Saturday Gaming Club

I post this initially as an interest check. I am new to Roll20, running my first game on Friday night. A Trail of Cthulhu One-Shot which I am looking forward to. Previous to this I have been running games on Fantasy Grounds 2 for just over a year. The stumbling point has been I love a lot of systems that I can not play due to the lack of a rule-set. This has led me to move to the system agnostic Roll20. I have been impressed by the vibrant Roll20 community and also by the amount of new players looking for games. Currently on the Fantasy Grounds forum they have a Saturday Gaming Group set up, I have played in a couple of these games and they were great. What I propose, with enough interest, is to run something similar for the Roll20 community. In essence weekly or biweekly I would run a one-shot adventure using different rulesets. This would help me meet more members of the community and help those looking to play a oneshot or try new systems. It could potentially expand the number of guides available for running different systems, though i'm no macro genius! Please post if this is something you would like to see in the community and would look to play or GM (I like to be a player sometimes to). A little about me, I'm based in the UK but Saturday's should make it work for those in different time zones. Personally I would look to run Trail of Cthulhu, Wild Talents and World of Darkness to name my favourites, but If you want to see or offer any system please post. I look forward to your thoughts.
What time on Saturdays would it be? If it's within my schedule I'd definitely be interested.
I'm up to play just about anything. I'm West Coast US though, so it really depends on the time.
I'd look to run games from 7:30 PM (UK Time) finishing around 23:00. Thanks for your posts.
I would love to play some games, although I have never played any of those mentioned but I'm willing to invest time into learning them. I don't know how you stand to new players. (I've mostly played dnd 3.5e and warhammer 40k) I'm in GMT+1 zone zo time would be no problem for me.
New players is really what I hope for. As I'd like to offer a lot of different systems I won't have experience GM'ing them all so I would look to learn together. I'll see how interest develops and then post a couple of games and see what happens. Thanks for your interest.
Most Saturdays at that time should work for me. Count me in.
Good stuff. I'm running a Cthulhu game this weekend which is full but I'll plan a couple of games in and see how many takers I get.
Ok then very interested, if you could just send me an invite or give me a heads up for the games you plan on doing that would be very much appretiated
Well I ran my first game using Roll20 on Friday night, running A Trail of Cthulhu One Shot "The Murderer of Thomas Fell". I enjoyed myself very much and hope those that played did to. I now hope to start the Saturday gaming club in earnest. My first offering with be a New World of Darkness: Mortals game - "The Nightmare at Manor Hill". I have space for 4 players on a first come first serve basis. The Game will run at 19:30pm (UK Time) on Saturday 10th August. Game Link: https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/7531/the-nightmare-of-manor-house If interested join via the link. Please post here also to get a bit of chat going. Players can offer to run a game, suggest a game they'd like to try etc etc. As mentioned at the top of the post I'm hoping to make this a regular session after NWod I probably aim to run: A Cthulhu Dark adventure A game of Fiasco However I can turn my hands to most things if someone fancies playing something inparticular.
I am interested as well. will follow this thread and join the group if possible. wont be able to make every saterday. but i am interested in doing 1 shots, various game to meet people ... east coast time. shane
This should suit you then. I plan to stick to one shots, this means I can play new systems with different players. If you sign up and play one game there is no expectation for you to play regularly after that.
can you post a link to the group. and what day and time is it. Is there a way to do a waiting list, like a maybee list. I just dont know yet what next saterday is looking like for me yet.
Game link a couple of posts up, above the screen shot. You can sign up through the link when you know if you'll be able to make it.
ok, got it the link. it says 2:30, what time zone is that in? I am u.s. eastern I will have to wait till mid week to sign up, maybe there will still be spots left. thank you shane
disregard the last post, i see you already said 7:30 uk which i think is 3:30 us eastern (gmt -4 is us eastern) shane
The game time always sets to your local time. The game is at 7.30pm my time which must be 02:30 your time.
Currently 2 players signed up with 2 places left.
So another two players have declared interest so hopefully a full house for Saturday.
So this Saturday I'm running a NWoD Mortals game which is looking like being fully subscribed so I'm pleased with that. The next two games I plan to run (dates to be confirmed) are: Cthulhu Dark - The Dying of St Magarets Hollow Earth Expedition - Scenario to be decided. While dates are to be confirmed it would be nice to know if people were interested in playing. Thanks
I've had a ton of interest for tomorrows NWoD game but only two confirmed players. What are you waiting for? Sign up!
Sorry , can make tomorrows game. shane
No worries. Thanks for letting me know.
Looking good for a full house for World of Darkness tomorrow. 4 players signed up and we're good to go. Should be a blast!
In a last minute rush 5 players now signed up for the game. The game is now full and I can't wait to run it.
Well NWoD "The Nightmare at Manor Hill" has now been played. I had a great time experiencing paranormal horrors and extreme violence (Mark U. & Jason T. I'm looking at you here!). Thanks to Mark U. Jason T. Hakan B. Foxkage and Logan S. for showing up and getting into the roleplay. It was a pleasure to run the game for you.
Well it was really fun, you were a perfect gm so i really enjoyed it. At first i couldn't understand you because of your english accent but i really enjoyed it later :D Keep up the good work :D :D
The curse of the English accent! I'll try to be clearer in future. Glad you had a good time.
I've watched enough british television, so the accent was no problem for me! But you were a fantastic GM, very patient as well. I hope to game with that group again! :)
Yea if we could play with that same group again it would be great!
It was my first time playing on roll20 and I thoroughly enjoyed it, great group, great GM, I would love to play a game with you guys again :D
Definately enjoyed it, nice laid back group and you did a great job GMing :) Would be up for playing again with the same group for sure
Also the violence was Foxkage and Jason :P
My apologies Mark. You were the laid back guy with the broken laptop. There were violent tendancies there though. Sorry for the error.
I mean of course your character was quite laid back. I had a great time it was a good laid back group as mentioned and I think things went well. As I said on the night it was the first time I'd run NWoD predominantly being a Cthulhu GM and loved it, there will definitely be more to come. I'd like to game with you guys again but that's the beauty of what I'm trying to achieve with the Saturday Gaming group, you can pick and choose which of my games you like the look of and sign up as and when you are available. I bit utopian but I just love gaming with new people and there does seem to be a need with a lot of players posting looking for a group. I'm away this weekend so no game but i'll have something on Saturday 24th August. I read so much roleplaying material I change my mind on what to run but in no particular order as yet I will run: Call of Cthulhu, Dark Heresy and more NWoD (possibly Mortals, Hunter or Changeling). Keep an eye out for upcoming posts. Thanks
After a ridiculously long hiatus I am ready to run a game again. I plan to run a Pathfinder 1 shot at 8pm UK time tomorrow night. I'll post a link to the game listing when I'm in front of the PC copy and pasting is tough on a phone, fat fingers!
Me and a friend have lost most of our local players so we'd be up for some Roll20 gaming! Definitely excited for you starting more Cthulhu and Dark Heresy. :D
Hi Logan, I'm running Pathfinder this weekend but the games full. Looking to run a Realms of Cthulhu (Savage Worlds Cthulhu) Game in the next couple of weeks so will let you know when that is planned.
