Ye Olde Blacksmith and Armory (Under Construction)

The post below is scrap notes. It is for me and me alone. However, since I'll likely work on it at school as well as home, I decided to go ahead and post it as a WIP. Soon, probably before our next session, I'll have this finished. All weapons and armor purchases other than starting gear will take place here when complete. Things not on the finished list won't be available. If you're bummed by that, don't be. Practically everything staple to the genre in Low-Tech Instant Armor will be here. Also, your PC can probably make requests for exotic or otherwise unlisted weapons and armor, but in-character , meaning rolls will be required. Well, I tried to copy and paste my file but none of the white space was preserved. Gah! I hate Roll20's forum software! It's so terrible! There's no way I want to build a Roll20-only table. That would take forever. Later, I'll post an image of a PDF, I guess.
Maybe put a link to a Google docs file? Or, since people will be rolling, paste your file directly in the game room as a handout (it has better formatting AFAIK). Then people can log in, write down their wanted purchase and make their roll, it'll be in the log and you can review it later at your leisure.
Ah, both are good suggestions, but I think the Google Doc might be what I seek. Thanks! :-)
Still a work heavily in progress, but here is what I'm doing: http://pastebin.com/Vsu27M9V
This is largely complete, minus weapons: http://pastebin.com/eJvuimKy
Not sure if I'm sharing this in the best way, but here is the Google Doc format: Ye Olde Blacksmith and Armory Currently sporting a shiny, brand new version 1.0.0. I'm sure it will get multiple revisions before game day tomorrow (Nov. 15). This was all hand typed in Notepad first, then formatted in the Google Doc. Could there be some math mistakes, etc.? Hell yes! Please do check over it! The more checking the better! Almost all of this comes straight out of Low-Tech Instant Armor . A tiny bit comes just from Low-Tech . I also added horns from DF Denizens: Barbarians (see page 7 of the Google Doc). They take precedence over the ones from Fantasy Tech . We're going to try mixing the equipment modifiers from Dungeon Fantasy with those from Low-Tech. However, there have been grave warnings about doing so and I have sincere reservations. Currently, the Armory isn't offering anything with DF modifiers but that will probably change. I spent a lot of time on this and I hope everyone can and will use it. Like I say, starting with our next game, all weapon and armor purchases will be recorded here in this thread. Again . . . If you buy weapons and armor, from arrows to plate armor, you need to record the transaction right here even if done while we are playing on game day . Weapons have yet to be added to the list. The details of all of this have yet to be finalized. This is all kinda in the testing phase, but we'll get it sorted in the coming weeks. What about items not on the list? Well, your character can make a request, but note we'll be using construction times from LT Companion 3 . A fine suit of full plate armor could take a year to forge! We'll talk more about it. What about selling items? We'll see how that goes, but it will happen here, too.

Stripe said: What about items not on the list? Well, your character can make a request, but note we'll be using construction times from LT Companion 3 . A fine suit of full plate armor could take a year to forge! We'll talk more about it. There is a spell that lets you craft at double speed (because of course there is), there might not be a wizard/ tailor/ smith/ whatever in town with the spell but bringing someone like that in sounds like it could make for a nice 'town upgrade' :-) You have two entries for Heavy Half-plate: Torso You have two entries for light brigandine armour too I have a spreadsheet of LT:IA already, here's a link to a trimmed down verson of (most of) the armour above, in case anyone else wants to use it for reference -- it has greater information density than the pretty google doc that stripe has used, but none of the fluff (Stripe has listed heavy plate as steel, and cheap plate as iron for instance). It doesn't have hand or foot wear just yet, but I could add them in. I wouldn't mind keeping it up to date as armour is purchased and restocked either :-) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rptEHjR6do... E: Heavy layered leather for the arms doesn't exist in LT:IA, and the price suggests that you've derived it from the torso armour or something. Is that right? E2: You've mistakenly given a plate pot helm the quality that inflicts hard of hearing. I don't think that that is correct.
Archie, thanks a ton for looking it over for me! I knew there would be some bugs. Hours of boring drudgery tend to produce such. I'll remove the double entries and the erroneous note to the pot helm. We must very strongly consider all the various crafting spells such as Cadence ( Magic , p. 39) and Inspired Creation (p. M115) and even ones like Repair (p. M118). As for the heavy layered leather arms and legs, I used the same rules of construction that Low-Tech Instant Armor used; i.e. Low-Tech . LTIA is really just worked examples of LT. Though I said I spent a lot of time on the Doc and so I hoped everyone can and would use it, if your suggestion is to not use it and instead use your spreadsheet, that's fine, but there are aspects in regard to whatever we use that I want implemented. So, if a spreadsheet is preferable, or if I need to increase information density so that I create something that everyone will want to use, then I will.
My bad on the armour construction thing. Clunkiness and low information density were my my major gripes and I feel like that's a limitation with google docs and not actually your fault -- there's so much dead space on either side of the page that never gets used and there's no option to view two pages of a document simultaneuosly. I've exported the armoury list to foxit reader and that seems to works well enough. All hail the great lord Foxit!
No, no! I wasn't disagreeing! I want what's best for everyone, and yes, I had exactly the same gripes. The page breaks and wasted space is annoying! Also, yes, Foxit is worlds better than Adobe's Reader. Chris suggested I give it another chance after trying it out years ago and not liking it. I love it! I'll consider trying to get my list into a spreadsheet if that works best, but not before this coming game. Also remember this is only for purchases after character creation. This is an actual in-game store in Brecconary that your characters will use to buy and sell weapons and armor.
