Question to experienced DM's

How do you handle your PC's intentionally increasing their stats, or if you catch them using a macro such a 2d6ro<2 so they roll better dice. I am new to DMing and this is my first group. 

Kick them from the group if it happens more than once? First time could be a mistake. But after that, Booted. I dont tolerate cheaters at the table and its completely spoiling the point of the game.

Tbh there is no way around it really. People like that are playing for competition and not enjoyment of the game and story.  :/

Honey! I love you man. You just made me realize how big of a fool I am. He is using Great Weapon Fighter. I will talk with him about his stats because that is something I have been noticing. but the macro is right!

Just knowing your the GM, and being confident with your authority. You built the game, and if someone doesn't play the right way, your fully within your rights to make an issue of it. If they don't like it, they can make their own game. It's your house, and they are guests.  Other players will respect you for it ultimately so don't be afraid to lean on someone a bit if they douching the game up. 

I try not to ascribe malice where a simple mistake may be to blame.  I would point it out tactfully and see if it resolves the issue.  If not then I would remove the player, explaining that my table isn't set up for how they want to play. 

I trust my players, but I keep track of things like HP increases at each level, starting stats, ability score increases, etc. in the GM Notes section of their character sheet.  I do this so if a value accidentally gets erased (like they accidentally lower max HP instead of current) we know what it should be set back to.

Maybe you should use PB instead? I think that solves the issue in that it's a lot easier to catch any cheating players. If this isn't related to stats(as I admittedly cheat on occasion with rolling stats and nothing else.) then you better reveal this cheating with all the other players. Just to be more of an asshole and make things really awkward.
