Character Default Icons...

I love the addition of default icons on the character, it saves a lot of copying and pasting characters all over the place. The only issue I am having is it seems that if the characters change the stats n one map (say hit points) it does not carry over. So map 1 I drop all the characters n the map, battle commences, foes are vanquished but the party take damage or uses special abilities. Story continues....nest battle... when I pull the icons down from the character they are all back to full.   So in essence I have to copy them again. Also it seem is the character makes any changes to the icon the I have to save it again or they get lost. Am I doing something wrong? or is this how it works?

Do you mean characters or tokens? Are the tokens linked correctly?

The token that is defaulted in the sheet is a static snapshot of the token when you set it. In other words the token on the sheet does not update as the session happens.  Example: You could take 10 points of damage during a session and on the token in the current map reflects that but switch to another map and drag the defaulted token onto the map from the sheet and it will be exactly the same as it was when you made it the default. This is how I understand it but as I find out stuff I realize how wrong I am at times so a mod will drop by to post the correct info if I'm wrong.

It does if the bars are linked to the character sheet.
I've found that the sequence should be as follows: 1. Create character sheet in journal 2. Create icon on map 3. Set icon on map to represent journal character 4. Set bars and information on icon to match character 5. Select icon on map 6. Set character sheet to use icon as default this series of steps does appear to properly update information from map to map, in my experience.

That is great to hear.
Hmmm we played around with it and were unable to get it to do that. So do you copy the icon from map to map? or do you just pull another one off the character bar when you get t the new map?

Craig Steinhoff,  in order to have the token 'update' then you need to link the tokens bars to character sheet attributes before you set the token as default.  Amending and restating Phnord's sequence:  1. Create character sheet in journal 2. Add attributes to character sheet. Include attributes for the token bars such as hitpoints. (Save sheet) 3. Create a token on the map. 4. Set token's "Represents Character" field to the desired character sheet.  5. Set each of the bars dropdown menu to the corresponding character sheet attributes. Save token 6. Select token 7. Set character sheet to use token as default and save character sheet. - Gauss
I've also found that if you keep a separate page where you store all the default tokens, you're less prone to overwriting/accidentally deleting/otherwise corrupting the default tokens.
I did get it to work now. Not sure why it did not work before but is now :) must have something out of order. Thank you
