Inline Macros

Not sure I am understanding the use or formula to use for Inline. Let me see if it is even possible for what I want to do. /r 1d6!+3d6?{Modifier} Is it possible if the exploding die rolls a one that is color code it in some way? Also, I do not understand how the color coding works for inline formulas. I understand there is yellow, red and something else, but no idea how to make it do it =)

Inline is color coded red for 1's, green for maximum rolls, and blue if you have rolled both.&nbsp; How to use inline:&nbsp; [[1d6!+3d6]] The ?{modifier} is Query, not inline. It will allow you to put in some value.&nbsp; Example:&nbsp; [[1d6!+3d6+?{modifier}]] This will roll a 1d6 that explodes, add that to 3d6, and then add that to whatever modifier you put in the query box. Inline wiki:&nbsp; <a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/Dice_Reference#Inline_Dice_Rolls" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/Dice_Reference#Inline_Dice_Rolls</a> - Gauss
Yes I understand that, my question is can I set the inline in a way that if the exploding die rolls a one the the sum will appear as red denoting a 1 was rolled on the exploding die?
I just setup the inline and the sums appears three times in the chat window. Wth?

Also I cannot get the /me or /em to work. In the chat window it just shows a blank at the beginning then rolls the macros, puts the sum up with a yellow box, red around the edges of the first die rolls a 1. Then the sum appears 2 more times below this. Something not working properly. The macros is set thusly: /me rolls 5d6 ... /r [[1d6!+4d6+?{Modifier}]] GRRR the red box appears if ANY of the dice roll a one. This is not what I am looking for.

rpgman2013 , the red is a notice that something rolled a minimum value. After that you hover over the inline to find out what did. That is really the only way it can work since there can be multiple dice involved.&nbsp; Regarding posting '3 times' you are telling it to roll normally with an inline element.&nbsp; Example:&nbsp; Input: /roll [[5d6]]d20+5&nbsp; Assume the inline segment rolled a 14. Output: rolling 14d20+5 (see image below for the rest) What you want is [[1d6!+4d6+?{Modifier}]] without &nbsp;the /roll command in front. Regarding the /me not working, please post a screenshot so I can see what is happening.&nbsp; Edit: Here is an image showing both types of rolls. With the inline only version the inline element is all that is rolled if the /roll command is not used. Edit2: Here is an image of your specific formula used (the modifier is '5'). - Gauss

Sorry this was an error on my side, it does appear. The game uses dice pools of which a single die is exploding. If the exploding and only the exploding die rolls a '1' then something happens. I am trying to figure out a way to do this. As it stands the macro I have been using this /r 1d6!+4d6. After rolling I look at the first number rolled and if it is a "1' then I know I have to roll on the complication table. The only two things that matter in the dice pool is: 1) the total sum of the dice and 2) if the wild die rolls a "1'. When I saw that inline would color code a minimum roll I was excited, but again it looks like this will not work for what I want to do. Suggestions on a workaround?

I also found out that the inline does NOT always show if a die has rolled its lowest value. I have successfully duplicated this on 2 dice rolls. After rolling a few times it appears that the inline will recognize lowest value rolled about half the time.

Regarding, the /me command please post a screenshot of the result and the command (hit the up arrow to show the command after getting the result, then take a screenshot).&nbsp; Regarding the exploding wild die, if you hove over the inline you will see which dice rolled what and the dice will highlight minimum and maximum rolls.&nbsp; What you could do is /roll [[1d6!]]+[[4d6]] but itll still show 3 lines of output.&nbsp; Please post a screenshot regarding the highlight not showing up if a die has rolled it's lowest value.&nbsp; - Gauss

It looks like it is working correctly. Blue is when you roll both max and min rolls. Inside the inline both the max and the min rolls were highlighted appropriately.&nbsp; Red box: one or more dice rolled minimum value. Hover to see which die rolled minimum. Green box: one or more dice rolled maximum value. Hover to see which die rolled maximum. Blue box: one or more dice rolled minimum and one or more dice rolled maximum. Hover to see which dice rolled minimum or maximum. - Gauss
Ok, question answered and thank you for holding my mildly retarded hand throughout this. It appears that inline will not work for me. It much faster to just use /r 1d6!+4d6+?{Modifier} and see immediately that the exploding die is a '1'. I love how little room it takes, but it seems clunky to see if you rolled min or max on a die pool then need to hover over the rolls to see how many of each. Looks to me as though this feature will need some robustness added to it.

rpgman2013, how would you suggest indicating which dice rolled min or max without expanding it into the full roll? I do not really think there is a way to do so and still keep it compact like it is. Compact sacrifices some extra information. But, if you come up with a suggestion for doing so please post it for Dev consideration.&nbsp; BTW, this was discussed on the Mentor forums as to how to implement this feature. Mentor's weighed in and this is the method that seemed to have the greatest support. - Gauss

Well the suggestion I would have is that inline could have a variable to denote high and low dice value and then allow multiple inlines to be threaded together. Using a variable akin to the KH1. In this case naming them LV (lowest value) and HV (highest value) and putting it at the end of the inline. If you do not put the variable at the end it would just give you a sum of the inline. For example: [[1d6!]]LV+[[4d6]] would sum the total rolls and would only put a red line around the value, if the first die pool rolled a 1. The converse if you used the variable HV. Not sure what the variable for both highest and lowest value rolled would be, but the default for the inline would just be a sum of all rolls.

So what you would like instead is control over what rolls are highlighted as min/max. That has been suggested before and would be a general dice roller change rather than for just inline rolls.&nbsp; - Gauss
Yes I would like control of what dice pool is highlighted for min/max AND the ability to stitch together multiple inlines to tie them together. Using the example above: ([[1d6!]]LV+[[4d6]]) would give a sum of all values in a single box and highlight it red only if a '1' is rolled in the first dice pool.

Stitching them together wouldnt be necessary. [[1d6!LV1HV7+4d6LV0HV7]] should work just fine using your idea for min/max designations. I am basing my redesignation of your version on the premise that it would be necessary to define all min/max in your example since you only want it to highlight a 1 on the 1d6! and no highlights for any other dice.&nbsp; Ultimately, inline is intended to be very compact but you will lose a bit for that. If you want to 'stitch together' multiple inline rolls that is what normal+inline would be for.&nbsp; - Gauss
Yup it is unfortunately too minimalist at this point for me to use it effectively for what I want. Its a shame since I like this feature, but alas, it is what it is and it will be some time if ever that it is improved upon.
maybe i misunderstood what exactly you want to show, but wouldnt /r [[1d6!]]+[[4d6+?{Modifier}]] give you the output you want? i guess that might take up a little more room than everything being purely inline, but it is still more compact than the regular roll.
yes it would but since the /r is being used it will show the sum 3 times. Also it will still show red around the edge in the second set of inline as well. What I was wanting to do was have the total sum inline and if the first inline had a '1' it would show the red outline. But you can not stitch inline macros.
