Ghastenhall

After a couple weeks of travel (whether by land or by river, your choice), you arrive in Ghastenhall. Located on an island at the mouth of the Godscar River, Ghastenhall is Talingarde's largest city and main trade port, an ancient, crowded, and untidy city. Untidy in more ways than one: the wealth brought by trade has brought a luxury and an openness of spirit that even the Zealot's years on the throne were unable to exterminate. It is one of the few places in Talingarde where crime is more than an uncommon occurrence, and the great Library of Ghaster and its associated universities produce a freethinking attitude that would be inconceivable in the capital, Matharyn.  Even the ravages of the Fire-Axe's army to the north and east don't seem to disturb Ghastenhall much. Summer is already dying. Soon enough, everyone is certain, the barbarians will have to retreat back to their own lands or settle down for the winter. And if they stay south of the Watch Wall, King Markadian will fall on them in the spring and destroy them once and for all.  It is to this wealthy, worldly, complacent city you come, bearing dark secrets with you, not least of those a green ceramic vial that may well hold the deaths of thousands within it...
Time is usually no issue for Tek, but after two-thirds of a year, a couple weeks is easily a blink of an eye for him. Being back in his former home is not very exciting for him due to what happened here, but he is looking forward to finding his former master and teaching him a lesson- after he does the mission here of course... Tek travels to the library of Gaster and looks for Thrane on the inside.
The Library of Ghaster has been sponsored by the dukes of Ghastenhall for centuries, and has grown into the largest collection of books and scrolls in Talingarde, a massive building backed up against the walled Lord's Hill. Searching for a particular person or thing in it is an alarming prospect, but some careful questioning helps you discover that Barnabus Thrane is well-known as a scholar-in-residence at the Library. Directions from helpful students lead you to a side reading room where a man in the blue robe of a Mitran priest sits studying a dusty volume.  Barnabus Thrane is the picture of a Mitran sage, with a lined face and bushy, gray-shot beard. Around his neck hangs a large sun-symbol of silver and sapphire, marking him as a respected and influential member of the priesthood. As you approach, he continues reading until he reaches a break in the text, and then lifts his head to stare at you with deep-set eyes. "What may I do for you?"
