Our long-running group (switched this year from Pathfinder to 5E) has decided to expand the team by one player. We play each Saturday at 4pm Eastern time, for about 4 hours per session. The Setting Traditional Forgotten Realms, played in 5E, with a traditional AD&D 2E feel (we're old skool tabletoppers). The Campaign There are two sandbox scenarios that the group switches between every few sessions (to keep the character levels around equal). The events in these two scenarios happen concurrently, and sometimes affect one another. We launched with Mines of Phandelver when it first came out, and have expanded into a homebrew-style campaign that pits the characters against the Cult of Tiamat. The players decide what to do, where and when, and can choose to run with various plot hooks, or do something else. Currently, both groups are engaged, for their own reasons, in seeking to undermine the Cult. One group, mostly neutral-aligned hardened mercenaries, is based out of Daggerford on the Sword Coast. The other group, good-aligned hero-types, is in the Dalelands. Group composition is such that the new player has a lot of flexibility on class for the first group, but should consider a magic-using class for the second. Characters should be created at lv 6. 500 GP starting cash to buy equipment (it's low but you'll get geared soon after). Stats are standard array (15,14,13,12,10,8) +1, + racial mods. Any race and class in the PH is permissible. In this game, Tieflings are exclusively from the Empire of Netheril, Dragonborn are a new race (100 years old), and Dark Elves & Half-Orcs are playable but will suffer the usual prejudices when in towns. Standard factions like the Harpers, Zhentarim, etc are in the game and are available if desired. The Style Rules-as-written gameplay, with an emphasis on roleplaying. There are many ways to deal with problems, though the historical norm for this group has been 50% combat, 25% exploration, 25% diplomacy. Level advancement is faster than the typical game, with harder encounters and more generous loot. It's an ideal fit for the powergamer that also enjoys roleplaying and depth in a storyline. The Group Our players are mostly older (30's and 40's), and are fully dedicated to the game. Same people for almost two years, although some members in our pool of players transition in and out. We're looking for a mature gamer who is free every Saturday at game time except if their house burns down. We will quickly boot a new player for lateness, AFK, or lack of fit, but are lenient with someone who gets stuck-in with us. We aren't just looking to recruit for a game, but rather for a "family" of like minded gamers. Next Steps If you're interested and feel you might be a good fit, please PM me. If you're a keener, you'll also send me a mythweavers or google docs link with the characters you have in mind.
