Chatlogs! And how to improve them.

In our game (and probably others as well), there are some sessions when not everyone is able to play. But everyone would like to read up on what happened during that session. Problem being, the chatlogs are a bit of a "mess". It's just a giant wall of text which usually takes a lot of time loading (with the occasional freeze up of the browser in some cases). These are some of my suggestions which might be of great improvement. -Logging the chatlogs by day/week/month It doesn't really matter how much time each file would be, but it would be nice to have it weekly or monthly. But now there is only one option, having everything from the start of the campaign to the last message posted, which is a bit too much. -Having those chatlogs in seperate folders -Downloadable logs in .txt format
Apart from reading chatlogs (which, seriously, can be sometimes rather dull) you could have one of the players (they may rotate) write a diary (adventure log) after each session. Those can be in character or out of character, whatever suits you and your players and should detail what happened during the session. I think they are more readable and more fun to read than raw chat log from some app. :) Wiki systems are good for this, as well as blog platforms. Or you can use something like Obsidian Portal.
Well yes, that could be a way of solving it. But that would defeat the purpose of having chatlogs, even if it's just for looking up some specifics which happened last session.
