Using higher spell slot on 5e shaped character sheet?

I an trying to understand how to input the higher level spell and I dont understand these three boxes that I have circled about higher level and its query. This is a bard casting cure wounds as a 2nd level spell slot with a Charisma of +3. How will I know if I actually rolled 2d8 instead of 1d8? Can someone help me understand how these work on a sheet?

"Higher level heal amount" is a flat amount (only 1 or 2 spells use this). Ex: 40 "Higher level heal dice" is the amount of dice. Ex: 2 "Higher level heal die" is the dice size. Ex: d8 You can see this in the placeholders. (where it is 1 on dice, and d6 on die) Perhaps die should be a select, not an input to avoid any confusion.

Added this to the latest sheet:&nbsp; <a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/2146354/5e-shape" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/2146354/5e-shape</a>...
Okay. Thanks for the help. (:
Oh yes and does the "Higher level heal amount" also apply to features such as the Life Domain cleric that gets bonus to heal spells?

Convenient. Thanks again (:
