Token Actions Forced to alphabetical order!?!?!

ok so I spent a month or 2 loading monster stats into my game with token actions that were placed in a VERY specific  order... now they have all been forced alphabetical... thus making them frustratingly impossible to use. I use to be able to fix the arrangement by sliding the token action to the right place. but now it does not work that way anymore. I can not get them to rearnge to ANYTHING other then alphabetical. Please help!!!

What we've done is replaced our current system that grouped token actions by source with a system that puts them in alphabetical order. Now, if you want finer control over the ordering of your token actions you can number them or use some other naming convention. I would suggest a 01, 02, 03 etc ordering system? As this is not a bug but expected behaviour with the recent mini-release i'll move this thread to the specific use forum.

About this alphabetical order for token actions, what if I do not want to see a 01,02,03 or an A-B-C- in front of each of my token actions? I want to just be able to order it how I want with the name I want. Simple dragging would work here. Similar to the macros placed in macro quick bar. Is this difficult to do? Is it possible?

I agree with the original poster. The new system breaks every monster I ever built and makes a mess of things. Please consider making the alphabetical order optional or rollback the patch.

Especially since some of us have lots... of characters that needs to be edited in that way. I counted 140 different monsters in my games alone. Please reconsider this change. Options is good but forcing this change upon excisting characters isn't.

Please consider rolling back this part of the patch to the way it was before. I have hundreds of monsters and thousands of abilities to update otherwise. And it sounds like I am not alone. 

thank you all for your support.. these options would all work if were not for the fact that I just finished all the monsters for my game (HUNDREDS OF THEM) redoing the 20 or so macros for each will be so time consuming it would not be an acceptable option... tehy should have simply made a check box for alphabetical order, instead of forcing it....

Some might find amalgamating token actions via roll queries to be a more appealing solution. I'd imagine this process could be somewhat automated (or at least heavily assisted) by the API/bookmarklets.

To be honest the control that it seems some folks were exerting previously (by ordering them in the Abilities Tab) was not necessarily "intended" -- I think it was a side effect of an unrelated feature. Our goal is to eventually get to a point where you can drag and drop the token action buttons and order them how you want just like the quick macro bar, but there are some additional technical hurdles preventing us from doing that thus far. We will likely add an option so that you can get the old behavior back if you want it as a temporary measure, but when we reach the point that you can re-order them in the token bar we will remove that option.

DMing a game last night was exceptionally frustrating with this change. A great deal of my macros are similarly named but were organized very specifically so something that was a "double claw attack" was named DblClaw and the damage for such an attack was DblDMG. Moving the macros into alphabetical moved it from all my attack macros on one side and all the damage macros listed last  to a hideous mix up of macros, and adding a. or 01. did little to fix it seeing as it made some characters have two and three rows on their token action bar. A rollback option until they get movable handles like the main macro bar would be delightful. But while we're fantasizing about spectacular additions, a button to toggle between several main macro bars would also be divine. (I could see DM, Character1, Character2 being used frequently for myself)

I'm only just starting to learn this system.. but would it be simple enough just to add a search bar like with the journals tab?

Type % in the chat window and then any part of the name of your character ability macro and you can tab to run the macro. You can do this whether you are selected or not. Use the keyboard shortcuts ('c') to get into the chat window and there is no need for a mouse at all :) For global macros, you can do the same only use # instead of %. H

We've just pushed out an update which adds a new Setting to the My Settings tab called "Alphabetically sort Token Actions." By default it is enabled (which is the new behavior that was pushed out in the update on Tuesday), however if you un-check it then you should get the "old" behavior again where the Token Actions are not sorted alphabetically.
