Hello everybody.
I can't find a D&D 4e group to play a character and have 3 groups which I have to master to get them going.
That made me thinking about other options, besides mastering a forth group.
I thought: Why not play a hack&slay-based campaign.
I don't need that much time to prepare and can have fun playing D&D.
But that way I still can't play a character unless I use them as NPCs.
And while watching DotA 2 I thought, why not play with a character against other players.
After sitting down and thinking how to do this, here is my idea:
I am looking for 3,5,7 or 9 players (9 would be perfect).
Each player creates a "Gladiator" to fight one battle (encounter) with his team in an arena (thinking about 50x50 squares with random obstacles as cover).
Send your character-sheet to: skywarrior@gmx.net
PDF or JPEG preferred.
The first 9 legal "Gladiators" will join this event on the 6th of October
18:00 UTC ["World Time"]
23:00 CET
14:00 MST / PST8PDT
16:00 EST
If some participators doesn't show, I will invite the next in line.
Out of the pool of all participators, two random assigned willing captains, will pick the team. All players get some basic information about the other participators.
How to pick:
A random d100 decides who picks first.
Captain A choses his first ally
Captain B choses his first and second ally
Captain A choses his second and third ally
Captain B choses his third and fourth ally
Captain A gets the last player as his last ally
How to create a "Gladiator":
Your Character-Level is 6;
Equipment value: 6600gp [only Heroic-Tier-Items]
Abilities: Either with the point-buy-system or one of the basic arrays.
Event-legal sources for class/race/feats/powers/items etc to build a character are:
- Players Handbook 1-3
- Eberron Player's Guide
- Forgotten Realms Player's Guide
- Monster Manual 1&2
- Arcane Power
- Martial Power 1&2
- Primal Power
- Adventurer's Vault 1&2
- Divine Power
Your Equipment:
6 hand-sized items like potions, dust, dagger and other light thrown weapons, can be "readied" to use as a minor action.
2 additional 1-hand-held items can be carried on a belt (or something) to draw as a minor action.
3x1 hand-held or 1x2 hand-held item + 1x1 hand-held item can be carried on the back.
Special Ammunition can be recognized as a minor action in addition to the loading time.
A quiver counts as a 1 hand-held item
A bolt-case or bullet-pouch counts as hand-sized item.
Besides that Equipment, you can have the basic slots equipped as usual.
Further Rules:
Only heroic-tier equipment is allowed
No Background story bonus.
No intimidate-check to force surrender
No Artifacts, Boons, Intelligent Items or "exotic" materials for equipment [like Mithril etc]
No mounts or other heavy war-machines allowed
No Guild, Bloodline, Heritage, Tribal or Dragonmark - Feats
No Daily Powers or Daily Magic Item uses at all are allowed
Every source of uses per day (like "Surges per day" or the pladins "Lay on Hands")
is divided by 3;
fractional portions >= 0,5 is rounded up; <0,5 is rounded down.
In fact every >=X,5 is rounded up; <X,5 that will somehow occure is rounded down.
That means a score of:
0,65 = 1; 0,50 = 1; 0,49 = 0; 0,33 = 0 and so on.
All characters roll initiative. Only the highest score matters to decide the starting team.
The captains decides the order of their team every round and after the first player of the first team ends his round, the first member of the second team takes his turn.
For character-specific questions you can contact me on Skype: joe.black496
For general questions, post a comment here.
The slots will get filled depending on the date of the email with your ready-to-play character(-sheet), so you don't have to write that you want to join.
Read the rules, create a character, send it to me and wait for my response.
I know that it is another type of "Role playing", but I am looking forward to blow some steam off and enjoy the D&D-combat-system together with the competition =)
