Date: 20th Harvester 609 CY Attendance: Wulrakas, Cat, Daron. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recap: Cat stalks the men who have captured his friends; he sees that they're all taken into a small building in the eastern side of the hamlet. Opting against charging in, given his weakened state, the bardic feline rests for an hour. During this time the sky above begins to change. The fog lifts long enough to reveal the stars above, which seem to visibly twinkle. Within minutes the stars proceed to pulsate , like the beating of a heart. The townsfolk emerge from their homes in a daze, staring up at the spectacle above. In a dark basement of one of the homes, Darron and Wulrakas awaken in a small jail cell. Their items have been taken -- including their clothes and weaponry. Darron manages to find a loose brick in the nearby wall, which he uses the smash open the chipped padlock on the cell door. They exit just as several of Cat's minions descend the nearby staircase, working in a phalanx formation not typical of simple minded felines. Wulrakas manages to free an unconscious Virgil from the adjacent cell, breaking the door in the process. Along with a nearby torch he uses this dislodged cell door as a makeshift weapon. After looking through keyholes to see what they're up against, Wulrakas charges the southern room. Inside a robed man works at the eviscerated corpse of some poor soul, while Alena hangs from the ceiling by a rope wound around her wrists. Wulrakas trips mid-stride, unfortunately, dropping his door-weapon in the process. He eventually manages to get up and snatch a nearby shortsword, which he uses to decapitate the torturer. Darron gets the other door, using a torch to wail on the Warden inside. The cats assist as well, but do little in the grand scheme of things. Wulrakas eventually assists by giving Darron a mace he's found. The Warden is later gutted. The room is searched and Alena is released. Carrying their unconscious friends on their backs, the party returns to Crow Town. They find little answers from the backwoods townsfolk; most of the information pertains to a ritual that will end everything. With little time to spare (or so they assume), the group begins their trek east after learning that this is where the ritual is taking place. They loot the Mayor's home for healing potions before leaving. Outside the hamlet's gates they discover a man in the shadowy recesses of a dead tree. It's later revealed to be Elmer Jud, the bandit that accompanied them on the road to Crow Town. Seeing them in dire straits, he considers cutting them down and stealing their belongings. Darron manages to talk him out of it given the world's impending doom, and Elmer tells them to follow him to a glade he found nearby. There they see the female dragon they fought outside of Crow Town's gates. Dialogue is exchanged between her and Woolie, and she tells of a force they carried with them that caused her to attack earlier. She also reveals that the glade itself is magical, and that time flows differently there. They wash themselves in a nearby pond, which rejuvinates their weakened bodies. With Elmer and the dragon now on their side, ready to lead them to the site of the ritual, the party readies themselves for what may prove to be their most important battle... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Experience: Alena – 0 XP (82,650 XP total) Wulrakas - 7,000 XP (147,750 XP total) Virgil - 10,000 XP (118,850 XP total) Cat - 7,000 XP (131,500 XP total) Daron - 20,000 XP (97,500 XP total) LEVEL UP 11 Inspiration - With everyone else uncertain of the future, only Darron has inspiration now, after successfully convincing an enemy to become an ally. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Loot: Some gems and a painting, some golds, you know... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Notes: So, first voice sesh. It's pretty fitting because the Greyhawk itself is experiencing a strange, world-changing event, so the campaign itself is changing as well. Positives: much more got accomplished in the four hours we played. combat was much more seamless. Negatives: i can't into dialogue and descriptiveness took a hit. writing just comes easier to me. Positive and Negative: The memes were off the charts. We'll do some tweaking in the coming weeks, maybe do a combination of both voice and text.
