Step back in time and immerse yourself in the tense and tumultuous 1930's. A mysterious and intrigue-filled world where unlikely heroes battle valiantly to stop evil organizations from achieving their dastardly goals. Where world powers and secret societies meddle with strange and terrible powers as they plot to overthrow civilizations and vie for control of what may be the most important discovery in all of human history: the Hollow Earth, a savage land filled with dinosaurs, lost civilizations, ferocious savages, and wonders beyond measure! This will be a one-shot pulp action adventure scenario using the Hollow Earth Expedition roleplaying game. (If there's enough interest, I may keep the game listing active and do a few more one-shot adventures here and there.) No experience needed, players new to Hollow Earth are more than welcome. There will be plenty of pre-gens available for play. The game is very intuitive, with an emphasis on story-telling and cinematic action. This session will mainly be played out in the theater-of-the-mind. Game is slated to start at 8pm EST (UTC-5) and will run for approx 4 hours. We could always move it up or push it back an hour if we have to. Let's see if we can wrangle up at least 3 players and decide then. (Voice only/Roll20) Pulp action fans seeking high-stakes adventure should check us out here: https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/31576/hollow-earth-adventures

Any questions? Feel free to post 'em. Others might be able to chime in and answer them faster than I can reply to a PM and someone else may have the same question you do regarding the game or system. But to answer some questions: Hollow Earth Expedition uses the Ubiquity system. Basically, a player rolls a certain number of dice (normally d6 but not necessary), and counts the number of successes (even numbers rolled) to determine effect. It is a skill based rather than class based system. All characters have six stats/attributes which are equivalent to those in D&D, a full skill list to choose from plus special talents (advantages, feats, extras) as well. Some campaigns are based in the Hollow Earth which is very similar to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's the Lost World (or Marvel Comics Savage Lands), some campaigns are based on the surface world which is filled with secret societies (Nazi's, Thule, Illuminati, etc) with all their subterfuge and plots for world dominance. Campaigns can vary, but weird science and the paranormal are prevalent- it's very much like the Secret World MMO, but set in the 30's. The session's I'm looking to run are like sample platters; a sprig of Indiana Jones, a dash of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, a sprinkle of The Shadow, a pinch of Jurassic Park, and a smidge of Mike Mignola's BPRD.... sorta.
Will this have a chance of possibly becoming a campaign? I have been seeking a HEX campaign for a long time. I have experience with the system, having played in a campaign a long time back, and I own the books.
Just a one-shot for now. Maybe another before Christmas. I don't have enough time for a regular campaign right now. I only got sucked into running the one-shot because a few folks were talking about the game and I couldn't help myself.
We've got four playing with room for one more. Game is Saturday at 8pm EST, and should be about four hours long.
I would like to play, although I don't know anything about the game, I think I could be a good hedge mage or mad scientist.
