Player LFG - Any system - GMT+1

December 04 (9 years ago)
Hello, My name is Rick. I am 25 years old and I am from the Netherlands. A few years ago I played my first P&P game here on roll20, D&D 4e. I played this for a few months with a fun group and I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing the game with them. Sadly this group is no longer playing any more so I am looking for a new group of people who can suffer my presence.

So, I am hoping to find a relaxed group here for weekly games. I don't have any real preference on a system, I only have real experience with one and what kind of system/rules are used is not what is important to me anyway. As I said I live in the Netherlands so my time-zone will be GMT+1, I am fairly flexible when it comes to what time a game is played but I would preferably have something in the evenings.

Hey Rick :)

I'm from Belgium myself and made another post in this subforum. We might be able to find a group we can both join. We should keep in touch and see what comes :)

Hey Toon,

Sounds good to me. Perhaps we can slowly build up a group and then press-gang somebody into being the dm.

Hi Rick and Toon,

I am Lucas from the Netherlands and am 26. I have been playing RPGs since I was 20 and am willing to GM for you. Before I do so, I have a few questions for you:
What gaming style are you looking for? combat-heavy? narrative-focused? character-driven? realistic? cinimatic?
Many groups on roll20 are disbanded after one or two sessions. Do you have commitment issues?
Could we speak Dutch?

Hello Lucas,

I imagine I would be fine with nearly any kind of style. I personally like a good mix of roleplay and combat, probably roleplay more then combat by my experience but that might just be because D&D 4e combat could drag on a little bit and we never really got very high level. I probably would like a focus on realism less though but I feel even that could be fun if handled well.
As for commitment issues, no problem here. Played once and often even twice a week with the previous group and that went fine for months. The group really only split up due to drama from two members.
I am fine with either speaking Dutch or English.

Excited by your offer Lucas! Hope we can make something happen.

Hi Rick and Toon,

So my GM-style is as follows: I like to focus on roleplay, on the ´bigger picture´ behind the action. As a result, I do not pay that much attention to the small stuff e.g. you can just say that you found a small common item in your room instead of going out and wasting time buying it. I am more interested in actions regarding plot. Although I am free in what you can do, I am fairly railroady. If there is a plot, it is often predetermined what will happen. I do not like combat that much and typically only have one combat encounter per 4 hour session, depending on how the players handle it.

Do you have a particular genre you have in mind? Personally I am a little burned out on the whole medieval fantasy genre.

Sounds like a good GM-style to me, I don't mind having some railroading. Keeps things focused. Somebody in my previous group tried a extremely player-driven game and that didn't always work out wonderfully.

As for genre, hmm. I would probably be fine with anything, I personally like steampunk-ish and high magic settings. A few days ago I was contemplating whether I should try my hand at GMing myself just to get a group going and the setting that I had in my mind for that was that the players would be a group of air-pirates. The world would consist out of mostly sky with floating/flying islands with of course airships as choice of transport. It is a setting I personally like (Woo, airships!) but I would really be fine with anything.

What kind of system did you have in mind btw? D&D 5e? Pathfinder? And how many players?
Hi,

I was thinking of a more sci-fi game, as I and toon am a avid fan of that genre. Seeing you like magic and steam punk I would like to suggest shadowrun 5th, a cyberpunk setting with magic. Ideally I would like 3-4 players.
