How does one prevent the player from moving through walls?

How does one prevent the player from moving through walls? Is there a specific way to make a barrier where a player cant move or does the GM just have to make sure that they arent?

Dynamic Lighting is a Plus or higher subscription feature. https://app.roll20.net/account/supporter Basically it's as simple going to the DL layer of the map and drawing your boundaries/barriers. Enabling the feature on your page settings and ensuring your tokens have sight and a light source. Bob's your uncle. :-) Wiki Info: https://wiki.roll20.net/Dynamic_Lighting and Wiki Dynamic Lighting Guide: https://wiki.roll20.net/Dynamic_Lighting_Examples Cheers
One thing to keep in mind, if a player is able to group together more than one token on the map and then moves them, individual tokens can be dragged across a light barrier. Most of my players have two characters and will occasionally get one of them "stuck" in (or even behind) a wall.

If there's a 1px gap in your barrier, a token(not matter how large) can pass through your barrier as well. From an old test:

I think the person who asked this question is not using dynamic lighting, so if that is the case, there is no way to prevent the tokens from moving. Have a look at "Fog of War" feature, This will not stop them from moving to areas, but it will block their vision.

I usually just show player's on the map that there is a barrier that they cannot cross, maybe something like portcullis, cliff/building ledge, force-field, etc. I like your idea of using FOW as well al e.

Here is the Roll20 wiki documentation for Fog Of War, method as al suggested, https://wiki.roll20.net/Fog_of_War
Hey Tony M. - as our very helpful community mentioned above, the ability to Restrict Movement with walls is a feature available only to Supporters via our Dynamic Lighting & Line of Sight features. As a basic user, your best bet is Fog of War, which can only be removed by the GM; the presence or absence of PCs, light sources, lines of sight, etc. will not roll back any Fog of War and as al e. stated, it will not restrict the movement of your tokens, but will allow you to hide items in the Fog. If you end up trying out a Plus or Pro account you can also look into using our API to automate something like this for you - for example here is a thread from our mod The Aaron that allows you to import paths for dynamic lighting.
