Last Session

I don't remember any rulesing... I was most surprised by Cassian's aggressiveness. He must really want us dead!
There was all the counterspell arguing for starters.
Rob said: I was most surprised by Cassian's aggressiveness. He must really want us dead! You do remember the part where he said, Cassian is a prisoner on another plane? Cassian-demon was an imposter, if that wasn't clear :P
Did he actually say that? I thought he said we would never see cassian again.
Marco G. said: Did he actually say that? I thought he said we would never see cassian again. I recall this statement. I don't think he said anything about being on another plane....But it's also been 2 weeks. Marco G. said: There was all the counterspell arguing for starters. I think a little lawyering is fine to make sure everyone is on the same page. If it starts affecting the game too much we should just house-rule something for the occasion and then determine the finality of the rule between sessions. Speaking of which... Counterspell: .. .lf it is casting a spell of 4th leveI or higher, make an ability check using your spellcasting ability. The DC is..... An ability check (PHB 174) is a d20+ a relevant stat modifier. For wizards, their spellcasting ability (note that this is NOT a spell attack modifier ) is Intelligence (PHB 114). Thus, the quoted statementis asking you to make an ability check with INT (aka d20+4). There is no mention of proficiency bonuses within the Ability Check section until Skills. Additionally Abjuration Wizards gets Improved Abjuration at level 10(PHB 115) : . ..you to make an ability check as a part of casting that spell (as in counterspell and dispel magic), you add your proficiency bonus to that ability check. Thus we can conclude that if a Wizard does not have Improved Abjuration, they should not be adding their prof bonus to counterspell/dispel magic rolls.
I'd like to hear your thoughts/reactions/reflections from last session. I thought it was one of the better sessions in awhile, and really refreshing, I think there was a little something for everyone. I also think that I liked the play time. The 5:15-8PST with no break seemed to flow well. I'm going to institute that as the new norm. Please share your fav moment from last session and what you think awaits you with Mezzy and the infinite stairs....
The session did flow well, and it didn't even feel like it was shorter. With that being said, I would still like to keep the normal time if everyone else would as well. 2 hours and 45 minutes is too short a time to spend with such excellent and admirable hobbits as yourselves. As for the story content, I think that there was a definite climate shift in the entire campaign. For the first time, we actually had free reign to go where we wished, and that definitely gave me the feeling that there was a literal world waiting for me to explore. I imagine Rob has the same feeling I get when I look at the map in my campaign and can't wait until my players get to the Caverns of Tenebrous Wyrms, or explore the Moor of Black Thunder inside the Kingdom of the Sundered Rebels.
I feel like 2h45-3h is a bit too short. In our 4h sessions, we usually spend 1-1.5h on roleplaying and 2.5-3h on a single encounter. If we change to a 3h session, it would highly unlikely for us to ever start and finish a single encounter. The fight we just had and any other BBEG encounter would most likely take two entire (combat only) sessions to complete. I'm all for combat but spending an entire month on a big encounter is too much. I also like having a break in between :) DM Rob said: ...you think awaits you with Mezzy and the infinite stairs.... Walking....Lots and lots of walking...
Just about an hour to go!
Sooooooooooooooo about last session... We got a +3 shield! And we almost had a wand of magic missile, if our rogue had been a little luckier.
LEGIT!!
You THIEVES!!!! Go ahead, pull that shield out and try to use it ... MWAHAHAHA
Darrak isn't the brightest. If the shit hits the fan, he probably would. lol
So are we gonna have a session today? There was some confusion last session what with any holiday travel people might have.
I thought we settled on 'yes', but I am free either way.
I'm game so you bastards better show hehe
Guys, I'm sorry about missing again last night. Work hasn't been the kindest to me scheduling wise lately, and it's not like I can tell my Command Sergeants Major to go fuck himself because I'm playing D&D. I really like our sessions, but it's been a pain being available lately. I just wanted to be sure to apologize for missing them.
Brock, we missed you the last two sessions. I understand schedules get in the way. Will u be able to make it next time? Darrak took a session-long ale break on the first floor of the castle.
Yes, as far as I know I should be off by 530 at the latest that sunday. So I should be able to make it finally.
Who thinks they know what's going to happen next? What scares you the most about your current adventure? What is the most promising thing? What do you think about the rod of seven parts, the books of keeping, the 5 pillar keys to bring back the Blind God?
Darrak has no idea what's happening next. He's been too busy on his two session long ale break... lol
This looks familiar
Yep... lol... But Darrak needs his ale skin out. He would be drinking while he waited. ;)
LMAO, Where did you get this? That is awesome.
Its from a Manga, Dungeon Meal , http://bato.to/comic/_/comics/dungeon-meshi-r13871
Yeah that is great!
Are we all on for Sunday? Related, my wife broke her finger and needs a little help with the kid, so I will have to step away for maybe 15 minutes about an hour after the game starts, to put him to bed.
I'm set. I thought I might not be able to make it cause I went out of town to my sisters place, but we came back the next day. I'm good.
I'm also ready for Sunday. I do all my partying beforehand.
Can we change the start time to 2:30-530PM Eastern? I forgot that times would be different. Please confirm!
I am ok with that time.
I am also okay with this time.
DM Rob: Yes Tam: Yes Trace: Unanswered Brock: Unanswered Marco: Unanswered Rob: Yes C'mon guys! Please Confirm.
2:30 EST - 5:30 EST? A start time difference of 5 hours? You meant eastern? That cuts my day in half and I'm not sure I can settle down for a game that early in the day. If that is the correct time I'll try for it.
Because I have yet to hear from Brock and Trace is questionable I will actually move this back to the regular scheduled time. Unless Brock can confirm soon we will go with the regular time of: 7:15pm-10:15pm Eastern I don't want anyone to have to miss such a big fight. So no changes here, see you guys then (unless we miraculously hear from Brock soon)
REGULAR TIME.
KK
Sounds good. And I was the OG Rob, whatchu talking bout?
