[LFG] GM and Players wanted for Hell's Vengeance Adventure Path!

As the title says. With all the Hell's Rebels games that have been cropping up as of late, I thought I'd try to get a group going for the "other side." My schedule is currently too hectic to DM with school starting up for me soon, so ideally I'd like to find a GM as well as some players. About the only days I can gurante myself being free, the way my schedule is, would be Monday or Wednesday, but only after 9:30PM EST on Wednesdays. If these days are good for you, would anybody be interested in playing in or GMing the Hell's Vengence path?
That actually sounds pretty awesome. I'm currently running a game on Wednesday nights but I could possibly bump it to every other week, and alternate with this one if you're up for it. I have been running and playing games for nearly a decade, from D&D to Star Wars to Lord of the Rings and more. I am very experienced yet easy going. As a writer, I'm also a heavy roleplayer. I love interacting with the party and being part of a unit. Even in more "evil" or neutral parties, I keep a sense of light-hearted humor and sportsmanship as a player. I'd look forward to discussing concepts and character ideas, whether or not this actually gets off the ground. :)

Thanks! Glad to have at least one person along for this ride. I am always a fan of evil PCs, which is why this adventure path appealed to me. I'm also something of a writer and seeing as I did freeform, forum-based prose RPs before I ever really knew what tabletop was I am there with you in that respect. I don't do voice over for my characters unless the game has a comedic tone, though...but only because my voice over work is notoriously bad. (Though I can do stereotypical evil overlord/scheming evil mage voices, as well as some devilish/demonic, undead and lizardfolk/kobalds/naga/general "reptile men" voices decent enough to not be humorous.) Wendsdays would be fine, but due note that I have school and won't be getting done until around 9:00PM EST, and won't be arriving home until 9:30EST. If your ok with late night gaming (10:00PM +) Wednesdays are one of the few days I am gurinteed not to be working (as I specifically have it "always off" for school) which is why I listed it as a good day.....as long as late nights don't bother you.(Or you happen to be in a non-EST timezone.) So yes, I'd be totally game for that, whether you decide to play or GM! As for my character concept, I'm still fleshing things out, but I'm thinking about making a Diabolist or some form of Necromancer. Either way, I see a character with decent int, decent cha and ties to some noble family, possibly even a distant Thrune relative though it may not even be a noble family from Cheliax in the end. Either way, I see them being distinctly neutral evil in outlook. Their prime motivations would be twofold. The first would be earn the power they believe rightfully due to them as a member of *insert noble family name here" that being X-times removed from the head position in the family has denied them. The second would be sheer boredom; while they could have easily lived their life in luxury, expanding their magic knowledge/power while being handed all the world's material comforts....that idea bored them. They wanted to see what their magic could do to others firsthand...they wanted "field experiments," excitement and ever-more-intellectually-challenging games to test their mind's power. They would also be quite spoiled and decadent, with a taste for the finer things in life and would be quite self-indulgent, both in terms of worldly pleasures and also in terms of their "games" that they would be constantly playing. However, despite their sadistic streak, playful nature and seeming lack of any principles beyond catering to their whims and power lust they would have an almost lawful evil level of control over their darker personality aspects. They would be a skilled manipulator able to put on the right "mask" for the moment. They would be highly organized, a long term thinker, and very much about using the party as their "weapon" and "armor" instead of being out to betray/be a dick to them at every turn.(Evil played that way, in my mind, is "evil stuiped" and not the right way to play an evil PC).  They would see the world as a big chess board, with some people as pieces and others as the hands moving them across the squares; they strive to be the latter. They would be a selfish, spoiled, entitled noble brat with sadistic and chaotic tendencies who views reality as a game, but one who is smart, highly manipulative, skilled with words and very prudent in their machinations. High int, High Cha (at least 14 or better in both is my final aim) and likely at least a non-negative wisdom modifier. Also, I'd ABSOLUTELY LOVE it if we could coordinate backstories somehow, as I feel it would be easier to keep an evil party together if we all had some kind of bond other than "we desire power, so lets team up to take over s**t!" to keep us together.  Also, be aware, that I do not like to play in games in which point buy is not an option on the table. I don't mind players being allowed to roll their stats, but I only will play if I have the option to not role and just use point buy. If your dead-set against point buys, then sadly that will be assuredly a deal-breaker for me unless I can use another player's rolls if I like them better and, likewise, other players can use the rolls of me or any other player who's rolls they like better. I just thought I'd get that out of the way now in case it causes some issues for you.
Hey! I've been looking to play this AP for a while, I've got a cool Fire Oracle, lined up for this, if you'd been willing to accept me as a player. I've also got another friend that would really enjoy playing as well. Add me on skype, and we can talk further details, superfly1101

I'd certainly have you, but I think Dale E. Was going to GM? I'm not fully sure, but I'd wait for him to reply before we go any further with party discussion. In the meantime, if your going with a fire Oracle than I'll likely go with either a wizard aiming for the Diabolist prestige class, Necromancer Wizard(Possibly a dhampir with the Cruoromancer archetype) or possibly an Arcanist with either the Twilight Sage, Occultist or School Savant (Necromancy) Archetype.
I was actually looking to play. Normally I'd be indifferent, but since I'm currently running another game I'd like to take a player's seat for this one. Also, the 10 PM EST time is perfect, as that's exactly when my other game meets. So if alternating, I'd schedule for the same time anyway! If I may ask, Ryuu, are you male or female? It'll help me solidify my characters. That said, I do have some basic concepts: NAME: Erro Grimm RACE: Obitu (Undead) CLASS: Magus BIO: Erro was once a half-elf who served as a guard for an ancient king. When the king was murdered, his queen condemned the guards as failures and had them tortured by magic and killed. Yet the executioner, a powerful necromancer, did not kill all of his victims. Some were turned into obitu - walking undead. Erro was one such unfortunate, kept as a slave in the necromancer's dark temple for years. When the necromancer died over a century later, his temple fell into ruin and was forgotten. Still chained in the dungeons, Erro was helpless to do anything but sit and stare into the darkness for an eternity. One day a descendant of the necromancer arrived to claim any secrets buried in the temple. Erro, the last of the obitu who had not yet fallen to decay or madness, vowed servitude in exchange for liberation from the chains. The heir agreed, and Erro took up arms once again. PLOT HOOK: The most obvious connection is if you (Ryuu) were the necromancer's heir. That would create the bond between our characters. =============== NAME: "Blister" Ka'Bluwi RACE: Goblin CLASS: Rogue (Bomber) BIO: Ka'Bluwi is a goblin from a remote island clan. Having had a yearning for fire and explosives all his life, he would often be attacked or reprimanded for setting fire to his own camps by accident - or on purpose. He finally escaped the island, caring little for gold or riches, battle or glory. He lives only to watch things burn. Still, he is rather cowardly by nature. Easily dominated, he has found himself under the boot or within the grasp of more powerful adventurers. This suits him just fine, as long as he has the means to feed his arson addition. PLOT HOOK: He could have met up with you for any reason, either by accident or a mutual assignment. He is also a pyro chemist, so he could've have come across your diabolist lab at some point. ================== NAME: Rogar Stormclaw RACE: Orc (or Half-Orc) CLASS: Bloodrager BIO: Having been born and raised in a large orc village, Rogar has always had to fight to survive. His father was the chieftan until he was killed by frost giants, and his mother was a shaman. She predicted greatness for Rogar, though as the youngest of three brothers he failed to see it - as did everyone else in the village. After his oldest brother was killed in battle, his next brother claimed rule of the tribe. Human soldiers from the nearby kingdom began to march further toward the clan, and Rogar urged his brother to move the tribe. The chief refused. Soon the humans launched an attack, destroying the village and scattering the orcs. Rogar's mother and brother were killed. Rather than attempt to reform the tribe or claim dominion over them, Rogar set off on his own. He has fostered a deep hatred of humans since, and though his travels have brought him into contact with them - or even working for them - he secretly years for the chance to crush any of them with his bare hands. PLOT HOOK: Like Blister, he could have met up with you for any reason, either by accident or a mutual assignment. As he does have elemental and magical blood within him, he could be a subject of interest for your mage.

Do you mean male or female IRL or IC? IRL I'm male, but IC I run both male and female characters in almost equal amounts. Since the last pathfinder game I had I played a female PC, I was thinking about making my PC for this one male, buuuttt...if we don't get any female PCs in the party I may swap to playing another female PC just for variety among the characters. However, assume male unless the party composition dictates otherwise for my character's IC gender. As for your concepts, they are all awesome, however I am partial to the Obitu Magus plus Necromancer combo.....so much, in fact, I REALLY want this to happen now.  Did you have a certain gender in mind for the necromancer's heir?
I had imaged male, personally. Just seemed appropriate as he would almost look like his ancestor - causing Erro to have even more concrete loyalty.

Ok, cool. Since we're bringing in some third party here....makes me wonder if I should make my necromancer a Death Mage(The rogue genius class)...not fully sure on this, as wizards and school savant arcanists make fine necromancers as well. Choosing between the two I'd likely go with the latter since the only thing the wizard necro has on the arcanist (school savant) one is the ability to take the awesome dhampir racial archetype, and I don't think the dhampir race fits with the backstory we have going unless that ancient necromancer or somebody down his line became....involved......with a vampire....so I'd likely go straight human for this. That, and I like my high int, high cha characters a LOT, and arcanist is the ONLY class in the game that makes extensive use of both int and cha.
True. The ancient necromancer could've been more of a Frankenstein/chemist type that a wizard or sorcerer. So instead of a temple, it's an ancient lab. You came to search for his journals, records, and research notes on his experiments.
That could possibly work, or straight wizard/sorcerer necro works too. The arcanist class, after all, uses more or less the same spellcasting mechanics as a wizard(spellbook, can scribe spells from written sources etc..) so we could easily say that most of my character's scribed necromancy spells came from the temple, if I go with a school savant arcanist. Likewise, if you want to go with a more "divine" theme for the original necromancer, I've always wanted to try Rogue Genius' Magister as well as the Death Mage, and since the Magister is both a divine and arcane caster (Basicly a mystic theurge as a base class) the temple/divine angle could work quite well with that class as well as the original necromancer being an arcane caster....magisters despite being wis/cha-based casters are fluffed as often seeking out both divine and arcane lore, and their magic can count as either arcane or divine(but not both at the same time) as they please, which would fit nice with a Necromancer who was also involved with religion. I'm thinking the original necromancer could have, perhaps, turned to worship of Urgathoa and sought out divine lore an an effort to gain cleric-like powers over the undead on top of his arcane might. His heir, years later, has partly succeeded in finding a way to do what his ancestor sought: blending arcane and divine magics together. However, a Magister's spell selection is very restricted, which could fit into the whole "partly succeeded" aspect I was talking about, and what drew my character to the temple...at least partly. He was hoping that, perhaps, it contained something that could expand his access to divine magics (Wizard/Sorc would be his "primary" spell list, with quite a few spells plucked from the death mage list as well, I imagine...mainly Animate Dead as a level 3 spell instead of a level 4(Thank God Death Mage is Arcane!).) in addition to whatever other treasures it may hide.  Also, I can still get a very "wizardly" feel with a Magister if I take the Arcane Specialization Mystic Bond for the Undead (Necromancy) school (I also get the Command Undead feat that way, which is nice!) so I can very much have an "arcanist/wizard" feel to a Magister despite not being an int-based spellbook-using caster. So yeah, I have now four options on the table: Death Mage, Magister, Wizard or School Savant(Necromancy: Undead) Arcanist, and all of them work in their own ways for what you had planned!
Now if only there was a GM!

Yes, yes indeed! I'll keep this thread alive as long as possible, just to be sure we can get one. Speaking of that....anybody else got character concepts? I think what we could use most would be a frontliner or skillmonkey, but anything is great. Party known thus far is a Obitu Magus (Frontline striker), a human *arcane fullcaster or 3rd party class yet to be decided* Necromancer (controller + debuffer), a Flame Oracle(ranged & AOE striker + support)...so we could use either another frontline character, a skilled character or perhaps somebody that covers both the front line and skillmonkey roles at the same time?(Inquisitor, Investigator, Mr.Hyde-style Alchemist, Slayer etc...) An Inquisitor of Asmodeus would be paticularly fitting for the AP, but there are plenty of classes that provide both a frontline body and lots of skills, so the sky's the limit as far as character concepts go. Heck, with my necromancer around we'll hopefully have an undead wall on the frontline at higher levels, but prior to getting animate dead yeah. The Magus class can be good frontline fighter, however, so as long as we play smart and the Oracle is packing cure spells, we should be fine prior to getting the undead hoard going so anybody interested can play whatever they'd like!
Right now I'm thinking of going with the Cabalist archetype (Ghoul Sorcerer Bloodline). It was a tossup between Ghoul and Undead, but with Undead it looked too much like Necromancy and control of the undead. Erro is a fighter, and would have more self-only abilities. But I'm still looking around. I'd love to find an archetype that does heavy armor, and have Erro be more of a brute tank than a wiry spellsword - but nothing yet. I'd be ok with Cabalist though.

Actually, I found some thing better! I think I'd go with Fighter (Eldritch Guardian). A pure fighter, Erro can cast no spells - which was probably intentional at the hands of his former master. Still, he has a red ioun wyrd he calls Heart that usually resides in his chest. In reality, Heart is intelligent and free to come and go as it pleases. Yet over the centuries, it has been Erro's companion. Erro is just of 7 feet tall and very stong, his undead body adding to his fortitude. Despite his intimidating look and presence, he was created to be a guard. As such, he is more defensive than aggressive.
Sounds good so far. Dale, do you happen to have skype by any chance? If so, would you care to exchange? If so , let me know and I'll give you mine!
