The land of Ilad is in an uneasy peace. The loose collection of islands is home to many races and cultures. Trade is critical to survival in many places, and alliances can be made or broken on a single word.
Peace is wonderful, but there are rumblings and rumors... something may be coming, something big.
But such musings are for another time. Now is a time for celebration! The king's astronomer has predicted an amazing event, a solar eclipse will occur in 3 days. The residents here on Snowdown Isle are preparing for a grand festival, and you don't want to miss it.
Here in The Open Casque Bar things are beginning to warm up...
This will be a 4E campaign that will play for as long as I can keep some players interested. The campaign will feature combat and skill challenges in spades. Dungeon crawls, heists, role-playing encounters and battles with gigantic fire-breathing monstrosities. Role-playing is expected and I hope I can give you enough fodder for some good characters. I don't do voices, but I do 1st person for NPCs. I expect some ham from my players as well.
My timezone is GMT -4. Evening games are best for me but I am pretty flexible. I can make just about any day free, but it seems like Wednesdays will be taken up with other stuff so they're out.
I would love to start playing by next week. But I am a patient man, I can wait a bit longer if I have to.
The setting is a home-brew set of island nations named Ilad. The islands are divided mostly among racial lines, with some mixing here and there. The Humans are in the East, with Dwarven and Halfling friends here and there. The Elves and Eladrin are in the middle, with a few gnomes and pixies mixed in. To the west are dragonborn, orcs, trolls, and a few others. Any other races you will just have to discover for yourselves.
The game will be run using the inherent bonus system (dmg2 p.138), so magic items will be a rare and wonderful treat. Characters will start at level 1 with the standard 22 points and 100G for equipment. No restrictions on race or class, just make sure you have a good back story if you are something...odd. Also, the Enchant Magic Item ritual has been moved to a much higher level, and has some new rules.
I would prefer if the players had voice capabilities. I have voice, and if you must be subject to my dulcet tones then I must be subjected to your mellifluous intonations. Also, I have no use for bailers and no-shows.
I'm a relatively new DM, and this is my first foray with a home-brew campaign setting. I've played lots of 4e, and I am quite confident with the system. You can trust that whatever evening/afternoon we put aside to play, you will have my full attention. Unless my house is on fire.
