New to roll20 and haven't played a while.

So I just recently learned about this site through some streams on twitch, I intend to look for a group in dnd setting, problem is I haven't played since like 2nd edition really. I did very little of 3.0 but never really was able to find a group to actually play with. Mainly im looking for info on what I should get before I attempt to join someone's LFG so I am atleast prepared enough material wise to get back into the game. Im assuming of course players handbooks, anything else I really need to get? Thanks all for any information, always appreciate a good community.

Moved to Off-topic (your questions are more about game systems rather than Roll20 itself). Your first step should probably be deciding which game system you wish to get into. The popular games on Roll20 are D&D 3.5, D&D 4, and Pathfinder (a variation on D&D 3.5) but there are many more game systems that people use on Roll20. Once you decide which game system you want to get into then the matter is getting the books. You can find most of the rules for 3.5 on various SRDs, here is one: http://www.d20srd.org/ You can also find the free rules for Pathfinder here: http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ and here: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/ You can find D&D 4th edition quick start rules here: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/Feature.aspx?x=new/learntoplay but just a warning, WotC is currently working on a 5th edition called D&D Next. If you decide to purchase books for 3.5 you can hit up the used books in your local gameshop. For Pathfinder and D&D 4e the books (and PDFs for Pathfinder) are in production. - Gauss
