Dice sucsess checks (Help)

OK, not sure in this is in the right place but, here goes. So, I'm trying a new game with some friends and the game system using dice rolls in a why I've not seen before (to my knowledge). So, e.g. James is carrying an SMG and fires at target A. To hit, he needs an 8, he rolls a dice for every shot the SMG makes and any 8's is a hit. So he rolls 3 d10s and adds his ranged combat level to each dice, any 8's are a hit. He rolls a 9,7 and 5. With his ranged combat at 2, this makes the scores 11, 9, and 7. Now, how would i macro a dice roll to roll more then one dice and add a number to each dice? instead of having him roll every shot manually? as some weapons can fire 8-10 times.
Since the actual sum of the dice rolls doesn't seem to matter (just how many 8s you get), you would likely use InLine rolls to roll each dice separately. ie: for an SMG with three shots you might see something like: SMG! [[1d10 + 2]] • [[1d10 + 2]] • [[1d10 + 2 ]]

could make a drop down menu with option on how many shots are you taking? then each answer would be an inline roll like Mark G shows. 1 = 1 roll, 2 = 2 rolls, etc

could also do it with power cards (I see you are Pro) and have it always roll 10 times (as example) but only show the number of results you select when targeting.

I'd recommend [[ {?{Shots fired|1}d10scs>[[8 - @{rangedcombat}]] + @{rangedcombat} [Ranged Combat]}>8 ]] hits or /r {?{Shots fired|1}d10scs>[[8 - @{rangedcombat}]] + [[@{rangedcombat} [Ranged Combat]]]}>8 Check out: Target Number / Successes on the Roll20 Wiki .

easy way, bah!
Are your SMG's hitting only on 8s    or anything 8 AND HIGHER? I took your post to mean only hitting on 8s.  Silvyre's more elegant method assumes an 8 OR HIGHER counts as a hit, and that you have your RANGEDCOMBAT value stored as an attribute on the character's journal.

Hm, if only 8's are successes I'd recommend [[ {?{Shots fired|1}d10scs[[8 - @{rangedcombat}]] + @{rangedcombat} [Ranged Combat]}=8 ]] hit(s) or /r {?{Shots fired|1}d10scs[[8 - @{rangedcombat}]] + [[@{rangedcombat} [Ranged Combat]]]}=8
8+ hits, sorry

infact, any check in this game runs on matching or beating 8. Sorry, i'm no coder or anything, only just learned HTML.

Mark G. said: have your RANGEDCOMBAT value stored as an attribute on the character's journal. Also, assumes the macro would be saved an Ability . If not, you'd use @{selected|rangedcombat} or @{target|rangedcombat} instead.
Sorted, one of my players surgested we use a forula like this: /r 6d12>8 This seems to work. as we just ajust it to suit any alterations. I.E. the 8 becomes 7 if someone has a +1 to that roll. Thanks all for the help and it has helped me learn a few new tricks and uses.
