I'm glad to have you guys aboard! I think this should be a lot of fun and probably a totally unique experience. Anyhow .. I thought I would share that I a have been gaming since I was a kid and used to sneak in to the big kid room where they played 1st edition D&D. I was hooked. I started my own advanced D&D setting and played with my high school friends a lot. My parents swore I was in a cult. One of my items was recently published in a module called daughters of fury so I get to brag I am officially a contributor to paizo content! woot! I run a WOTR homegame and play in IG and Kingmaker currently and run a roll20 reign of winter online. I am a VL for PFS in my area. I have wanted to do something a little different like this for a while so I hope it works really well!
Im so excited to be playing with and learning with such an experienced player, I look forward to it!
nice resume.
It's reassuring to know that the person running this is experanced. Looking forward to trying this new system out.
Great, will start later today.
It is always good to know that your gm has experience. Many have ended a campaign after session one since they did not know what they were getting into.

Yes, very... especially for someone totally and utterly new to Pathfinder.
This seems like the best place to ask, so what is everyone playing? I want to build something needed and fitting.

Half-Elf ranger archer build,. What're you wanting to play moreso? At this point we have a good slew of characters, so any specialty would probably be prettygood. As far as I know there is only 1 full time magic user but don't take my word for it (seems like some magic users and any technical classes would be pretty good at this point, especially for civilization building)
Oni Heritage Tiefling Pathwalker Meditant Psychic Warrior/Aegis
I'd say build whatever motivates you the most! Keeps you wanting more ^^ If you want to know, it's still in progress, but I'm building a necromancy cleric with a twist. And yes, that means you'll have yourselves a brand new funerary services shack in the new world!!... Just in case, of course...

I'm playing a tengu eagle shaman (druid).
I have a half-orc wizard on conjuration and crafting going. I have plans for one specific prestige class later
Working on a human fighter weapon smith, engineer, and soldier. He wants to avoid meeting the Lady of the graves before proving himself.
What are people's thoughts on how to play the first few days of downtime? I've thought about building a component for the inn to get a taste of its special quest, plus getting a latrine built quickly would be really nice; however it would also be good to go and explore some hexes right off, both so I can be a legit "guide" who knows the lay of the land, and so that I could craft maps to sell.
i have an elf rogue with a bow and a rapier. but it's a rapier with the sheith of holding
I decided to play a tiefling Occultist. I hope I can figure out the new mechanics before I die a horrible death!
I'm a bartender so I intend on at least building the bar portion of that Inn first. Gotta make a living.
I was actually thinking of contributing one of the rooms as well. Since being a "doctor" has limited uses in a world where healing exists. Everyone will just go to a church. But in a tavern... maybe a doctor would be needed. I was considering contributing the Lodging or Bedroom and doubling that as a clinic for people who get the snot beat out of them downstairs, or people who are in need of medical treatment and can't make it to a church.
So... I'm thinking of playing an Esoteric (magus archetype), but I wasn't sure what it meant when I saw "no Mythic stuff". Is Mythic a Paizo series or a third party thing?

Mythic is a paizo thing, from an options book Mythic adventures. It gives you lots more power and assumes you will be fighting more powerful creatures as well. Estoreric is an archetype for occult adventures which should be fine. edit: I was ninjaed while editing ;)
Good, I think I'm safe from that! Thanks.
"Mythic Adventures" is a Paizo book that basically allows the PCs to become superpowered, with a secondary leveling system from 1 to 10. "No Mythic Stuff" just means nothing from that particular book, so an Esoteric should be fine as its from Occult Adventures, which I believe is allowed.
Hello Somewhat late to this place, due to unforseen RL troubles. I'll be mostly gone tomorrow as well, hope I don't get kicked for not making a character ASAP. I already have most of the numbers run through, so how good would a WildShadow be? Mostly scouting/exploring focused for now. Or should I concentrate on an oracle or something, to fill the nieches? From some of the logs, it sounds like scouts are pretty plentiful...
Scouts a pretty plentiful, sure, but when your game is exploration of a new land, scouts can never be too abundant.
I have an idea in my head, but I'm still considering the best way to make it function. The character is of royal blood (a largely insignificant footnote, given the distance from her home) who is traveling to the island as an ambassador (and to seek adventure without her mother's guards hovering over her). She's been schooled in a number of subjects, including training in combat (light, finesse weapons) and magic (wizardly spells), so she's something of a jack of all trades. I've been considering the best way to accomplish this... The first option is simply to multiclass her early on, probably some form of wizard with unchained rogue. I'd rather stick to as close to a single class option as possible, though. The second is to go straight wizard from the start, but get creative with archetypes, feats, skills and traits to fill some of the nonmagical gaps. I could maybe prestige into loremaster, but this again brings up the problem of diminishing returns with multiclassing. Plus, loremaster wasn't changed significantly from its previous incarnation in 3.5, while Pathfinder has strengthened up most of the other classes. Switching from wizard to loremaster just doesn't have the benefit. A third option would be to go unchained rogue, and seeing if the Hedge Wizard archetype (from Rogue Genius) would be allowed. This would give the character a smattering of wizard magic, though would obviously pale in comparison to the wizard builds. I would also have to drop five levels of sneak attack (1, 5, 9, 13, 17) and all of the trap sense (or danger sense, actually) abilities. Similar to choice three, the fourth option would be to go bard, but using archetypes to get rid of both bardic performance and bardic spellsinging. This would again require the use of the Hedge Wizard archetype, as well as at least one other archetype of some form. Those are the ideas that I've come up with so far. If anyone can think of a more elegant way to accomplish the general idea that I'm looking for, feel free to let me know.

Though I myself am not the biggest fan of the class, you could try looking at the magus. Given your research I'm sure you've already looked at the class, but basically in essence he is a casting swordsman. So a combat caster has certain drawbacks since you take a bunch of penalties of casting in combat and in order to remedy that you need to take a bunch of feats. But the magus has features like spell-strike and spell combat that help remedy this. That sounds like it would fit. One drawback is that you can only fight using one hand as the other must be used for spells, but this actually works well with your character as you want to use light finesseable weapons. If that doesn't fit, try checking some of the archetypes for Magus, I don't know all of them, but if you don't like a features it is easy to find an archetypes without it. http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/magus
are you looking for something like the beguilder? https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6bKY5cuGjh9VFA1O...
I looked at Magus, but ultimately decided that it was a bit too focused on combat for what I envision. The character should be a mixed bag of social (diplomacy, perform, etc.), magic (mostly evocation, transmutation and probably illusion, with little to no enchantment or necromancy; a large number of her spells would be purely for personal entertainment, and she would cast Prestidigitation and other cantrips frivolously) and combat (Dexterity, light weapons and acrobatics). I could take another look at the archetypes to see what tweaks could be done, though. Other than that, the biggest thing for me is the limitation to the magus spell list, and I doubt if any archetype will change that. Definitely not a beguiler. That's a spontaneous spellcaster.
Megan, post the Hedge Wizard in Allowable Materials so that it can be looked at by the GMs.
Alright.
why do you need the hedge wizard archetype? you could just take the major and minor magic rogue talents.. thouhg i guess that's the same problem as the magus
name said: why do you need the hedge wizard archetype? you could just take the major and minor magic rogue talents.. thouhg i guess that's the same problem as the magus Minor and major magic only gives you access to a single spell of either 0 or 1 level, respectively, and is cast as a spell-like ability. There is no spellbook involved. Plus, Hedge Wizard gives you the potential of getting up to level 4 spells when you're high enough.

What you need is arcane trickster to be an archetype and not a prestige class http://paizo.com/products/btpy9771?Prestige-Archet... Prestige Archetype
Actually, I would say that if Loremaster were an archetype and not a prestige class, that would be ideal.

There is a new archetype for rogue coming out this month that has spellcasting. In arcane anthology called Eldritch Scoundrel, it has some spell use and can use spells as ki points somehow. I don't have the book and it isnt out to non subscribers until sometime next week not on the pfsrd for about a month or two.

Are there any other weapon crafters on the island? I just got a request and it will take me 152 days to complete. It doesnt seem worth it and I hope I am missing something. Or if someone has a better bonus making it more worth while, so I can make a recommendation. A master work martial item is DC 20 and gains 4 gp per success. I cannot beat that DC by 5 or more yet, so one MW item takes me 76 days? To make a MW weapon in one week, i need about +35?!
Let me have ian look into it Ben.
Send them to talk with Rodger at Fizzy Pops. Or go talk to him yourself and I'm sure a finders fee can be worked out. ;) But, yeah, crafting is tough unless you are fully spec'ed for it. The NPCs help since they can be a couple levels higher than their CR giving them a few extra feats and skill points.
How does this feat apply to our crafting? Cooperative crafting

if I'm reading this right, you make one check, add everything up, add 2, then double the gp done. Say you've got 2 people with craft (armor), and they go make something. The more skilled one will be making the armor, with the lower one giving him assistance. You roll say 20, which would be 4gp progress, but you double that cos of the feat, so 8gp progress. Or, say you roll a 30 altogether, but the check is only 20, so you'd be making 12gp progress, but with this, you make 24. Keep in mind that the bugger giving the bonus can't craft after that. His contribution is the extra gp you're getting. P.S.: I'm not a GM, just my interpretation.

Yeah I'm thinking that might be it. But it's oddly worded to me, value instead of progress..could be different crafting rukes. If multiple helpers are allowed (forge) I guess you only multiply the base progress. Example, Check creates 8gp so you instead have 24 gp with two cooperative craftsman assistants (not 32).
Updates and Explanations about Crafting coming up this weekend.
Is there a way to add elemental damage to an attack on the character sheet? Like a flaming weapon? My initial internet search was confusing. [this is for a beastiary entry]
yes add it to attack notes, in brackets like this : [[1d6]] acid damage

Didn't want to make a new thread, so I hope enough of you see this! The poll only ends when I need to make a new character. Whether it's my second slot or I die or whatever.
Okay, condenses the poll to the 3 most popular options (plus combined 2 options to 1) but now everyone has to re-vote! VOTE AGAIN BECAUSE I'M NEEDY!
