Token Macros ???

For some time now I have been using character sheet macros (Abilities) and have had no issues until recently. When you click on the token, the macro bar appears correctly at the top left to right. You can arrange the order of the macros by placing them in order under "abilities" on the character sheet. Recently I noticed that a few of the macros were not in their proper place, so I went into the character sheet, saw they were in the wrong place (somewhere other than I clearly remember placing them when I created them) and placing them in their proper place. Sometimes this worked, but typically required odd combination of steps. I would have to click off "show as token macro", move where I wanted it to appear, then click on the "show as token macro". Sometimes this worked, others it would not work, or another macro would strangely move, but eventually I would figure out a way to get it the way I wanted. Today I joined my game to look over some stuff. Now all the macros are appearing in odd patterns again. I go into "abilities" and the macros appear to be in the proper order. I deselect the token and click on it again, still not right. I do all sorts of patterns to move stuff around, no change. So now I have no idea what is going on and why I cannot get my macros to appear as they do in "abilities". Suggestions or help?
Riley D. said: Token Action Ordering There have been quite a few requests for players to have better control over the ordering of your token actions. What we've done is replaced our current system that grouped token actions by source with a system that puts them in alphabetical order. Now, if you want finer control over the ordering of your token actions you can number them or use some other naming convention.

I was just going to post that they appear to be alphabetical order now. Why replace a system that worked previously without error for one that now is alphabetical, giving no control at all to the order of macros other than to rename them? Before it was easy to edit the character sheet (as a player or a GM) and place them in the order you wanted them to appear. This new change is completely unnecessary and makes it more difficult and actually curtails the ability of the player/GM to move things around quickly and efficiently. This makes no sense at all.

GRRRR. Now I have to go back and rename every macro for every single character, NPC and creature. I could have used the universal macro setup under "my settings" but this didn't make sense as no one but the GM could then modify the macro. GRRRRR! Double GRRRRR! Why "fix" something that is not broke? Why not have added an option for the GM or player to place them in alphabetical order with a radial selection? I cannot even tell you how much work this is going to make for me. So much in fact, I am thinking of just scrapping the darn game completely.

As this is not a bug but expected behaviour I'll move this to specific use questions. With regards to the volume of work involved, just reorder them as you use them, that's what I'm doing.
I have tried reordering them and was told the reason they will not stay is because they changed it to alphabetical. That is what this whole discussion is about. I have tried to reorder them in the character sheet and it still only shows up alphabetical. If you are able to make it work like it did previously, then tell me how because mine keeps defaulting to alphabetical even if I move them how I want them in the character sheet. Keep in mind we are talking about token macros and not universal macros.

As mentioned in the quote from Riley that Silvyre posted you can influence the order by using a logical naming convention. 01, 02, 03 etc prefixes seems the most common method that i've heard of or you could prefix them with a), b), c) etc? I can certainly understand the frustration but since the previous system was almost impossible to retain a set order with more than a handful of token actions this is definitely a step in the right direction.

Ordering them alphabetically should be optional. I was quite happy with the old method. And having to pre-pend all our macros with numbers just adds more bloat to the screen since each macro is now going to be three characters longer.

The previous way of doing things worked just fine. I cannot think of an instance it would not work for what you wanted, as long as you knew how to move the items around for placement within the character sheet. In the end, I think the best fix would have been to have an option for alphabetical listing if so desired.
For what's it's worth, you could always use zero-width spaces to order your macros. e.g. append n zero-width spaces in front of your nth listed token action. It might become tedious to reorder them, however.

I am still unclear as to why change things. There was already a tool that allowed people to arrange their character macros. The use of the: So I am still mystified as to this change of forcing users to alphabetize their macros. Stating its because people wanted to alphabetize their macros when there was already a tool in place to do exactly that. Yet NOT have something in place that would not impact those who already were using the tool satisfactorily. In fact, you now have a tool that has no function at all. Again, I don't understand.
