saving maps for games

Hi, I am new to Roll20 and am a gm interested in setting up an online game. I took the tutorial and had some questions: 1) How does one save the maps and other information that they have created? 2) I am attempting to recreate the 3.5 Dungeons and Dragons adventure " Expedition to Undermountain". I am wondering how best to go about this. Is there an easy way to upload the maps by scanning them to my computer? If so, will they conform easily to the grid? Or is there some other method I should use? Thank you for any assistance offered!
Hi Josh! Welcome to Roll20! 1) When you create a map in Roll20, it stays in Roll20. It cannot be copied to another system, but it can be copied between campaigns you own if you have the  Transmogrifier  (a membership benefit.) For this reason, many people like to create their maps externally, through photoshop, gimp, pyromancer, or what have you.  2) If you have a physical copy of the maps, then yes, you can easily scan them and then drag-and-drop them into the Roll20 interface for your game. Aligning those maps to the grid is a little more difficult, but can be done with  a little help from Gauss. Many maps can also be found online through various sources, and may be more easily imported. -Phnord
Hi Phnord, Thanks for the timely reply. I created a map and found no way to save it. I then exited out of Roll20 and came back later to find that it was gone? Maybe I am doing this all wrong. I have the free account and just created a game and them clicked on join game to get to the grid and begin mapping. Am I doing this incorrectly? Josh
Josh That's not expected behavior. When you create a campaign, and place images on the tabletop, they should stay where you placed them until you remove them. One possibility I can think of is that you've created more than one page, and lost track of the one you're looking for. Check your  Page Toolbar  to see if this might be the case. -Phnord
Thanks! Ha ha ha ha! Yeah, I accidentally created a duplicate of the same game with the same name... Duh!
Been there, done that! Good gaming to you!
