[3.5][Long-term][Open World][US Based] LFP - The Heart of Karsus (FR Inspired Homebrew Setting)

1441626868

Edited 1444066733
After enduring decades of relentless pursuit, the followers of Shar would be lucky to total more than a few hundred, scattered across the vast expanse of Tarithel after the militarization of Mystra's Holy Orders, the Paladins of the Knights of the Mystic Fire and Rangers of the Order of the Shooting Star, and the ensuing crusade to "Bring light to the shadows". Tapping the last reserves of her power, Shar composes a bold plan - a way to seize the legendary Heart of Karsus. To do this, she summons six of the dozens of followers she has observed and evaluated for months, carefully selected with intent to create her own Chosen to rival those of Mystra, and launch her grand scheme into action. Update: LF 1 replacement (only 3 sessions in) Preferably a Cleric or supplemental melee. (Cleric/Warblade/Paladin variant/etcetc) Hopefully starting ASAP. *Arizona Based - No set playtimes at the moment. Times that would work: 4pm-11pm Weekdays, Saturday or Sunday (almost) all day. Dates and times are extremely open, though character creation will likely have to be done with me, just for the sake of fitting the current setting/time. If interested: - Add me on Skype @ hayes.grady.m (Image of a grey cat) First of all, the basics: - The world will be almost entirely homebrew, though (very) loosely based on the Forgotten Realms universe, and any WOTC book is allowed (Tome of Battle, Book of Vile Darkness, even Dragon Magazine material as long as it goes through me first for the OK). If you have a character concept in mind, please pitch me that instead. If you ask me to allow ten different books to create some hideous powergamey creation (Venerable Dragonwrought Jungle Kobold), I'm going to tell you no regardless of when I see it, and I'm more than happy to delay the session a day or two if it means a more balanced party. - This is an Evil campaign, leaning lawful/neutral evil. That does not mean this is a "Lawful Stupid" type campaign, nor a "Chaotic Stupid-mindlessly slaughter everyone and then die because of the attention you attract" campaign. Being Evil does not, in any way, correlate to being Stupid. Your characters would NEVER have even been considered for this task by Shar if they weren't intelligent or cunning beings in some way. Running into an inn to mindlessly slaughter everyone for no reason is going to resonate even less well with Shar than it would the local authorities, and your character will likely end up worse-than-dead. - This will be a very high-power campaign, and the players will very likely die if they make the wrong choices in the wrong situation. If you choose to go to an area which I've planned to be far above your level and rush in without any planning or scouting, do not expect any sympathy when those trolls TPKs the level 4 party. Though, I won't be too harsh, you'll have warnings beforehand and chances to escape (to a point) if you're in over your head. - Combat will require working together and executing sound strategy and tactics. If one member of the party charges in ahead of the group with no warning, they will very like get both themselves and the party killed. - Another note about powergaming, following the last comment: Powergaming is encouraged to a certain point. If you're a Venerable Dragonwrought Jungle Kobold or have to draw material for 20 different books to be able to obtain one feat (unless approved by me), you're going to have a bad time. Keep things relatively clean, and build your character towards a powerful concept that's enjoyable to have in the party for all involved, not just maximized numbers. - I'm extremely open to player suggestion and love to hear feedback and ideas from my players as to what they're looking for in a campaign. A good character background and motivation makes my job a thousand times easier and provides a lot more immersion. - Current party consists of a Swordsage, Beguiler, and Crusader. - Character Generation is still being decided at this point. Looking at levels 2-4 for start, and still discussing PB vs. Rolling for stats and such. - Anything not listed here is still being debated/discussed at this point. Edit: I hate that I feel that I have to post something like this, but while this is a Sinister/Evil campaign, there are some boundaries that shouldn't necessarily be crossed. This is a dark/gritty fantasy setting, so some gore and disturbing-ness is acceptable, but if things get out of hand I'll quickly call for a break and address whatever was inappropriate in private. I've never had this problem before personally, but I've heard some horror stories, so I figured I should probably make a mention of it.

Id be interested in playing a Neutral Evil Wizard, power at any cost but go with the flow sort. A real means to an ends sort of character. Id like to use some book of vile darkness and libris mortis stuff as well.
