that they must help Korvosa in conflicts and viceversa. The major of Luckhaven must be present in important reunions in Korvosa. Tobias advocated for a nobility title for the head of Luckhaven. So for the next two months, the Lucky Bastards surveyed it, hired a lot of workers to build the town, and made trade agreements with other towns and villages. Stolya Family Businesses: Aelfrick Stolya went to recover his inheritance, thanks to all the information given by the ghost of his older brother, Aeldruss. He knew that an aunt, called Lady Raina Stolya, faked the will that Aelfrick's father left and put Raina as the inheritor of the Stolya estate (with Aeldruss dead and Aelfrick studying away, she thought that nobody would know). Aelfrick, with the information from his brother, went to the University of Korvosa looking for a copy of the true will, which was hidden here by Aelfrick's father. With the true will, Aelfrick travelled all the way to Cheliax to unmask Lady Raina and also threatened her if she would dare to continue being an impostor. With the inheritance issue resolved, Aelfrick went back to Korvosa to restore the abandoned Stolya manor in South Shore. One day, when he was cleaning some unlooted decorations in a room, he found a secret pathway that lead to a hidden library. There, Aelfrick's father compiled a vast array of books that he found during his travels as part of the Pathfinder Society. They treated a variety of cultural topics but one in particular, title Codex Stolya, contained information on planets and realms beyond Golarion and how to theoretically travel to them. Eight Months After the War: These were the fates of some characters during the next eight months after the Resistance Army liberated Korvosa and the Crisis ended: The shoanti were granted several things for their cooperation in the war. An enclave and embassy for them was built in the area of Old Korvosa. They were also granted a lot of land near the Storval Rise. Finally, Korvosa granted to some Skull Clan shamans the privilege to visit ancient shoanti burial grounds below Korvosa. Vencarlo stayed as a combat trainer, sometimes rendering services to Lucky Bastards recruits. Grau continued the persona of Blackjack, and inspired by Tobias' faith and by the loss of his nephew Charlo (and her niece Brienna's suffering), he worked more for the safety of children in Korvosa. Neolandus stayed as an advisor for the new Queen Cressida, and worked to make sure that the role of monarch is more monitored than before. Also changed a lot of laws. Maidrayne Vox and Tara: They both stayed in Korvosa for a long time to monitor any devil recurrence. Laori: Before returning to Nidal, Laori left a letter for the PCs, giving thanks for all the help they did in recovering Salvator, but also warning that they got in the way of her superiors, the Brotherhood of Bones, by destroying the Crown. Salvator: Laori rescued him and sent him away to Nidal, for initiation in the Brotherhood of Bones. Bakar: became a caravan master between Luckhaven and Korvosa. The Lucky Bastards: They continued building their new town of Luckhaven as another satellite town of Korvosa. Marlow kept working to find more recruits for the Lucky Bastards. Meanwhile, Tobias acted as an ambassador, visiting Kaer Maga and the Cinderlands to establish more agreements among all towns of the region. Aelfrick continued his studies and the reconstruction of his manor in Korvosa. Marz kept working for his Lady Eliasia Leroung. And a statue of Gromian was built in Korvosa, giving homage to the honorable man that sacrificed his life for his fellow citizens, who now continues to fight as a soldier in Iomedae's forces and realm. The End: The campaign ended with a celebration for the inauguration of Theandra's new tavern and restaurant in Luckhaven, in honor of all the children that suffered and perished in Korvosa. Many old friends of the Lucky Bastards came to visit, including Charlo, Brienna, Grau Soladi, Vencarlo, Tibor Steward, Deyanira Mirukova, Ruan Mirukova, Trinia, Laurana, Westby, and even Kiki, who escaped Korvosa during the devil onslaught thanks to Majenko and her magic. Even Cayden Cailean showed to the party, disguised as the middle-aged man with black hair that Tobias saw in a vision. That same night, when Tobias was retiring to his house, the fortunetelling ghost Zellara appeared to ask him to safe-keep the usual-looking ring with the 'Emmah' engraving (which they found at the beginning of the campaign), as it seems to hold a mysterious significance and magic that Zellara thinks could be related to extraplanar things. She will be investigating more of this ring. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): 1. Will the Red Mantis or Lorthact's devils return to Korvosa someday? 2. What was that of Laori Vaus returning to Nidal with Salvator? What about their superiors, the so-called Brotherhood of Bones? What did they want with Korvosa, with the Crown of Fangs, or with Kazavon? How the Lucky Bastards interrupted their plans and what repercussions will this have? 3. What is the Codex Stolya that Aelfrick found? What exact information does it contains and what it all means? 4. At the beginning of the campaign, the Lucky Bastards found an usual-looking ring in Gaedren's fishery, which has the following thing engraved “For Emmah—the light in my nights”. Zellara thinks that this has an unknown but seemingly special importance and power. What is it? Awards: Misc: Lands for the Lucky Bastards to build Luckhaven: The government of Korvosa, as a reward for saving the city, offered Tobias Steward and his most-trusted Lucky Bastards some portions of lands near the Yondabakari river, to build another satellite town called Luckhaven, which would serve as a trading center for all towns in the area including Kaer Maga and the Cinderlands. Stolya Manor for Aelfrick: With proof of his right to inherit the Stolya Estate, Aelfrick Stolya is now the owner of a manor in South Shore, which he has begun to repair after more than 2 years of neglect.
