[LFP][Pathfinder] LF players for urban homebrew PF game tue/wed evening GMT+1

Hey guys, I'm looking for a couple of players to join my pathfinder game. The game will be starting at level 1 and the game will set within a huge city.  Date will be either Tuesday or Wednesday evening, probably starting around 6-8pm Central European Time (GMT+1) and will last for around ~4 hours.  The Setting:  The game sets place in the city of Brightstar. A huge metropolis. Rather modern compared to your average fantasy setting. [aka a bit of steampunk and lots of firearms around] An autonomous city state within the human kingdom. Though the citizens of Brightstar are a mix of all the races. Think any large fantasy city and then multiply this by lets say fifteen. The city is separated into three parts. The upper, middle and lower ring. They are basically what you'd expect. Nobles and rich people in the upper. Merchants and middle class in the middle one. And the scum, lowlifes and working class in the lower tier. Obviously you will belong to the latter. The lower ring is divided into seven districts, each controlled by one large gang each, coexisting with each other under the truce that none really is strong enough to overthrow any of the others.  You will start the game, down on your luck, taking whatever job you can get to get by.  Character creation rules : level 1 20 point buy in 2 traits  (almost) all pazio classes ( maybe even 3pp on a case by case basis) Don't try to break the game with overly powerful or cheesy builds but rather focus on making it a cool and interesting character. About the game: The game will have an overarching story, involving and challenging the players to morally challenging decisions with lasting consequences . Still for the most part the game will still be very open-world-esque. The party can obtain a hub/base from where they will be able to follow the main quest, totally ignore the main quest, do other missions, randomly adventure through the city or basically do whatever they want. The game will mostly be a 50/50 mix of roleplaying and combat. Expect the combat to be challenging but fair. [Stupid actions can have fatal consequences] What I'm looking for: Players who love role playing and immersing into their characters and the story around them.  You don't need to be a pathfinder / role-play veteran but I'd appreciate a decent understanding of the rules and game-mechanics.  Be sure that the time and timezone fits and that you reliably can attend the session.  I'm looking for 4-5 players depending on the interest. If you have any further questions feel free to ask here or via pm. At this point im looking for a short description of yourself and your gaming experience and what kind of character you have in mind. cheers, Night

Hello, My name is Jason.  I am an author and fledgling streamer.  I've been playing tabletop(Pathfinder mostly, some DnD 4&5e) for years now after my girlfriend introduced me to it.  I love creating interesting characters and RPing them.  I'm a little short on time atm to explain character concepts but I'd like to play a monk if that would be alright. Update: As I said above, I'd like to play a Monk.  His/her backstory will depend on what most I learn about the city, but concept wise, they will be a more charismatic individual.  "Worldly" is a good way to describe them.  Currently thinking Catfolk if they are allowed.  I look forward to building this character into your world if selected.  As a side note, however, The earliest I could start is 8pm CET.  Hopefully that is an option.  I'm GMT-8.
Hey there. Name's david, i'm a 22yo dutchman who spends way too much time on this site. Steampunk is something that always draws me for some reason, and for a while now i've wanted to see what a Pathfinder game would be like when making anywhere from more to full use of it's tech and firearms rules. A Big City setting is something that also seems quite intriguing to play. First i will get the technical stuff out of the way, which is me not being able to play on wednesdays (another campaign i play in runs on that day, though there is a slim possbility it could be rescheduled), and that i would very highly prefer starting at 7pm CET or before, with regards to people in my house needing their sleep. 8pm for four hours could be doable, but it will mean that sometimes i won't finish a session or i'll be really quiet/type for the last 20-30 minutes. Now as for telling you about me. I've been playing RPGs all my life, but never had the friends for tabletop gaming. A little over half a year ago i discovered itmejp's rollplay, and they got me into the idea of roleplaying online. Eventually i realized that it was quite simple to look for games, and started playing myself. Right now, i spend a whole lot of my free time on roleplaying games, following a bunch of series every week, and having been in multiple campaigns almost throughout the entirety of my "stay" here on roll20. Mostly it's been Pathfinder, but i've had experience with shadowrun 5th edition, stars without number, apocapyse world, and a bunch of other systems. Out of all those things, Pathfinder has become my favorite, mostly because the amazing wealth of options it provides for building a character, and conversely the fact that any concept i can think of is something that is very likely to be a viable thing in pathfinder, in addition to the fact that almost every single class and race has a lot of flavour and lore associated with it and encourages me to roleplay. I thorougly enjoy the options that Pathfinder gives me, and because of that i have no problem at all being a player that "fills" a role that is simply needed for the party to function (in my other party right now, i'm the 'face'). Most of the time, i also don't have any one set "character concept" that i come into a campaign with. While i am the kind of person to have a folder with loosely defined character concepts more-or-less ready to go, i'm not all that interested in typing out an entire backstory right now. Everything i will come up with WILL change to fit within your world, and rest assured that if i enter this campaign, i will spend hours creating a backstory that feels real to me - because i'm doing that for myself anyway, since it's my favorite part of the game in general. What I do most of the time, GM willing, is i ask a lot of questions. About the party, their classes, backgrounds and stories, the world, the setting of the campaign, and the kinds of thing we will be expected to be doing. It's after that i really start looking seriously at which character concept i might grab, or if i want to come up with something new entirely, and this is when i "really" start making a character beyond a basic concept. That said, of course I can try to give you an idea of what kind of a player i am as best i can. General observations i can make about myself: I tend to play people with at least some kind of high mental stat. Because of that, I usually end up as some kind of spellcaster, spellblade or battlemage; it's safe to say i really enjoy having magical and/or supernatural powers and roleplaying them out. I find it hard to justify not having at least a decent intelligence, i really like my skill points and on top of that, i find it hard to roleplay a person that's supposed to be significantly more stupid than me. I generally tend towards Dexterity based characters stylistically, but i find myself designing more and more characters with Strength as it can be hard to fit dex-to-damage into a build in Pathfinder(especially with the weird errata to make it even worse). The stats i would say i most enjoy roleplaying being high are WIS and INT, but i also find enjoyment in playing a face who can talk circles around people, as that's not generally something i'm capable of in real life. What i don't really like a lot are fully martial characters, classes with a moral code (though i still play clerics and paladins regardless, as i think the whole idea of them is awesome) and classes where i feel like i don't have many options, whether in combat, out of combat or both. While i am mechanics-focused and talk about stats a lot in this post, i also go a lot for the rule of cool, what makes sense, and don't minmax characters into oblivion. I won't purposefully create a "cheese" build, i dislike multiclasses that don't make sense and i want my character to feel like a real person, not a sword attached to a player.  I would classify myself as an Optimizer, but not a Min-Maxer. That is to say, my base of the character concept, the stats he gets, the weapons and spells he uses and the class he is, will all be decided by the rule of cool. But within those parameters, i will still try to do my best to play effectively, take the most efficient feats when i'm not taking them for flavour, etc. If you'd be interested in having me, i'd very much like to text chat (or speak , if you prefer, but i don't really prefer that today as i'm feeling like shit right now) over skype about the party and the campaign. In the interest of not having contact info out in the open, you can send me your skype adress in a PM or send me a PM/reply here asking for mine.
Hello There! Name's Denis, but friends usually call me Bear. I'm 17, though before that scares you away, you should know that I am not like most RP-ers in my age. I have a tendency to play mostly roleplay-based characters, as in non min-maxed, and I tend to go for weirder builds, like an orc skald, for example.  A little about me: I've been playing P&PRPGs for about 2 years now, and pathfinder turned out to be the one I've played the most. I have been both a player, and am currently DMing my own campaign, so things like knowing the rules and such, you can expect me to have those things checked. I am available on Tuesdays, and the game I run is usually on wednesdays, but I don't think the players would have any issues re-scheduling. Preferably, I would like to start at 6PM CET, as that leaves me fully available and concentrated. Later than that might result in me being less active than I'd like to be. What I plan to play: I have thought about this, and to be completely honest, I am not sure yet. I would have to talk to the rest of the party first, see what they plan on playing, but I think no matter what, I will either stick to arcane magic (Wizard, mainly) or try out my character that I haven't had a chance to play yet (Ursine Brawler). So yeah! I hope that was enough about me, if you think I'm fit for this campaign, or have any more questions, contact me either via PM on here, or shoot a request at me on skype. Well, I am totally being peer pressured to throw my name into the hat by the two before me(jk), but I'd be down to join in this. I have yet to really play in a setting like that, so it would be cool to experience that. So about me, I am 25, and work nights. It happens to work out just right that I'd get home about 30-60 mins before the earliest starting time you listed. For clarification I am on the west coast in the US (GMT -7/8 I believe?). I too would prefer to start at 6PM CET, as that is the same starting time as the campaign on Wednesday I am in. That said, if it had to be later start, I could do that too, since I would be home already. (and if you couldn't gather, Wednesday wouldn't work for me, Tuesday would be best.) My gaming experience, is mixed. I have been playing in a couple pathfinder campaigns for the last few months, and before that I had a few start ups, that kind of fell flat sooner then later. I'd say I have a decently good grasp of the core rules needed for RP/combat, though I tend to ask if I can do x and y on my turn to make sure that it works for the DM as well. I also have a lot of non table top roleplaying experience both with some sort of stat system and not. (I'd say like easily 5+ years) I would say I am like David, in that I try to be efficient, while still sticking to the character I have in mind. Min maxing is generally boring in my opinion. As far as what kind of character I want to play, I am not entirely sure yet. Given the fact that Guns are prominent, I wouldn't mind trying a gunslinger finally. I have had fun playing a Rogue, and wouldn't mind trying either a spell caster of sorts, or a more martial class like fighter. What would ultimately turn my hand is what the party would need, or want. There are plenty of classes I haven't gotten to try or would have fun with playing again, haha. Either way, feel free to shoot me a PM on here, I'll try to keep my eye on my PMs, since I usually don't log in more then to play on wednesdays normally. And if you decide against me, then best of luck finding peoples for your campaign, sounds interesting.
Hello there. As may not come as a surprise - given the place you've found this post - I would like to apply to join your game. Of course, given the state of the competition, this is a somewhat tougher task than expected, but I suppose that is all good. After all, it's no fun if there isn't a proper challenge. So. Hello. The name's Melanie, and I'm a 20 years old Dane. I enjoy candlelit rituals, long walks through dilapidated industrial zones, and giving the GM good ideas that result in bad things happening to my characters. I've been playing roleplaying games for the last six-to-seven-ish years (and no, I do not know what possessed the GM to let a 14 years old play, though I'm thankful that he got me started on this hobby), starting out in D&D 3.5 and then taking a long break from d20-based systems before eventually returning. It turns out, you see, that there's a benefit to systems that other people actually play , and moreover, I'd promised my girlfriend that I'd run a campaign, which sorta necessitated learning the system. Since then, I've been hooked on that; not to the exclusion of other systems (I am still, at heart, a GURPS fangirl, and I'd kill (or at least maim) for a chance to play Ars Magica again), but to a great enough degree that I don't mind  the dearth of alternatives overly much. (...sorry about all those parenthetical sentences. They got out of hand. I acknowledge that I have a problem.) As for character, I'd like to play a good old-fashioned clever thinker, by which I mean I'd like to be a psychic alien with a pointy blade. More specifically, I've been itching to try out the new Psychic Detective archetype for the Investigator class, and I thought that a Lashunta would have some interesting interaction therewith. I'm thinking that her father, for whatever reason, decided to flee his matriarchal home and escape to not!Golarion with his infant daughter, to raise her in the great city of Brightstar. She grew up in a presumably none-too-affluent household (her father being a visible outsider and likely not having a lot of marketable skills), but very early in her life found herself in possession of certain magical gifts. She'd've used those, along with her natural cleverness, to bring food on the table: With all sorts of ploys, she'd distract shopkeepers to filch their wares, and when she occasionally did get caught, she'd find that she suddenly knew just what to tell the constable in order to get him to let her go. By the start of the campaign, she'd probably be a young adult and have left her home with little but her wits to carry her through life. She'll have made a few mistakes and paid for them dearly (operating on gang territory, perhaps?), and now is the time to decide what her fate will be: Will she stay in the gutter, or will she rise above her station? I will be able to attend sessions regardless of whether they are Tuesdays or Wednesdays, though I have a slight  preference for the latter. If you have further questions, if there's something that needs clarification, or you feel like contacting me for some other reason, I will be checking my PMs, but I can also be contacted on Skype as 'Idiosyncrat', where I am online most of the time.
Heyo, David linked this thread and I am also interested in joining this game. My name is Darius 23 years old and live in the Netherlands. So if I would join I would prefer Tuesday at 6pm. My gaming experience is short considering I started playing in April and have been only playing in one campaign. I have GM'ed a one shot module (master of the fallen fortress) and also attempted to join an other campaign but it didn't go through because the GM was no show I haven't really played that many characters yet to find a definite preference but so far with creating a back-up characters I my preferences are to play something different than what I played before. For the campaign I thought about playing a character who's family was from the upper part of the city but got booted out. Be it for legitimate or illegitimate reasons or maybe something else I don't know yet. If would prefer to exchange skype names via PM
Alright, looks good so far just to clarify:  Still looking for more people.  This wont be first come first serve but rather whoever fits the group the best so feel free to still apply :)

Alright cool. Posting interest because I'm looking for a game in this timezone (my profile says GMT +8 but I just moved to UK so its more or less a similar time as you) I play a lot of Pathfinder, normally rogues so I may fall back on that. That said I'm thinking of trying a bruiser in an urban campaign so most likely I will try a barbarian or brawler (flavor depends on what the party needs though) That said my class schedule is a bit weird (sometimes classes end after 6 but normally its before that) If that rare occasion may happen I'll give a heads up at least a week in advance.

Hey Night, sounds intriguing and I'd be free if the game is on Tuesdays. I'm 36M from London, cut my teeth on AD&D in the 90s, took a long hiatus then recently returned to 5e.  While I enjoy the streamlined rule-set, I've been fascinated by the variety and customisability of Pathfinder and itching for a game.  I've read the Core Book and am reasonably well acquainted with the rules, but would very much be a newbie in their practical application.  As for myself, I prefer roleplay to rollplay, enjoy creating memorable, three-dimensional characters and getting involved in an immersive story. I'd like to play a Half-Orc Scarred Witch Doctor... * * * * * * * * * * Cresting six feet, with weathered grey skin, lean limbs and a crooked smile that separates two misshapen tusks is Kraoz Haram. Hunched in a dark corner, he deftly works a block of wood, eyes glinting, focus absolute. As his knife slides this way and that a form takes shape, a maiden at a waterfall. He doesn't register the flickering rays of morning light wafting in through the high barred windows, the warmth that illuminates a face streaked with jagged black scars or the figure watching intently from the doorway. The sunshine caresses the nape of his neck, the bare tops of his shoulders and spills down his back, a hideous patchwork of bruises, blood and scars that run impossibly deep, coalescing in rivulets of coarse black keloid. And as the light trickles further, revealing a squalid basement room littered with carvings, drawings and utensils but few furnishings, a massive oak mask can be seen atop a counter, fiery red eye sockets and a grotesquely impassive glare. The makeshift studio that has been his home for barely four months sits nestled in the seediest district of the lower tier of Brightstar. Though it appears well worn and the inhabitant at peace in his surroundings, his story began far further afield, in the heartland of the Grun'tyk tribe. Born of forced union between an Orc chieftain and his human concubine, he spent his formative years paraded as a prize, something peculiar yet fascinating. The lavish attention did much to take his mind from the nightly abuse he suffered at the hands of his father and the whispered insults of his peers. Ill-suited to the physical disciplines - to his father's eternal disgust - he was apprenticed to the shaman, Yangur. The beatings took on a more ritualistic nature as he daily yearned to talk to the spirits, yet talk as he may, they never talked back. Branded a useless thing he was sold to the nomadic Errethio for a pittance, and there, amidst the devout disciples of masochism, he learnt the true meaning of pain, even came to long for the sensation of spike and leather on flesh, relishing it as a silent meditation. With every lash of the flail, a nugget of inspiration would appear before him, fleeting, evanescent, and after several hours of this, something more fully formed would be flitting through his mind. Feverishly, he would paint and sketch on the floor with his blood, finding ecstasy and spiritual solace. Finally, after one such desperate outpouring, in a fit of unnatural rage, he tore the throat of a captor out with his teeth and, plunging into the waters of the nearby swamp, swam to salvation guided by a blind yet insistent instinct and the familiar voice that always echoed through his mind. Years later, he came to understand this entity within, grasp at the fundamentals of the magical weave and carve a mask that was as though a part of him, utterly inalienable, masking his hideous visage with one even more repugnant. Through the pleasure of the pain he found his arcane insights and his artistic muse, whispering its beauty into the objects that he fashioned and the blood-red paintings that adorn his home.
I'm on my mobile  so I cant type a whole lot atm. I have been playing pathfinder for 2 years now solely on roll20. I am big into rp. I favor rp encounters more than combat. It selected I would love to bring in a halfling rogue. Nothing special. Maybe a knife master. I'm free tonight and tomorrow.  Ty
