Join Links Banned?

Is it against the rules to post a join link from a campaign in the forums?  The Code of Conduct seems to say that it's just not encouraged, and a mod replied to my post with it being "strongly discouraged."  However, that same mod also deleted the link, which seems to suggest that the practice is banned.  If it is, then the rules should be clear on that being the case.  If it's not banned, then links shouldn't be deleted just because a mod doesn't like it.
The Roll20 Mod Team discourages the posting of open join links to the forums because (a) you have no control over who sees and clicks the link and (b) kicking a player changes the join link making the previously posted link no longer valid.

I'm well aware of the reasons, but "discourage" is still not "prohibit" so that doesn't answer the question.  I knew all of those things when I posted the link.

While it is not banned, it is not encouraged. The reasoning (for the most part) of removing join links is due to new members not being aware of it letting just anyone join the campaign. This practice started roughly when we, us mods and devs, started getting multiple complaints about people joining games just to harass or spam. If you wish to have the link in your post, you can just edit the original post to add the link back. I would also add a slight disclaimer stating you are aware of the danger of random joins. We are sorry for any problem it caused.

It wasn't so much a problem as it was unexpected, and seemed more than a little condescending.  The group that I linked to is the OOC group, so I fully expected that posting openly would get a random mix of people.

Since your question has been answered here (and in the pm), I'm going to close this thread. Again, I'm sorry for any issue it might have caused.
