New player with a question.

Alright this is the first time I've gotten into pen and paper style gaming. My family did it when i was real young, but they stopped doing it by the time I was old enough to enjoy it. Now what I am going to ask is. To roll up a character you should have the GM/DM present so he makes sure you don't "fudge" any rolls correct? I assume you should especially if it is with a gm you don't know yet. Thanks in advance.

Every Gm has their way of how they want a character created so it is best to talk with the Gm first.

Moved to off-topic.   Some game systems use point buys to create the characters rather than dice rolling. Pathfinder for example has both a point buy or dice rolling options. Which is used is up to the GM.  - Gauss
Dylan, In addition to the point buy, since Roll20 has a chat log, I will allow my players to roll up stats even if I'm not there (I typically use the "/r 4d6k3" command, which keeps the highest 3 die rolls). It will keep a record of what they rolled, and I'll compare it to their final character sheet.
Ah thanks guys appreciate the quick and helpful answers.
