I have an abundance of notifications from a game's forum that I'm in. There's tons of traffic from this game, and I don't care to receive all the notifications from when someone post in the forum of said game. Is there a way to shut down the notifications from that game?

At this time there is no method to unsubscribe from game forum notifications that you have joined other than leaving the game itself.
