[PF][Help] Want to make a Pirate character for fun, need advice

So ya, just watched the first two movies of Pirates of the Caribbean, and I've been inspired to make a pirate type character. Currently reading about Victorian times type "pirates" and the ilk. But as for a RPG character, and more so for D&D Pathfinder, I could really use some help by experienced players who have played games out at sea. The character will start at level 1 for ease of just character creation, and then we can go form there if more interest in making this forum-guide thing to a pirates life :P I found the Pirate arch-type class of the pathfinder Rogue: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/rogue/archetypes/paizo---rogue-archetypes/pirate Though I don't feel like it might actually be such a good class... but then again, i guess it depends on how one plays... But I would like to get some more knowledge before I brave the sea and puke on fuses. What feats and items would be a good direction to go, what should I expect to encounter out at sea thrown at me by evil GMs, What could I do to help counter them, what can I do to help support fellow party, etc etc etc.... I know it's a lot to ask of the community, but still, I'd like to actually be able to provide a good solidly made character and good game for both fellow players and the GM. And who knows, maybe there is others out there who would like to know some of this stuff too.
This forum is for the designing, building and fixing of the character sheets used in the games, not the individual characters in the game. There are far better places to ask for that advice, especially those who cater to whatever system you are using. If you wanted information on why your stats are coming up certain ways or how to make the css behave, free free. But the only advice I have on how to make a pirate more fun comes from a Cthulhutech game, which is not very D&D compatible.
