I have been trying to find a game for about a month and a half straight but finding a Game Master that is both willing to take players that don't know anything AND having open slots AND in the right timezone AND flexible with new players (meaning simply telling them how and what to make) is one of the most difficult challenges on Roll20. So, if there is interest, I am willing to struggle through being a game master for a group of other complete noobs. Ideally you would have: - Never played a tabletop RPG and/or only played one or two sessions. - Be available Fridays after 5:30 PM EST and all day Saturdays. - Be willing to have a good attitude and a great time. I am looking for those people that are having as difficult a time as me finding a way to enjoy tabletop RPGs without having years of experience already. Ideally I would struggle us through a couple weeks of character creation, discussion, and a campaign and then pass it off to another player to try their hand at game mastering. We would all have to agree on what sort of discretionary powers the game master has. Because we would all be new, the players and game masters would eventually mess something up. We would need a way to decide what happens but if there is arguing IN ANY FORM I will maintain kick authority for the group. If this sounds like a terrible idea, then let me know. I will gladly take any sort of constructive criticism. If this sounds like something you are interested in then please reply on here or message me with the following: - What game you want to play - Your experience with tabletop RPGs / Roll20 - Your favorite video game RPG - If you are willing to purchase gaming material - What you expect from a game master - What you would try to achieve as a game master - A little something about who you are Here is my "application": - What game you want to play - D&D 5E would be ideal. but I am open to anything. - Your experience with tabletop RPGs / Roll20 I have played about 4 games of pathfinder in my life. With other people that had never played any sort of tabletop RPG. They were also just not fun people to be around. And it was an hour commute one way to play. All in all, the people I was with made it a not-so-great experience. I have fiddled around with roll20 and have some ideas on how to make it a fun GM experience. But I am very new to the system. - Your favorite video game RPG - This is such a tough question for me. Final Fantasy VII is very near and dear to my heart. But I would have to say my current favorite is Witcher 3. - If you are willing to purchase gaming material - Most definitely. - What you expect from a game master - A GM should be a sort of guiding hand. Not a dictator. I expect the GM to keep the game interesting and keep the payers engaged, in character, and the game balanced, while offering a good mix of combat and non-combat scenarios. The GM should be the world-builder while the players are the storytellers. - What you would try to achieve as a game master - I just want my players to have a good time. I want the players to walk away from the game saying "wow. That was really fun, and those are some cool people. I can't wait to see what happens next week." - A little something about who you are - My real passion is to be a game designer, so I hope to be a game master that brings people together for a great experience... some day. You have to start somewhere right? I am 23yr old Male with a passion for gaming, game development, and programming. I am working on a degree in Computer Science while working full time and listen to mostly electronic music (dubstep, chillstep, house, etc.) with some classical orchestra every now and then. I am outgoing but mostly stay inside. Anything else you need to know, just ask. And may the force be with you. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Edit 1: Thanks so much for all the interest everyone! I have PM'd those that I feel could be a good fit for this sort of thing and currently am trying to organize a game with some people. Thanks a bunch for the GM's that offered to help! If I have not PM'd you, I apologize. The reason I made such a lengthy post and had you answer all those questions was so I could see who was really vested in this. I am trying to get a feel for if you really are willing to commit or are playing the numbers game. Anyone else that wants to apply feel free to do so! Just know, I am taking every bit of your response into account and I will be inspecting your profile and such to see if you will be a good fit. Hope everyone had a great new year! Lets make 2016 great! Edit 2: The time has been decided. We will meet Saturdays at 1330 0130 GMT. That would be 1730 PST, 2030 EST, and 1230 in the afternoon for you Australia folk.
