LF One, Maybe Two - GURPS - Iron Glory! - A Pokemon Homebrew - Sundays @ 6:00pm (EST)

The Game:     So the game is based off of the GURPS rule set with a few house rules thrown in to benefit the game.  You as the player take control of a trainer and depending on how skilled you are as a handler, you may have 1, 2, or maybe even 3 pokemon at your beck and call to explore the world with you.  We have the two players currently and we are currently five sessions in and still going.  We ues both Roll20 and Skype for our game play and we play every Sunday Night at 6:00 EST, with the sessions lasting anywhere between 3-5 hours, really just depending on whether or not we reach a good stopping point or if a player has to leave we will end the game.  The game itself is in a sandbox setting but there are several plot hooks for you guys to follow which will be described below.  One more thing, the games and anime =/= this campaign.  You will see familiar people and places but they are not the same as they are in the series, but they will be familiar and appropriate to the setting The World:     The game is set in the Kanto region and it is currently the summer of 2035.  It is a world that is slightly more technologically advanced compared to ours but with a few differences.  Black powder / Gun powder does not exist, and because of that, guns do not exist in this setting. Mana, also known as Ether, exists in this setting, and it allows the use of minor magic for those born with an affinity for it.  It also fuels the several different abilities and powers that pokemon possess, and it is the reason why some pokemon are superior to others (Super effective attacks and what not).  Pokemon evolve by becoming exposed to overwhelming amount of mana, whether it be by absorbing the mana of other beings by slaying them, by absorbing it through the ecosystem, or through other artificial means.  Once they absorb enough mana, their body will experience sudden radical changes and will grant them enhanced levels of strength.  Be careful though, Pokemon that are companions to trainers absorb mana much more efficiently due to the exposure of carefully manufactured pokeonium powder found within their capturing device.  Compared to their wild counterparts, they must absorb significantly more mana to make up for this, but this means that they are exponentially more dangerous.     One popular event that happens every 10 years is what is known as Iron Glory.  Trainers from all over the world will gather and compete for one of the 16 spots in the Iron Glory Tournament, to see who is truly the most powerful trainer within all the regions.  To earn one of these 16 spots, Trainers must compete in the preliminary trials, which serves as a tool to weed out the unworthy among all the challengers.  These preliminary trials are always held at a secret location, and it is up to the trainers of the world to discover where it's hidden location is at.     Some other events that have been happening around the region.  A few days ago, the city of water, Cerulean City, was laid to waste by unknown forces.  Previously home to almost a half-million people, the city experienced what some call "A great ice age" as the entire city is nothing but ice (Imagine day after tomorrow).  The surrounding suburbs have all evacuated and the entire area has been put under a state of Martial Law.  It has become a militarized zone until further notice and anyone who is still remaining is to evacuate immediately.  Of course people see this crisis as an opportunity, and now the outskirts of Cerulean sees unparalleled levels of pillaging, looting and rioting.  The Hunter Association responded with a public message to all the trainers of the region that Iron Glory will not by canceled and the event will continue.  In respect of the thousands of lives lost, and the beautiful city that Cerulean once was, one of the requirements for entering and finding the preliminaries has been revealed.  A pokemon with the spirit and pride of Cerulean. If you would like to know more, feel free to ask in a private message or within this forum post What we are Looking For: Someone who can consistently play Sunday nights (6:00pm-11ish pm) Someone with some knowledge of the GURPS system, or the willingness to sit down and learn A team player 18 years or older please If you are interested, please either make a post here or send me a private message.  Some details I recommend that you include: Your character's name, background, goals, history, etc.  Could be a summarized paragraph or as detailed as you like An idea of what kind of starter pokemon you would like What sort of role your character/pokemon would play in the world Whether or not you have any experience with the GURPS rules set How much RP'ing experience you have Thanks for reading guys and I hope to hear back from you all!

Bump.  Still interested in finding a player or two
This honestly looks incredibly fun. I love Pokemon. Ever since I was a kid. I've owned every single incarnation of the handheld games and most versions of stadium/colleseum. I'm however not familiar with gurps and am pretty new to RPGs. Are there any helpful links for someone who wants to learn?
hey i love pokemon and i played some gurps games plus l am bored so i be happy to join
Ive never played GURPS but ive played PTU and PTA as well as Pokethulu, ive played alot of Savage Worlds and ive heard that its similar. The game sounds pretty fun, see my profile for more info
My character would be a fledgling Keytar player and pokeDisk Jockey, his goal is to gain fame by defeating the elite four, its pretty much the plot to We are your Friends, He probably would have a magicarp, noibat, and his star pokemon, the greatest pokemon of all time, Pachirisu
