Last Session

Can everyone post a description of their favorite part from today's session? Maybe even expand on some details, elaborating more about certain events than you had time for in-game. Thank you.
Peeking through a door and coming face-to-face with a zombified beholder probably does it for me.
I'd have to go with being able to make a loud ass dwarf in heavy armor as quiet as a mouse. Bonus points for DM Rob talking to Tarnach through Einur lol.

I liked it when Orryn went to put his hand into the portal and Vetari stopped him

I enjoyed roleplaying the entire swamp area blind as Belanor. A particular amusing moment was when Belanor was messing around with Darrak's face believing he was Orryn. I am mildly disappointed that Belanor was blind for a more combat oriented session. I'm interested to see how blind Belanor would do things in a more social situation. This does not mean I want Belanor to be blind again :)

Lol
Gif game on point Rob
What were some of your highlights from last session? Please let me know as this helps me mold the game to your preferences.  My favorite moments were the quasits turning into a bat and a centipede, Vetari blasting Baxius out of the sky (I should have counterspelled it, but that was my first time running a wizard, despite all the time I spent on Baxius!!!) and also that the damn snake from the serpent staff killed a mindflayer. I mean really?!!  I know it was pretty much 90% combat last session, but of course that's what happens when you're in a boss's tower. Apologies again for hopping off so suddenly last minute, my friend arrived early.  So close to level 7 and no one died. I totally thought Marit was going to die, and perhaps Tarnach, but somehow you all managed to survive yet again.  Looking forward to what comes next?! A lot of things have come full circle now...
Well I gotta admit that I'm quite pleased that Tarnach went full roach and stayed alive, lol, though we're not out of the fire yet.  I thing my favorite part was hearing Vetari say that he wasn't done. I just thought it was such a wizard thing to say. They've always got something else they can add on.
So Rob, about last session? I was wondering if I could buy a robe of useful items from mage bro? I figure it fits perfectly with my image of Tarnach having something for every occasion.

My favorite part about last session... When the yuan-ti fisherman approached Darrak while you were all roping down the stone wall on the East of Efe.  The Yuan-ti asks something in Abyssal, Darrak swings his battle ax and clean chops off the poor fisherman's head in one clean swoop.  Then picks up his net and fish.  Either that, or when the poor lady was smushed into the surface rock despite Belanor's valiant efforts.  Haha, my favorite parts are both related to an innocent dying :'X

Yes it is, and yes I do. I have a little over 700 gp. I'll go into chat in a bit after I shower and eat so I can do the rolls for how many patches and what kinds they are, per the DMG.
Well, Darrak doesn't speak the language so he opted for a preemptive strike instead. If he would have known how to say, "SILENCE!! I KILL YOU!!!" in Abyssal, then he may have tried a different approach. ;)
In a completely self serving sense, I loved getting to one up belanor by dint of catching the falling woman, then simply teleporting down. Tarnach don't care about no physix. And of course, I'm sooooooooooooooo proud that we were all able to keep Marit alive long enough for me to send him off properly.
My favorite part was the anticipation that Darrak would be eaten because of his impertinence. For level seven, my sneak attack die increases to 4d6 and I get the Evasion  feature that reduces damage against DEX Save effects. Finally, I get more spell slots.
My favourite moment was when Belanor catches the falling woman, lands with her in his arms....Then she turns into a giant heap of red flesh and covering Belanor in pure blood.
I'd still love to talk to you about the robe of useful items Rob, if you get a chance. Is there a time whenever you're gonna be working on the campaign that I can jump in for a quick chat?

Darrak would like to know why his winged mount was showing such insolence and not catering to his every whim? >:)
I just wanted to be sure that you were aware of the situation. I understand how it works and everything, and I did the rolls to determine how many extra patches there were(9), as well as the subject of those patches. The rolls can be seen in chat. The patches that I rolled for are: 1 iron door(up to ten feet wide and 10 feet high, barred on one side of my choice), which I can place in an opening I can reach. It conforms to fit the opening, attaching and hinging itself. 1 portable ram. 2 silver coffers worth 500 gp 1 bag of 100 gp 2 wooden ladders(24 feet long) 1 riding horse with saddle bags( monster manual stat block) 1 rowboat (12 feet long) Those are the results of the rolls. I just wanted to make sure that you were okay with everything. If you were, then I wanted to immediately use all three of the patches to cash in 1100 gp(like cashing a lotto scratcher immediately at the gas station lol). With the funds, I wanted to purchase a bag of holding for the party, as well as start up a donation fund for Vetari and Darrak, splitting the remaining proceeds(600 gp) 400/200 respectively, seeing as how a +1 to AC doesn't hold as much sway as the varied uses Vetari gets from his spells. So to sum up, assuming you clear the rolls and are ok with them, I would like to: buy bag of holding for our miscellaneous gear, start a fund for Vetari's spellcasting costs, and start a fund so we can get plate armor for Darrak.
Approved! I love it. Nice work. You spent 500 and made a 600 profit -- a real D&D business man over here.  By the way, this is "downtime" that we are in in-game. So any other "downtime" activities any of you want to do, such as getting drunk with soldiers and hookers, let me know and we can resolve at start of next game. Also everyone -- please choose images for the magic items you selected, either right out of the DM's guide or elsewhere online and post the image here so that I can drop it into the game at start on Sunday.
Good stuff. You know what though? Since you mention downtime activities, during our month of downtime that we have on khier, I want to do Kickstart a big guys night out to celebrate all of our victories. Do a big night of carousing from the DMG, and see what happens. I think it could be fun.

If you decide to take up the offer to go back to Kheir, there will be adventuring awaiting.
Oh I see. I thought it was basically a month of downtime, catching up with people, and fleshing out backgrounds and stuff. Regardless, if everyone is interested, I would love to do some carousing as a group. Spread our partying legacy as well as our badass legacy. Also, here is the image I made for the robe of useful items. To everyone else, it looks like this, but I'm able to see the patches as the person wearing the robe. I'll upload something for the bag of holding soon as well.
And here's something for the party's bag of holding.
DM Rob, will you allow for magical items found in the official Adventures (HotDQ, LMoP, etc)? I'm interested in the insignia of claws(HotDQ pg 94).
Sweet Marco, love the images! As if we really need Darrak to have a 22 AC though .... -_- lol And Tam, can you post the details of the item here? I don't see why not. I just want to see what it does. And it's classified as uncommon? Since you guys are more powerful than your average level 7s (each of you have at least one if not two magical items), I'm going to start treating you as a party 1 or 2 levels above yourselves. See if we can't get you some harder challenges here.
Bring it Rob. I laugh in the face of these monsters. And maybe 1 more AC won't make a difference, but plate armor is considerable cooler than splint. Plus Darrak wants it, and I help my bros out. He taught me how to fight after all.

Basically it's a +1 weapon for unarmed attacks.

Here are the pictures of the magical items I will be buying: Winged Boots: Insignia of Claws, which I am reflavoring as a monk sash with this insignia: and here is the Blacksteel Dagger:
Last night's game was a ton of fun. Will we uncover Gen. Cassian as a traitor, either through malice or manipulation? Or are we mistaken? I enjoyed being able to go off and do a thing that made use of my unique abilities and if DM Rob hadn't planned for this, the improvisation was excellent. I am also happy that I was able to do so without monopolizing the game for any significant amount of time.
Wait, did I get my nights confused? We played last night? I thought it was this coming Sunday?
Nope. It was last night. We played 2 weeks ago on Sunday as well.
Crap! Sorry I missed it! I was home even. That's what's real frustrating. Works been super busy and I could have sworn it was our off week. I was laying here bored as hell and could have played! *sigh...
hahah yeah I know that feeling. That's why i got a separate game to play on my off sundays. I got bit by D&D fever and every other week wasn't gonna cut it.
We missed you Brock! Game is every other Sunday ... mark it on your calendar :) And thanks Rob, I did not plan for a lot of last session, most of it was improvised Since I had no clue what you guys wanted to do next, I just had a lot of options and let you choose... I can't believe Trace peed in a cup to get there on time lol
Do you guys think Cassian is a traitor, or are the traitors in the ranks just that good at manipulation? Or is there something else entirely? I want to hear your theories. If it's Cassian, why would he do it? If it's the traitors, why would they frame him? If it's something else, what could it be?
I'm leaning towards 60 percent cassian being a traitor. 10 percent traitors just being that good(cause when was the last time foot soldiers had initiative?), and the rest I would hazard a guess at unforseen circumstances. Actually, I'm upping cassian being a traitor up to 80 percent. I forgot that I had seen the circlet in the drow's bag.

Let's review the evidence: -The "rebels" spoke amongst themselves after the party (except Tarnach) left and legitimately believe that General Cassian is a traitor. HOWEVER, they could be intentionally spreading misinformation to Tarnach (which I do not believe to be the case since they would most likely have reacted if they caught him sneaking about). -General Cassian spoke to someone on a circlet of whisper (after very carefully making sure he was alone) and asked for a meeting in the courtyard (anyone else remember any more details about this conversation?). -When the General was asked by Ferdinand how he knew about the group of Drow infiltrated Fort Lightning, his response was "I had a feeling. At em boys !" -He was angry enough to cry out at the Drow after they poisoned him alongside Ferdinand and Vetari. -He did not take any aggressive action towards the Drow until after being the battle was clearly in our favour. He then tried to have the only Drow prisoner killed before finally relenting to Ferdinand and Belanor. -The bag the Drow captain had contained also contained a circlet of whisper. I think the evidence speaks for itself. General Cassian turned traitor and was arranging for Ferdinand's death in the courtyard via the Drow ambush. He would then place the blame on the "rebels" and have them killed during treason. However, all his plans went awry when we appeared. Our own ambush led the Drow to believe that Cassian had betrayed them and thus they planned to kill him alongside us. This was the cause of Cassian's outrage when he was also targeted by the mage's Cloudkill. When we slew most of the Drow, General Cassian knew the assassination attempt had failed and thus tried to kill all the Drow before they could reveal his betrayal to our party. I believe our party has all the evidence it needs to know that Cassian is a traitor. What we now need is damning evidence that we can present to a jury. If we can prove Cassian's circlet of whisper spoke with the Drow captain's circlet before the assassination attempt, that should be enough to convict Cassian.

Yeah, I agree with all of those points. I don't agree that they're unequivocal evidence that cassian is a traitor, but with the final clue in place(circlet of whisper) then it will be enough to cast no doubt whatsoever. In addition, I believe that the actual message cassian relayed through the circlet was something along the lines of - "the courtyard? At 9 pm? Very well. Make sure he/they? fall." Someone else can clarify if they know better, but I seem to recall that that was the message. Though of course, Tarnach doesn't know that since there was hardly any time for Orryn to detail his adventures.
While all these are good points, still no one has given me a good motive.  Motive is key for conviction, right? What would be his motive?
Pick your poison:blackmail(doubtful), power(highly probable), military might(as in he doesn't feel he's being valued enough with the Kheiron army so he wants to join the Jixian army, but he has to prove his loyalty) etc. Personally, I'm lobbying for doors 2 and 3. Cassian is a capable guy so I can't imagine he would be subdued by dark secrets or death threats to him or his daughter.  Although, if the Jixians got photos of him dressed in drag from his fraternity hazing days, that'd be enough to get a man to do anything lol.
Darrak missed it all and figures he can't trust any elves anyway. He votes for shanking them all just to be sure...
Don't forget there's a game tonight!
So, who expected that General Cassian was not General Cassian? Or was it a good twist? :P Demons ain't fuckin' around.
I didn't expect that. It was a straight OH shit moment. As a side note, we did a whole lot of rule lawyering last session.
agreed! we need to minimize that but also follow RAW unless house-ruled... I will start making more houserules if need be to speed action up.
