character sheet.

Could you make the in campaign character sheet accesible outside the campaign by the players and the DM? it needs no changes in its format eg for the  3.5 the players can add the abilities and feats and gear at the abilities bar and the skills and saves and attack/grapples as prepared macros. If they are able to do that outside the campaign environment then the dms could just import the character sheet the players made in the campaign saving a lot of time in the game. Also the dm wont have to import the character and make all the macros and skills for them 1/1 or we wont need to alt tabb for mythweavers/whatever.

Using the current system why does the GM need to import the character and make all the macros and skills for them?  The players can just come in in-between games or before the first game and make the character sheet. If the GM wants to be nice he can make a template, duplicate the template for each player, and then assign it to the players. The GM would only need to make the character sheet once.  - Gauss
that means that I will have to first invite the player to my campaign before he can make his character (and many players dont agree to certain restrictions dms place on character selections) + it will also mean that the player has to go through that process for every campaign that uses that system, ( which is a lot of work in the DnD if I want to make a proper template it will take 2-3 hours) with that way they could save a template in a tab lets say my characters and then slightly alter it whenever they want to join a campaign with the same character making little effort. And they could also share a fully macroed template with the others for all to use if convinient. Though making a template that suits me for my campaign is a good Idea thanks for pointing it out since I am running my first campaign I did not think of it.

John , I am not commenting on your suggestion. My purpose is to help users with the tools we have available. A couple of comments you made lead me to believe that you may not be aware of all of the tools we have available. :) The two tools that are helpful here are the Transmogrifier and the Duplicate button.  Transmogrifier: You will only need to make a template once (per type of game) since you can now copy character sheets between campaigns.  Duplicate: You can duplicate character sheets and then assign the players to the new sheets.  - Gauss
