Character Focus from Journal

I have situations where the PCs are not always in the same location. Would be helpful if there were a command i could use to center my map on a specific token. Or possibly by shift-clicking a PC from the journal tab. This would allow me to move from token to token, and allow the PCs to find their own token. I don't necessarily want to move everyone's screen across the map when only one PC was teleported (for example). Letting them shift-click their char sheet in the journal would help them quickly locate where on the map they are. Maybe also from the user Avatar (popup if controlling more than one token?), since it's always on the screen. Would keep from moving from the chat tab to the journal tab and back.

https://wiki.roll20.net/Tabletop_Overview As per the wiki: Pinging the Map If you click and hold down anywhere on the map, radar rings sprout out from the point of your mouse cursor. These Pings are visible to everyone currently playing the Campaign. The GM/Players' current user color is applied to each Ping to better identify who's indicating what. This tool can help indicate points of interests on a map Shift+Ping (GM Feature) A GM can force all their players to view a certain area of the map by holding the Shift key while Pinging. This is very helpful if you have a very large dungeon map to explore. When a new Page is loaded, the Tabletop's view is automatically set to the upper left hand corner of the Page. If you have the Fog of War enabled, your players might be greeted with their entire Tabletop filled with black fog. Instead of the players panning around the Page to locate their tokens, a Shift Ping leads your players right where they need to be.

That is the current setting but many have been asking about what you suggested in various forms.
I appreciate the quick reply and the information. I am aware of the shift-ping to scroll players to my focus, and this is great when all of the PCs are in the same location on the map, but what about when they aren't? If i have a player on the left-most edge of my map, and another player on the right-most edge of my map, i don't need to force the left player to scroll to the right player's position. In most cases, the left player would end up with a black screen (due to dynamic lighting). There would be times i want to force all to look at a location, regardless of where their token may be - in that case, shift-ping is exactly what I would need. But there are times I would not. I am requesting that i can shift-click a character sheet from the journal, and my screen scroll to that token's location on the map. Also, by clicking a player's avatar, a popup menu with a list of all tokens they control that i could select one, and my screen navigate to that specific token. This would also allow PCs to find their own tokens easily without me shift-pinging each location, causing everyone's screen to scroll repeatedly unnecessarily. Again, if they are on different parts of the map, a shift-ping might help one PC while moving another PC from their token. Again, do appreciate the quick reply.

I understand but I was just making sure that the current state of use was known. Your suggestion is a great idea and there has been others that have made suggestions that were similar also. I personally think it should be where each player can locate their token from their sheet and in the process let the gm locate that token in the same manner. I'm not sure if a popup menu of a list of tokens would be feasible or even that usable unless you are talking about a large amount of tokens (player controlling an army). Most games the player would have control of maybe 6 or a dozen max and you could use the status markers to show that they are control by a specific player with a colored dot or something else of similar nature. You do have some really interesting suggestions.
The info and direction is greatly appreciated. I had done a quick search, but didn't see anything specific. If it's been suggested before, i need to improve my choice of search terms. :) The popup was to address the possibility of an avatar controlling more than one token - a way to distinguish which token i wanted to focus. I hadn't thought of the army approach, would be a lengthy list. In my mind, however, it popup was specific to a character sheet. With the games I DM, perhaps three tokens would be the max. I need to get into the mindset, however, of non-system specifics when posting. Still, couldn't imagine setting up a journal entry for each army member. Wow. Thank the Devs for Duplicate! Anyway, thanks again for the insight. Been here a short time, and am enjoying the active community thus far!

If I remember correctly, there was a suggestion where clicking on an entry in the Turn Tracker took you to that token. That would be a good way to deal with the army issue. - Gauss

Yup Gauss, that was one of them that I remembered reading about and I think there was another one or two but it has been months since I read it. You are welcome Matt and please feel free to make more suggestions. There are so many people playing so many different games that a suggestion that could be used by a majority of people but not thought of yet is still very possible. The devs and the mods (I think) have asked people to think outside the box about things that could be added to the site and so you did. Not every suggestion gets a reply (Dev's don't reply here anyway but they do read the suggestions) but they are always interesting to read and some of them make a person go "Hmmmm, that is something I didn't think about and it is cool" and add their comment in. So keep up the good suggestions. I'm no one important here but just someone that paid their subscription rate and just like to chat with other gamers.
