Pathfinder, DM/Player, CST

So, here's the deal. I've been involved with RPGs for more years than I care to admit, mainly with D&D, going all the way back to the old blue cover basic set. So while I have quite a bit of experience gaming, what I don't yet have is an equal level of experience in here using Roll20. However, I've spent time going over things from a few different perspectives and I'm very impressed with the platform and the every-growing community surrounding it. What I'm looking for is a group of players interested in setting up a very long term, ongoing campaign. I'm inclined to use the Pathfinder system, although I'm open to some other incarnation of D&D, as long as we can all agree (except 4E, don't get me started on that...lol). I'm open to either being a player or I can DM, although as I mentioned, I'm not totally familiar with everything here yet and will need time to become acquainted with everything more in depth. I have commercial material spanning back all of those years and have a couple of PF APs as well, spanning however many different settings. I tend to mix commercial and personal material to mix things up, but I'm getting ahead of myself here... What I'm really hoping to build here is a cohesive, collaborative group. I know this takes time and the players need to have the same sort of mindset when it comes to the type of game being run, but that's the overall goal.  So basically I'm a Roll20 relative newbie, but with plenty of RPG experience, so I'm posting here to see who's interested in helping me getting a game going. With that in mind, post your constructive thoughts/opinions here and we can see what we can get going!
I'll give a warning that dedication is quite a hared thing to really have. There is a good expectation people will drop out or lose interest and as such, just don't let it get you down. More often then not you can usually find dedicated individuals to fill the slots if you go searching once again. As far as systems go, Pathfinder is very popular here, a lot of the 3.5 people having moved over to it, though you do see games that do solely 3.5 or mix in 3.5 elements into pathfinder. A pure Pathfinder game would probably be your best bet, just for a more consistant play field, just adding in things from 3.5 if you ever do want to mix anything in case by case. As far as DMing goes, its really not that difficult. Start basic and as you play you will learn many different fun tips and tricks to better get use to the system. People will typically not have a problem with more simplistic displays of the board, using it more as a reference. I found playing around with it on my own really helped a lot in getting use to the tools and figuring things out. A quick 'play' session could always help to further figuring things out.
Hey, thanks for the tips Purutzil! As for player reliability, I'm very familiar with that aspect of virtual tabletop gaming, I have experience with another platform where that's a constant issue. I'm hoping that this isn't as prevalent here on Roll20, but that remains to be seen. I attribute a lot of that to the style of the game being played...players want to be in a type of game that interests them, whether that's a dungeon crawl, hack-n-slash, heavy RPing, mystery, horror, etc. Thanks again for the info, much appreciated!
Ronald, I'd certainly be interested in joining the group, but I have to admit that I'm a relatively new DnD player looking to learn Pathfinder. There seems to be a lot of newbies on the Roll 20 forums, with a lot of animosity directed towards us, so I understand if you're looking to play with a more veteran group.  Otherwise, I have Skype/Mic and the ability to use Roll20 in EST. I'd like to think of myself as a quick learner, and I'm pretty enthusiastic about getting into the DnD/RP universe thanks to my multiple year affair with the ASOIAF books/show (if that helps you gage my potential game interest). Beyond that, I'll wait for more information from you/other interest in this thread.

Xeno, thanks for posting your interest. I don't have an issue with teaching new players at all, there are instances when I prefer it actually. I tend to avoid "rules lawyers" and those who take the attitude that teaching others isn't worth their time. My overall goal, in any game, is to ensure that everyone is having fun and I almost always focus on the storytelling aspect of the game over pure rules interpretation. I don't have anything against others that focus heavily on the rules themselves, that's just their preferred style of gaming and that's fine. I just lean the other direction.
I'm very interested in joining as a player. I've been hoping to get into a long-term game for quite some time now, and while I haven't had a chance to learn Pathfinder I'd love to give it a shot. It sounds like your GM style is pretty much in line with the type of game I'd want to play in too.
I am interested to join as a player and have no problem with any style of play. I have plenty of 3.5 experience (tabletop) and I currently own and am reading the PF books (core/combat/spells/ect) I am not used to however playing on virtual tabletop so that is new to me but it does not seem that hard and I'm willing to learn anything new to make my experience better. any idea on the times and days of the week you prefer to play?
I'm interested in playing myself. Plenty of 3.5 and pathfinder exprience here.

I'd be interested in playing. I have a decent amount of experience with both 3.5 and PF and have DM'd and played both systems. I've been running a high-power gestalt game of 3.P (PF + 3.5 material) with some friends, so I'm looking forward to being a player again! I would like to know a little more about the style of game (hack n slash, intrigue, kingdom making, villainous, etc) and the timing for the meets you're thinking of, as well as power level (point buy, gestalt, classes allowed, sourcebooks [including 3.5] allowed).
Ronald,  Like you I've been playing a long time (since white box 1.0 back in '76) but I've not been playing for a very very long time. That said, I'm getting back into it (also with the intention ...eventually... of GMing). I've chosen Pathfinder as my 'preferred' system going forward. I own the core book, beastiary I, advanced player's handbook, inner sea and several other Golarion centered APs and books, Hero Lab for pathfinder and the beginner's box set (which I ran my 11y.o. though in 7-8 hours). You might want to specify when you are interested in playing as that seems to be the major consideration but I'm definitely interested in playing. I'm currently looking to join a Pathfinder Golarion game. Rise of the Runelords would be my top choice (since I haven't cracked open any of the APs but would enjoy exploring them) and a game that would have been played Sunday afternoons just fell through as the GM decided he didn't have the time to properly run a game at this time. Even if it doesn't work out playing I'd still be interested in joining a discussion group on these topics.
I'm very interested in joining. I've played Pathfinder a couple of times but due to my DM who I played with in real life getting busy with work recently, I've been hungry for more tabletop roleplaying.
I'd be interested as a player. I have a lot of virtual DMing experience  with Traveller, Pathfinder and Savage Worlds. I never get to actually play pathfinder as a Player though, so would still like a chance. The comments made earlier about virtual games are very true. So far I've been accepted and signed up for 5 campaigns where the GM has either never turned up for the first session, or postponed the first two sessions before  cancelling (and thus never starting) the campaign. AS a DM I'd say its hard to get the right group of players for your 'style'. I'm lucky in that I started as a player in a Traveller Game (using gametable) over two years ago, and that same group of people gelled and is still going strong, and now swopping DM duties and games on a rotating basis. Whatever you choose, Good Luck!
No shortage of interest here I will throw mine out there as well and encourage Ronald to start a time type discussion so we can see what peoples actual availability is. I would love to find a group where we all become friends  and can share some GMing turns over time so no one gets to burnt out and we all get to play. At any rate I am available by 7:00 pm mountain time tues thurs fri and every other wednesday(I run a wednesday night PF group) I have many saturdays available as well but that is more hit and miss.
I'd be interested as a player if you have any more room. No experience with Roll20 but I've played pen and paper on and off for the past 8 years.
I would love to play with you all!!! I'm wanting to help code the api but am looking to play and not Dm a game. Can be available on Wednesday nights or weekends. Am in EST so ant CST works well for me. Also looking to play a skill monkey or ranged pc, DnD 3.5 works best for me but im sure pathfinder will work great too. Will you play a Point Buy start?
I have no experience playing on VTT, but have experience on PbP and pen and paper games, mostly as GM of Pathfinder (and ways back in old AD&D). I wouldn't mind running a game as GM (have several PF AP's also) but my total newbness to the format may be an issue as we work out the kinks. I am in Central US time, and evenings from 9PM to Midnight (approx) works best for me. I do travel for work some during the week, so there may have to some flexiblity around that.
I'm basically a complete newbie to non-computer game RPGs; but I've read over a lot of the OGC material for Pathfinder and I would be very interested in playing if you guys have the room and patience for someone who's never actually played before. I would prefer night-time on Fridays or Saturdays, and I should be available most of the time. I'm on Pacific Shore Time which works out pretty well.
Hello Ronald, Im interested in playing Pathfinder. I've played a lot of pen and paper RPG, but it was a long time ago. Im also completely new to the roll 20 site. However, I would really like to play Pathfinder here and, who knows, be a DM in the future. Im specially interested in Pathfinder because it reminds me of D&D 3rd edition, which was the last book I tried to play, DM. Another reason is because I just bought the Pathfinder book in order to play it here, so if I could find a game in order to use what I just bought it would be great!   Anyway, Im already waiting for another game to happen, so I will join (and dedicate myself, sort of speak) to the first game that begins (And that invites me). Just a few heads up about myself: Im 31 years old and Im currently living in Canada. I can play Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in the afternoon, but maybe in the future I might only play in the weekends. I am hoping to start a Pathfinder game soon. Let me know if you have any news. Cheers and good luck!

I am fairly new to pathfinder as in playing. I own the books in physical and pdf format.&nbsp;I do have a few characters I made for one shots and played a few which I will list below. Here is the bulletin list I guess so I do not ramble. These are the things I can offer. Experienced Roll20 player who has been a subscriber for a bit and a mentor for a month. I know most the shortcuts and can aid in setting things up. Decent map maker for games using Campaign Cartographer 3 to build dungeons, worlds, and cities to even space ships. avid roleplayer. Been roleplaying since I was 7 years old almost once every week if not more. I also went to collegefor acting and film/video. Someone who plays a female and characters completely different from the group. I usually play what the group needs or something they do not have anything near. If everyone is NG I usually wind up being either loyal good or chaotic good.&nbsp; Willing to let my character be part of the plot or trap. If you wish for someone to fall into some kind of situation to move the story forward then I am all up for it. Own over 300 different roleplaying books and probably 400 pdfs including homebrew and custom made modules. Now the things I actually was pming about was the questions. Do you have an issue with someone who wants to be a girl in real life playing a girl in your game? I know some dms get upset when you play your opposite sex. What time do you think the game would be at and on what day. Are you looking for more of late night games like 11:30pm eastern to 3am or talking more of afternoon. The night ones are much easier for me but I can make afternoons depending on my work schedule. I would love some feedback on my characters I have for pathfinder. <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=538344" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=538344</a> <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=618821" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=618821</a> &nbsp; &lt;--- I would need to reroll her for pathfinder just realized she is 4th edition.
It seems to me that there's enough interest here to run several different groups. With that said, I'd definitely like to throw my interest hat in with this as well.&nbsp; Admittedly, I have been eyeing Pathfinder for quite some time, but only recently decided to delve into the Core book so I've not yet played a game (although I've found that I'm already relatively familiar with most of the mechanics) and just found Roll20 through references on the PF Society pages (though not really looking for PFS games at this point). My RPG experience is primarily 1E and 2E D&amp;D (with a few others mixed in) and it has been quite some time since I've done pen and paper.&nbsp; I'm looking to get back into it as a hobby and would like to be able to try out a VTT like R20 for a potentially long-term game or series of games with a consistent group of open-minded, friendly and patient folks.
if any is up to DMing a short 1 time session (incase Ronald isnt available this weekend) hit me up ill play any class PF or 3.5
Okay, we obviously have a number of people interested, although we lack some overall direction that the game itself would take and a group obviously can't accommodate everyone that's posted here. So at this point, I'll outline some additional details. If anyone would like to send me a private message inquiring further or making suggestions, feel free. Game Time - I would be looking at running the game on Saturdays, starting at around 7PM CST, going for 3-4 hours per session. DM - I would be willing to DM initially, although I'm looking to share that responsibility with at least one other individual. This could either be a shared world setting of some type or each DM could run something completely separate. As I've stated, I'm new to Roll20. I have a number of the Pathfinder books and know the rules, but I'm sure it'll take us time for things to start running smoothly as everyone becomes acquainted with Roll20, the rules, and each other. Setting - I would likely use the Greyhawk setting for anything I DM. I would start with the overall basics outlined in the old boxed campaign setting from "back in the day", with a starting date of CY 576, but beyond that, everything would be highly customized and make use of both personal and commercial material. So while there is a wealth of information online about Greyhawk, you'll never really know what's out there exactly due to this customization. If enough players express interest in some other setting, I'm not averse to running that instead, afterall, my goal here is for the players to have fun and enjoy the game. I have Golarion for Pathfinder (Pathfinder Chronicles Campaign Setting book), as well as a bunch of other older settings like Dark Sun, Forgotten Realms, Planescape, Spelljammer, Dragonlance, etc. I have a couple of full APs for Pathfinder as well and even have the Shackled City. I tend to avoid running newer stuff, at least as published, because so many people buy them and know them and I'd rather players be surprised by the adventure rather than knowing what's ahead and "cheating" per se. Additional thoughts/comments/input?

I would but just got another game now from people looking. Luckily I am not dming so I just have to show up and play the few nights a week we play after work. Please note I will be unfollowing this topic to avoid clutter. If you wish to talk shoot me a pm XD.
I'd be willing to play/co-DM with you, switching DM roles if you'd like so we could both get playtime. &nbsp;

I have shifted the setting back to my own personal campaign, but it all ties into a much larger picture that I won't detail here. For a very high level overview that is more story-oriented, read the following: <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/17dlJ5wOQvT_g2ekPPMmgGLydDq7AVgLhHbLbo4tiDqk/edit?usp=sharing" rel="nofollow">https://docs.google.com/document/d/17dlJ5wOQvT_g2ekPPMmgGLydDq7AVgLhHbLbo4tiDqk/edit?usp=sharing</a> My intent here is to start by having some player collaboration on setting up the initial world by having players "assume" the role of one of the Dekyri or Sulhareen for a sort of campaign/setting creation phase. This gives everyone some stake in helping to create the initial setting, so to speak. I of course retain all of the behind-the-scenes control and overall rule over what is and isn't allowed here, but I'm fairly open with this. I should also note that the Dekyri and Sulhareen character concepts will be up to each player. Any of you familiar with Roger Zelazny's Amber series can use that as something of an idea of what I'm trying to do here, as least as far as the character interaction goes. Following that, each player would then have a "normal" PC that becomes embroiled in the world's events.&nbsp; The Dekyri and Sulhareen characters would be ever present as part of the setting backdrop and I'm hoping the players themselves would then collaborate/collude to various ends for overall setting direction. These ideas would be presented to me and I would then merge them with my overall direction for the setting. Consider me one of the&nbsp;Chéad, if you will. So, given this bit of information, anyone interested should come up with a character concept for one of the Dekyri or Sulhareen and shoot me a private message here. Again, once I've gauged interest on this concept, I'll invite players based on concepts, set up a topic, and we'll get the overall setting direction rolling. If this sounds like too much work for people, I'll just resort to a simple PF game. Thoughts/rants/concerns/other?
